Feel sorry for ya Mal. I went through something similar this summer.
My brother's daughter stayed at my place this summer. At first everything went fine, but at times there were problems that needed attention. Now here's where I got upset. My brother decided to work out of town in North Carolina (we live in Indy). Then his wife decided to go down to Mexico for the entire summer. So here I am stuck with their kid all summer and no parental figure within the state. Now if something was to happen to her, what am I to do!? Drop her off at the hospital? I'm not signing any papers and taking on the bill.
I'm just glad the whole event is over now. I'll never do it again. She's not a bad kid, but unfortunately she has negligent parents and that seems to affect the kids moods. It was tough and now that I look back on it, I wished I'd just told them they need to come back home and take care of their kids. But, oh well. Like I said, it's over now.

I can't stand telemarketers. Not so much the people, but the companies policies of harassing me constantly. If I told you 15 times that I don't want your insurance and to please take me off the list....THEN TAKE ME OFF THE LIST! I had no idea how easy it was. www.donotcall.gov/Just register with the FCC and Poof, 31 days later you can begin prosecuting these companies. Fantastic! Oh, and it is totally free, and takes like,...2 minutes to complete. Could not be more happy.

Customers rise up and murder a Wal-Mart employee.... sort of.But seriously, I was out shopping today at 4 am and I didn't come anywhere close to murdering anybody. I suppose we can blame it on mob mentality, stupid people, or any other number of factors, but regardless, that just sucks. Update: It also appears that Toy 'R Us customers like to shoot each other to death. Yes "each other" implying more than one gunman and more than one death. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Sick, yes. What bothers me the most is nobody cared enough for human life to even stop shopping! All those people should be held accountable if you ask me. Sick! Think of if that man had a family that he was caring for? I hope they make all of them pay for this lose. I feel for the employees who were trying to rescue him and were getting beaten up themselves. It must have been a miserable time.
I went out yesterday. Woke up at 4 A.M., and wasn't done until around 2 P.M. with everything. I had a blast with the exception of going to Target.
So here's my rant.
1. Don't advertise you have something and then only have a couple. That to me is just B.S.! They know they are going to get hundreds of people looking for that item, and for them to not be-able to satisfy even a small minority of the people, that's just plain pathetic.
2. Have your employees study the advertisement you are putting out and know where the heck you are putting your merchandise in the stores. I was looking for a jump start kit from Meijer and you wouldn't believe the hard time I had explaining what it was to the 2 employees so they could show me where they placed it out on the floor. Overall lame. However, I did indeed find one even though they were convinced they sold out. LOL!

Cool, I can rant too. I was up at 4am yesterday too, and at Target by 5:30. Not because of shopping though, but because I had to work that day. I run the Electronics Dept. there, which accounts for well over 25% of the store's profit, and probably much more than that on Black Friday. If I hadn't been working that day, I would have happily slept in until about 10am. NOTHING is important enough for me to make me wake up that early and deal with so many jerks that early in the morning. NOTHING. Black Friday, IMO, is an outdated tradition (no matter how good it may be for retail stores) and that day only manages to bring out the absolute worst in people. As if the holiday season in general hadn't already done that enough... Savages are the best way to describe Black Friday shoppers. Whether I like you or not, I give a big fat one-finger salute to all of you idiots that took part in the madness yesterday. I think Black Friday shoppers are stupid and they smell like poopy. No wonder other countries look at the US and think we're under-evolved morons.

I suggest you retract your above statement. Not only are you insulting myself, Radar, (who as you read in the above posts, took part in yesterdays sales), but you insult my wife as well who was with me. I don't appreciate that and I feel you it's best for you to remedy it. That's not to mention others who are part of this forum who you just insulted.

Perhaps he was referring to the idiots of the day, not implying that all of the people out that day were idiots. Perhaps.
Regardless, I felt pretty foolish getting up at 3:30 am to go shopping.

Regardless, I felt pretty foolish getting up at 3:30 am to go shopping. I was referring to anyone that pushed, shoved, or raced their way through others on Black Friday, as well as those that showed anyone belligerence of ANY kind on that day. If you took part in none of those particular activities, then no harm done. I wasn't aiming it at you. I'll edit my post a bit for content (I admit it was probably not good to post as "colorfully" as I did on an all-ages forum), but the core idea behind the post remains the same. Black Friday, and the mobs that tend to participate in it, spit in the face of the holiday season and it's meaning, and I think it's sick. With that, my rant ends.

If that's the best you can do for a retraction, then I guess I'll have to say, I don't think your supervisor, manager, or corporate of Target would appreciate hearing that one of their employees is calling shoppers (on one of the most important days of the year for them) stupid, idiots, savages, or smell. Especially in a down year like this year. Yes, I think they would find that to be a bit "over the line".

Well, if I were working for a company that denies the right to free speech then yes, I don't think they'd like it. BUT, Not ONCE did I voice my negative opinion about Black Friday to ANY of our customers that day, or any other day. I conduct myself in the most professional fashion while there, keeping my personal opinion out of it. Excuse me for using the rant thread for it's intended purpose, voicing an opinion. I've seen some feelings hurt on this forum, some of which were my own when it came to debating veganism or any other thing that I feel strongly about, but never have I seen someone get so offended over a remark about SHOPPING, of all things. If one of the mods would like to edit any of my posts, feel free. However, my editing is done. I refuse to restrict my tongue anymore than I already have, especially over a matter as trivial as SHOPPING. I thought we were all adults here in this particular debate, but apparently the 23 year old is the only one here with enough sense to take words with a grain of salt and see this for what it it is: a ridiculously blown-out-of-proportion debate about SHOPPING. SHOPPING, SHOPPING, SHOPPING Not religion, not ethnic background, not country of origin, not abortion, not gay rights, not gun control laws, not immigration... SHOPPING...something for pre-teen girls to cry about, not adults. Oh, and I'm interested to see how much more my Karma will fall over this silly little debate. Ouch, touche'... I remove myself from this nonsense.

I remove myself from this nonsense. Sorry to open this back up, but I haven't been around much and was just agreeing with my DH. I can understand that you were ranting in a rant thread. I object to anyone using obscenity on these boards no matter what the topic. I do have one objection to black friday. If I am done shopping in only 3-5 hours, why do the stores have to open at 5 or 6? I do agree that the early openings are ridiculous. Maybe people would behave better all around if they weren't so sleep deprived going in.

Alas I like the sales, though not the format (didn't seem to be as big a sale stuff this year, but that might just be me), but alas am usually visiting family for the holiday and thus have to deal with about 10 times the population as I would have to in the town where I live. I found a workaround I was very happy with though, my kind father ordered some things online at one of the more dangerous stores to shop on black Friday (which I got the same day I returned home) and Brita was able to go to a couple stores that weren't so crazy, but had some stuff she wanted. We weren't involved in any bumping, rushing, trampling or anything else. I did help a couple people find the odd locations sale items were in and others did the same for my wife which was quite helpful.
