Woooo! I just saw Transformers! Oh man it was great. I won't give away any spoilers, but I put a warning since a thread like this could possible generate some.
I'm usually pretty against the big, special effects laiden summer action movie, but I'll make an exception in this case. The character designs, which caused alot of pee-peeing and moaning from the fandom in general, looked pretty good on screen and moving. I really liked all of the Autobots. Looks, voices, personalities and all. I was a little disappointed with the poor screen time alot of the D-cons got. Poor Bonecrusher- why'd they even bother having him in it? Poor bastard. I was thrilled when 'Brawl' turned out to be Devestator! I wish he and the camera were stationary long enough for me to get a good look at him. Still, what little I saw of him was awesome. I was fuming over Jazz. If you saw it, you know what I'm talking about. Those were great lines, though. "Megatron! You want a piece of me?" "No. I want two."
God, I can't even collect my thoughts on this. My brain is spinning out of control.
I'm geeked. How 'bout y'all?

I saw it last night as well... It was great, my girlfriend even liked it. What in the world was that trailer for that was on before transformers? The one with all the tremors, explosions, people screaming and running from something you dont see, then the statue of liberty's head rolling down the street..... What the heck was that? I was thinking godzilla the whole time.

I was thinking godzilla the whole time. Yeah, I was thinking Zilla too. Or Gamera or any of those guys. I'm kind of hoping it's Godzilla- and he looks like godzilla this time. I was also hoping that the TF movie opens a door for other big screen mecha movies... Tranzor Z (or Mezinger if you prefer), Voltron, maybe a little Gigantor...

Wow I am exhausted from that movie. It was great, but it is even better to be one of the first to see it and now tell everyone about it. I will say as my mini spoiler that there were too many humans for my liking.
As for the movie preview I think the production company was Bad Robot which is JJ Abrams who does Lost, is it not? So I am thinking it will be something different than Godzilla.

Yeah, superflytnt pointed out in another topic that its called "cloverfield"... But according to everything I have now read about it, that isnt the real name. Its all hush hush secret junk, so they call it by a codename (cloverfield), and dont even give you a name for it in that super cool trailer.

Oh wow..... I am just in unbelievable awe right now. Hands down this is my favorite movie already. It was so much fun from beginning to end. I am going to have to see it again before it is out of theaters because was just that good. I can't even think straight from the high of this movie. Shia was great, the chick was hot, and the Transformers were just uncomprehendable. Best movie of the summer and was totally worth the wait of a year since the first trailer.

I can't even think straight from the high of this movie. Amen, brutha! It's now been 24 hours, and my head is only starting to clear. My wife and I had some pizza for dinner, and for some reason, we feel we need to watch a movie whenever we dine on pizza. When she asked me what I wanted to watch, I realized that I didn't want to watch anything. No other movie seems necessary anymore. We ended up watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the 8 trillionth time. All the while I was imagining the goblet transfroming into a bot and firebombing the school.

Well it is even better the second time you see it. Again Defender and I were the first in and last out of the theater. It was great to sit in anticipation of the scenes. Oh please if you can, do yourself a favor and see it again. We went to a whole different theater which was not as good as the first time, but was fun to hear the crowd react when you know what is coming.

Saw the movie last night - I enjoyed the movie overall. I liked the humor and the storyline was much better than I expected.
The action sequences left me quite dizzy after a while the way the camera whipped around so much... it seemed they put a lot of detail into the computer animation, but you couldn't appreciate it fully because it was so fast.
I agree with Midnight Majick in that there were too many humans - I wish they focused more on the robots. Although I really liked the homage payed to the original cartoon movie when Optimus said "One shall stand and one shall fall" when he finally meets up with Megatron.
Seems to me there will be a sequel for sure... "let's bury Megatron at the bottom of the ocean where no one will ever find him - wink wink".

Saw it today and gotta say, I really liked it.
I agree with MidnightM. and ConaC. that I wish that they focused a little more on the robots and less on the humans.
Quotes of the movie.
"Do you want a piece of me"? "No, I want two"!
"Was you masturbatingg"?
Overall good movie. I can't wait for the sequel.
Can anyone tell me who that little Decepticon was that was downloading all of the information on Air Force One?

Well, this movie was complete garbage.
No, I'm just kidding. The movie was awesome. Completely awesome. I am a guy that really has to enjoy a movie to even call it good, and this was a good movie. It was the first movie this summer that wasn't - to me - a complete disappointment. I loved it. The effects and CGI were fantastic and incredibly well done. The transformers just looked great. And don't get me started on the action sequences. Personally, I didn't mind the close camera shots and shaky camera. I actually thought it looked great. And I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Now, I wasn't really into the cartoon or toys back in the 80's (for obvious reasons), but I do know some about them. And, from what I know, it stayed pretty true to them. I agree that the film focused a lot on the humans, but I would not change that. That was a big part of the movie - robots connecting with humans. And they NAILED Optimus Prime. The voice, the look, his compassion for humans; it was all there.
And the things that bugged me in the film were actually just little things, like the little decepticon, the COOL MOM! scene, and music in places I wouldn't have it in. But it all was just little stuff and didn't distract much from the bigger, more awesome parts about it.
Overall, I'll give it a 8/10. Now I would NEVER give a movie a perfect 10, as no movie is completely perfect. A 9 would have to be darn near perfect, and I honestly can think of maybe only one I possibly could put in this category. So, giving this a 8 means I thought it was FANTASTIC.
Everyone I went with liked it. My long time fan uncle did. My 57 year old dad did. My romantic comedy loving sister did. My 8 year old cousin did. Me, the huge movie critic, did.
See it. See it twice.
And I am insanely wanting to know more about "Cloverfield". I don't want to get too excited about this, but if it is done right, it could turn out being a really, really cool movie. I have some theories about it, but I don't want to turn this into an Untitled J.J. Abrams Project discussion board.

Well, Chris, Chris's brother and I were unimpressed after we left the film. There were a lot of things that we collectively didn't like. About 10 minutes after, Chris gave a 6 or 7 of 10, and I gave it a definite 6 out of 10. It was alright but not even close to Raiders of the Lost Ark or something.
The CGI was supermegabadazz, the plot was a little thinner than I'd have expected, but the thing that really let me down was the long-and-drawn-out-edness of the scenes. Each scene seemed like it dragged out forever. The other pissing point, as you've all said, was that there were only 5 or 6 Autobots, and only about 10 decepticons. That sucked. Travel billions of lightyears with like 5 of your friends to get the progenitor of all mechanized life, the Allspark? Sucked. And Megatron was cool and all, but WAY different than I'd ever seen him. Another pisser was the allspark itself - why is it when it makes Transformers it only makes little nasties? Why doesn't it make good guys too?
Anyway, I went home and played some cornhole and had a beer....that was almost as much fun as the movie. Chris was at the movie, and that's what gave it the advantage, otherwise I'd have rather gone to the dollar store and seen 300 again.
Thumbs Sideways - 6.5 of 10.
