I usually play most of my matches against myself. I decided to start doing a series of matches in which a "Champion" team would be crowned and then have Challengers meet them for the Title to see who would win.
I crowned a champion and then they have successfully defended that title 5 times so far.
I'll write about the matches here and if you have a team that you think can beat them, post it and I'll try and have that match (or as close to it as I can if I do not have the figures or quantity that you list). Teams are 200 points and I play the usual tournament rules (one tournament figure per team, one of each gold figure per team, no more than 5 of the same figure on a team including back-ups).
One of the title defenses is listed below:
"Team Recover"
Darth Vader (SW4/11) x2
Grand Moff Tarkin (SW4/16) x1
Sabertooth (M/22) x3
Venom (SM1/3) x2
vs.
"Droid Army"
Battle Droid (SW1/1) x1
General Grievous (SW1/28) x1
General Grievous (SW2/24) x1
Grievous Bodyguard (SW2/6) x2
Grievous Bodyguard (SW2/13) x3
Imperial Officer (SW3/9) x1
Nute Gunray (SWG1/1) x1
R2-Q5 (SW3/30) x1
Rodimus (TF1/5) x2
Backups:
Battle Droid (S1/1) x2
Destroyer Droid (S2/19) x2
Team Recover went first and fearlessly sent the Vaders out in the middle of the board. The Droid Army took out a Vader right away (who was not white) thanks to R2-Q5 and a GBG. The other Vader caused some damage while the Venoms, Tarkin, and Sabertooths basically held back. Special Powers did not play as big of a role, almost nobody came up white. So after a while the R2-Q5/GBG combo took out pretty much the entire team (although with a big assist from the Grievous Sabers who Vengeanced a Venom). In the end it was a Venom, who was all the way on the other side of the board, against a Rodimus, Battle Droid, Imperial Office, GBG, S1 Grievous, and R2-Q5. Some of you may remember me posting about this match on another thread, because unbelievably, the Venom was able to pick off one figure per turn while the remnants of the Droid Army inched their way across the board in vain effort to get close enough to knock Venom over for the win. The Droid Army only got 3 whites (expected value was 5) and no DD recruits from Rodimus, which really hurt, although the Recover Team only got 2 recovers to activate and one couldn't even be used (Sabertooth) because there were no leaders left at the time. Venom was the runaway MVP of the game (based on the point system in TixTool's Game Data) based on his 6 kills and not being knocked over at all.
So far "Team Recover" has proved pretty stiff competition thanks to the Vaders resembling punching bags (they always get back up - ask Superfly about these!). However they were able to beat a team in which the Vaders both went down and stayed down in the first couple turns.
Up next for "Team Recover" is a Daredevil/Elektra themed team.
