I just got a Ki Adi Mundi with a very weak swing - can barely get back to his normal position, much less move or knock down a figure. By contrast, my Dooku and Yoda can send 'em flying! I am thinking along the same lines as Joe, and was going to take him apart to see what makes him tick... (I figured there wasn't much difference between sending Hasbro back a defective figure and a really broken figure if I couldn't get him back together! ) Maybe I'll wait and see what Joe found before I do...

Well, I dissected the Dial and Figure of a Grievous Bodyguard.
The Dial was simple. The Figure is TOUGH. Basically, there are two plastic cylinders, one in the torso, one in the legs. There is a wire spring, NOT a rubber band in the swinging mechanism... (not that I could tell) The torso is very strongly cast around the plastic piece.
If you are planning on sending that piece back try this method. My Bodyguard was junk and on backwards. I gave him ONE slow 180 degree twist. There is some resistance, but he will definitely go all the way around.
I believe there is a catch for the metal spring, cast into the plastic. I destroyed my plastic (opening it) so I have no way to prove it, but there is a little metal hook that i think catches this piece and pulls it back (so maybe there is some rubber I haven't seen yet)
Anyway, if he is dead no matter what. Give him a SLOW twist, try to get him around 180 degrees (facing the opposite direction than he is now) Now give him a test swing. If nothing, try ONE more twist, 180 same direction, so now he is in the same position. If he still has NO swing, he is dead - so send him back!
The interesting part of my experiment last night was the dial, so simple, yet wonderful! But I did learn that a liitle twist did help the Strikers.
Let me know if that works??

Good work. I guessed a while back that the mechanism would be the same as some of the Ninja GI Joes.

Your Bail had her special powers on the bottom? I got a Bail with Padme's name sticker on him, but that was the only thing out of place. The white label on the back and the special powers were correct.

Very much so. My Vader #32 has a weak swing, though that trick our Man Joe discovered by slowly cranking him back has at least made him usable!
Also, the same Vader has his lighsabre arm on backwards (really!) and his "tix'er" locks up after 7 or 8 tix. I may just hav eto get a second starter to replace this poor guy.
Other than my Tarfull not tix'en either, I've been fortunate. I still use him because his swing is very powerful - I just use a D100 to see if I hit his 31% special ability.
I've seen way worse and am grateful my two problems are somewhat minor.

My messed up Vader work if you twist the base as well as the arm.

It worked, sort of... Ki Adi Mundi can now known down his target about 50% of the time, it is still a weak swing, but better than before. (I traded for a new one so that should take care of the problem! )

Good, I am glad it works... Like I said, the figure is already busted, so if you can make him work a little, then it is better than nothing.
I will continue to ponder this, and see if we can't get it any stronger. Someone with a lot of doubles may want to test it!
