And GreyElephant, poignant is something that is touching, centimental. The word you were REAAAAACHing for was pungent. Give the guy a break. By the time he hit the bottom of the stairs, "poignant" probably WAS the right word!

He and I are actually really good friends. If we're not giving each other grief then there's a good chance one of us has died.
Yes, and I suppose you're right - his eyes were watering!

OOOOH New Rant!!!
I hate these scum at Harbor Freight. I call up to change an order (oooh somebody got an airbrush) and I was asked to buy a subscription to their 'premiere service', 3 months magazine subscriptions, and to get faster freight when I specifically stated initially that I wanted normal freight.
Why do they keep marketing me when I'm already a customer? I think EVERYONE hates this. The practice is like spamming, but on the phone. That is garbage.

LOL! I didn't catch that I typed that. That's too funny. I told you that I felt terrible once I got home. And I guess that in a way now that I look back on it, I am fond of the moment. Or, maybe it was the high. ;D New rant: Why don't people respect solid lines in a parking lot? I can't count how many times I have seen people driving across the parking lot totally ignoring the fact that they are driving over solid lines. It just kills me when I am actually driving in the lanes and some jerk is cutting across the parking lot and looks like me as if I am the fool who is cutting HIM off! Last time it happened I thought I was going to get in a fight because I was po'd about the look I got when the person tried to cut me off. I stopped my car just so I could yell at them how much of a fine person I thought they were. ;D

RANT FOR THE YEAR!
Fuji Machine Manufacturing Corporation (www.fuji.co.jp). Why is it that they sell a 500K$ machine that is advertised with lots of great features, then discontinue it 2 years later. Then, when someone who BOUGHT one wants to buy an accessory for it to help their process they take 3 days to get back to me on it, and tell me that YES they advertised it but NO that part doesn't exist because demand for the previous model's identical feature was so low that they never bothered designing the feature into the machine!
This just cost me 200K in sales. These guys suck.

This isnt really a rant, as it does not make me angry; or really effect my emotions in any way.... I just thought it was strange, and it surely does not belong in the rave thread.
The past couple of nights I saw a story on the news about a man that was drinking and driving and killed his own wife and their unborn child in an accident as a result. He is being charged with a double vehicular homicide.... And that is the part that got me thinking. Its legal for some people to kill unborn babies, but illegal for others to kill unborn babies?... Does this legal contradiction really make any sense at all?

As a high school student, I take all my classes at the local community college and, as such, I have the dead last priority for registering for classes. The semester begins exactly two weeks from today and today is the day that I can finally start registering for my classes. However, the biology classes that I've been trying to get into for the past two semesters and that I need to fulfill a GE requirement are completely filled up (including the waitlists) except for two where there's one more spot on the waitlist for each of them. I ended up getting the very last spot on the waitlist for a bio class that is on Friday night with a lab on Saturday morning. If I get in, it'll really, really suck to have class on Friday night and Saturday morning, but I really need to take that class. The restriction on K-12 students in higher education is really aggravating!

Sorry for bringing up this old thread, but I really have to get something off my chest.
I REALLY hate fanboys, especially ones who have no justificaiton for their reasoning. I was just at my friend's house, and we were taking turns playing Halo 3 on Live. My turn comes around, and I put on the headset, and I hear a guy rambling about how great the PS3 is. I laughed at how stupid he sounded, and he angrily asked me what system I had.
He laughed at me when I told him I had a Wii, and called me a fanboy, and that I should have bought a PS3 like he did. We got into an argument over the things that the PS3 had going for it. He said the game discs were Blu-Ray with lots of space on them, and I said that all that uneeded space just slowed down the loading times. He said the PS3 controllers were motion sensitive, and I told him that that feature had virtually no point whatsoever, and was only tacked on to help it compete with the Wii, which it didn't. He said the price went down. I told him it was at the cost of backwards compatibility, and it still costs more than a Wii or 360.
He got mad, started cursing at me so profusely and calling me a Nintendo fanboy and a f****t that I just muted him and quit.
Sure, I may have gone a little overboard, but I feel he deserved it. He brought it up, I hate fanboys, and I had a stressful week, so I wasn't in the mood for that kind of idiotic dribble.
I'm done for now, at least until some other idiotic fanboy wants to go a couple rounds with me.

Don't let that garbage get to you. What does it matter if someone calls you a fan boy? The truth of the matter is that they are probably jealous that you were able to snag a Wii and they didn't. Wii Rocks!

At Target today I saw some guy in his 30s walking with some new TF Animated figures in hand. Once I saw what figures they were (Oil Slick and SOUNDWAVE!!!), I tried to strike up a nerd conversation with the guy. I said something along the lines of "Wow, I haven't seen Soundwave anywhere yet.", and he replied by coldly saying "I have most of the figures now, I just need Leader Class Bulkhead". He pretty much ended the conversation there, clearly showing me that he was just WAYYYYY too cool to speak to me about toys. Yeah, you're cool alright, D-bag. Go back to your Mom's basement and practice your people skills. Up yours, Mr. Smug TF Nerd, up yours.

That's kinda like how I felt about when I went to BotCon and started asking the vendors if they had any Tix (in the vain hopes that someone, somehow, got a hold of some TF2 or TF3 figures). They all kinda got this look/sneer about them and said "No, we don't have THOSE (and they all but said "LOSER")".

Frack them! Snooty and stuck up looking down their noses!? I don't treat anyone as if they are beneath me because what they like is different than what I do.

I think that the difference is that they 'collect' them and put them in their little shrine rooms and whatnot, wheres people PLAY with tix. I figure the thought process is that they 'collect' and that's a highbrow sort of endeavour whereas 'uber-nerds' that play with toys are clearly simpletons with no lives.
Well, they can wrap their lips around the root.

As my son and I like to say, it's nice to be nice. Shame some people choose a different route.
