This thread is for rants, drunken or otherwise:
Why is it there's no Denny's in the northern KY area. That is simply a crime, and in my little world, punishible by Grievous bodily injury or summary execution.
Denny's should be in every town, even more prevailant than Wal-Marts. CRIME I TELL YOU! CRIME!!

Why is it with people these days worrying about what's "cool"? Some people think that you aren't cool if you're not cool, some people think that you aren't cool if you are cool, and some people are schizophrenic and can't seem to decide.
My main beef is with the "Well, if it's cool it can't be good" type people. I'm not a trend follower but I'm also not a trend avoider. If something I enjoy goes against the grain, fine by me. If something I do follows the grain, that's great to. It's the people who do everything they can to be different that annoy me.
After all, if everyone is trying to be different by not being the same, does that not make them all the same and not different at all?

What's the deal with Mall parking lots?
Here's the deal, usually, when you are coming into the mall, you don't have to stop. But people do! And the people that have to stop, going the other way, they don't!
ARGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Oh gosh, rants... If allowed I could probably go on all day long complaining about different things.
How about this. Why do we need 12 handy cap parking spots at every wal-mart? These people seem to think they need the closest parking spots to the store so they dont have to walk that far to get there. But then once they are in there they walk around for like 2 hours! So why do they need the closest spots?!
There are other things that bug me from time to time. Really stupid things that shouldn't bother anyone, but just kinda stick a thorn in my side.
Like, why is cheese cake called cheese cake? It is NOT a cake at all. If I were going to define it I would classify it as a pie, it is a crust with a simi-solid, puding like filling. Unlike a cake, that would actually be CAKE.
Also, it bugs me that still to this day we call native americans indians. We discovered a very long time ago that Columbus did not land in india (which Im pretty sure is the reason we started calling them indians in the first place), yet we still refer to them as indians. Even thought it bugs me I also refer to them as indians... Cause lets face it, its a pain in the rear to say "native americans". :\
Oh, I almost forgot to mention. Pete, when I first moved to this town I live in now I noticed there was an old closed down Denny's. I was like "How in the hell can a town not hold on to a Denny's?!".

Uh, what's so great about Denny's? I've eaten their once in my short life and it was probably over five years ago.
As I prepare to get flamed (not really), another quick rant.
Why does everyone seem to love Firefox? I have Firefox, I use Firefox, and I enjoy having Firefox. However, I can't figure out what's so great about it outside of the facts that:
A.) Tab Browsing B.) Better Security C.) Sticking It To "The Man" (Bill Gates)
Can anyone please clear this up? I love my Firefox but I don't understand why it's as popular as it is.

Why does everyone seem to love Firefox? I have Firefox, I use Firefox, and I enjoy having Firefox. Hehehe...well, I guess this is as good as any of a place to rant about unnecessarily closed-source software and idiotic trademark issues, the latter of which Firefox is involved Inasmuch as this feature utterly changed how I browse, it's a pretty big deal However, IE 7 now includes it, so it's less important than it used to be. Still, it was the first major Inasmuch as this means the browser is not intimately tied to the operating system, so that a security flaw in one does not necessarily imply a security flaw in the other, this is the main reason why I use Firefox. I like knowing that two major points of attack for viruses, Trojans, and other malware are fundamentally separate. Incidentally, the hooks that Outlook puts into Windows is the reason I refuse to allow it to be used, either, as e-mail is the third major way for bad things to happen to your system. If I'm honest with myself, this is also a reason for me using Firefox on Windows. However, inasmuch as IE doesn't exist for Linux, and it's an out-of-date piece of crippleware on Mac, there are many other reasons not to use IE [quoteCan anyone please clear this up? I love my Firefox but I don't understand why it's as popular as it is.[/quote] I'd say that there are a couple of items missing from your list. D) Open source. If you want to, you can inspect the code for vulnerabilities, and you can make changes to it. More importantly, others who are much more knowledgeable than you can do the same. One of the most important principles in security and cryptography is that your system should be secure in spite of other people being able to know exactly how it works. Another principle is that (assuming the eyes are equal) having more eyes to spot vulnerabilities in the system is a better thing than having fewer eyes. Now, it's highly arguable that all eyes are equal, but in a closed source modely, you have a fixed number of good eyes looking at the code directly, with a variable (and likely larger) number of bad eyes probing it indirectly (assuming no leakage of the code, which makes the bad eyes even worse). However, in an open source model, you have variable numbers of good and bad eyes looking at it; the assumption is that the nuber of good eyes outweighs the number of bad eyes, but that's hardly proven. E) Extensions and themes I'm not a huge fan of using lots of extensions, but some people like to "pimp their browser" with lots of extras that can be downloaded. Similarly, some like to change the default look of their browser with new themes, which I've done in a number of places.
Now, back to my rants My biggest peeve is an extremely narrow prior probability distribution of belief. Basically, what this means is that people believe things but are unwilling to consider data that would normally modify those beliefs in the face of alternative evidence. These are basically the "know-it-alls" of the world in their more benign forms, and the suicide bombers in their most extreme forms.

Also can be a very sticky subject in certain environments. I just thought of something I would like to add to my rants (tod you I could go all day)... This I actually delt with yestuday, but have also many times in the past. Freakin wireless phone companies. They always seem to have a way to get one over on you.

How about "Just Brakes" since all they do is brakes, you would think they would fix my brakes when you spend over half a grand. But after my third time and a total of over 24 hours of in shop labor (over three different days) they still sound like they are junk.
8 hours to fix brakes seems like a long time. 24 hours to break brakes seems like they are just messing with me. Thank god for credit card purchase protection. I could go on with this one for hours... I think it has caused me physical pain.

Grievous, Dennys is great because it is open 24 hours a day. It's great for college students, and other people that have weird hours they need to be awake. It's also great for vending machine operators, because the machines in the entry way make BANK.
BUT, what happened to that $1.99 Grand slam special I loved as a kid. Now the food costs about 3 times as much as it did in the past.
"One, Ninety-nine, are you out of your mind?" I liked that commercial.
Handicapped parking spaces......(I'm going to sound like a jerk here, but) I don't think most of those people need those placards. They seem to be walking fine. It (happens, but it) is rare that I think to myself "Boy, I'm glad that person can park close". Because on a really rare occasion, someone NEEDS to park close, but I have friends that will drive their parents car so they can park close.
It usually doesn't bug me that much. I like a good walk. But, some times the lot is full except for the handicapped places, and I wonder if we really need them or not.
OK, finished ranting now.

Thanks to Yodabreaker and Radar for answering my Rant/Question combos.
What is up with bloodcore video game fans? I mean, I'm fine if you play a game with blood in it. Heck, I've played a few myself. But in my many wanders in the gaming community, it seems as if a large (probably not a majority) number of gamers will not like a game unless it is rated M and absolutely soaked in blood.
Take Mercenaries for example. Mercenaries is one of my favorite games of all time but people complain about it simply because rather than having red come out when you shoot them, there is a bit of yellow dust type stuff. The reason that the "dust" isn't red is simply because it is much easier to sell a Teen game than a Mature one. If the game did have blood, I highly doubt my parents would have let me play it. The game's quality does not suffer from the "Dust Blood", even if it is ever so slightly less realistic.
In conclusion, what does it matter if a video game has blood? Many famous games (Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc.) do not gratuitously use blood (they do have blood scenes but it isn't every time you land a blow) yet they are still highly regarded in gaming. Sure, blood effects increase realism but blood does make a game good or bad, only more "Mature".

Why does school have to be so hard for me to get through? I can't do well in Spanish no matter how much I study, I lost my will to get good grades a while ago, and there's far too many assignments given that take far too long.

Rant of the day...if you are in the express checkout lane at Wal-Mart, don't take that as an opportunity to get into a lengthy discussion with the clerk about why your debit card doesn't work, and the possibility of fraud, and the nature of banks that issue the card...and...
SOME PEOPLE ARE ON THEIR LUNCH BREAK AND MIGHT BE IN AN ACTUAL HURRY!
