Wow, Indiana has been lucky with getting Marvel early. First my brother is the first person that finds Marvel Series 1 and now this... So, greyelephant, Grievous is no longer insanely jealous. This was found at a Target in Dunlap, Indiana. They still have three or four sets left so if you're in the area you should be able to get your hands on one there!

I actually just found out about this set today, when I received Hasbro's catalog. It was on the 43rd page, and here is a scan.

I figured I'd add to greyelephant's earlier reviews of the figures in this set. I hope he doesn't mind...
Venom:
Easily THE best figure in the set and one of the best figures ever made! He has an incredibly strong shot, easily knocking down Blackheart from 26+ tix. If you need to aim him higher, rotate him on his waist so he is facing backwards and then turn the whole figure around. This adds just a tiny change in elevation but more than enough to allow headshots. However, this figure doesn't really need it due to his sheer power. He has great defense, much like bending Boba Fett but better since he doesn't have the massive jetpack on his back. His power is outstanding as long as he isn't killed before you kill anyone else. Unfortunately for your opponent, this isn't likely to happen. If you go first, Venom will get a starting-line-to-starting-line shot and then his power will work. If you go second, Venom won't die easily because of his great defense and then on your turn you just kill someone and then his power will work. Absolutely deadly and much better than the booster version, well worth the twenty points and almost worth getting the set just for him alone.
Grievous Rating: Excellent!
Sandman:
We go from the best figure to the worst. Sandman is a bit costy at 80 points but if you're playing with Megas you obviously don't care about cost effectiveness. Sandman's bullet is merely average and his swipe attack is incredibly weak. However, if you whack figures with his pinky finger rather than his palm then you have a better chance of a KO. This is one Mega that I predict could be VERY difficult to knock over with a single strike but that's Yodabreaker's business, not mine. Whether he is Ransack-proof or not is a whole different story and I'll figure that out later. His power is actually quite strong and makes Vader #16 and S2 Starter Obi-Wan shake in their boots. Overall, not a great figure but, as a Mega, he won't be seeing much use anyways.
Grievous Rating: Below Average
New Goblin:
40 points is a bit high for any figure but New Goblin comes SO close to being worth it. He has THE longest flight length so far if you stretch him to the maximum, point his gun above his head, and then hold him horizontally. Doing this gives him an astounding NINE tix worth of reach. His defense is good and he actually stays in his base well compared to his daddy, Green Goblin. Power is good, 61% chance of Vengeancing any Spidey. His cost is very high, however, and thirty points would be much better. However, as it is, he's worth using in non-serious games.
Grievous Rating: Slightly Above Average
Tether Ball Spider-Man:
We have striking Spider-Man, web blast Spider-Man, stripper Spider-Man, and now tether ball Spider-Man. TBSM is actually quite a good figure. He can take out anyone within roughly a two figure radius around his entire base meaning if you can position him in the middle of the field he could easily get many kills if your opponent is swarming. Another thing is that he is basically insured a kill. Scorponok and Omega Supreme have obvious stopping points with their attacks, after you lift once you're done. With tether ball Spidey there isn't an obvious "end" meaning you can just keep spinning and spinning until you finally knock the guy down. Another tactic that is worth trying is hiding a figure like Blackheart or Venom who is required to have a figure knocked down behind his building, then kill someone directly in front of Spidey in order to make sure Blackie or Venom has someone to Vanquish, and then lightly shove the figure hiding behind the building into the middle of the map to attack. This works best with Venom and is an interesting but pretty useless tactic to tell the truth ;D. Tether ball Spidey also has one of the best Mega powers, Rescue at 30% or so. This makes him the first Mega (that I know of) that can actually come back from defeat. Spidey's one weakness, and it is MASSIVE, is his mere SIX tix of speed. This is horrible for a striker but all you really have to do is advance backwards and he is basically invincible so that makes up for it slightly. Easily one of the BEST Megas yet and another reason to get the Tournament Set.
Grievous Rating: Above Average
Overall:
This set is a good price if you consider one mega with one packed in figure is $15 times two is thirty bucks if these were sold separately so that means you're saving ten bucks at the current twenty dollar cost. Tether ball Spider-Man and Venom are the high points while New Goblin is only decent but worth owning and Sandman is lame. Overall, a good set and one that you should definitely consider investing in.
Grievous Rating: Buy!

I'd ASSUME he wouldn't be great because then you have two characters that have to pull from the opponent's defeated pile to recover. If someone were to double kill Venom into Blackheart twice in a row, that means you have to have killed at least four of your opponent's figures in order for them both to stand up. In my opinion, in higher point games this won't be an issue but in the lower point ones I'd go with one or the other and out of the two Venom is easily the better choice.

I would certainly disagree with that assumption.... Spin him once, doesnt knock someone down? Too bad.

What you're referring to is indeed an opinion due to the "no obvious stopping point". The instructions for Spidey read "Rotate figure to attack with a swinging kick". It doesn't say "Shove him once and when he stops he's done" it says "rotate" implying you guide Spider-Man around the pole. If this is true, there isn't an obvious stopping point due to the never ending spin. Until we know for sure if it is a "wind-up, release, when done spinning he's done" deal or a "shove him around the pole" mechanic, I'm saying there isn't a place where you would obviously stop.
Again, this is my opinion based on the undetailed rules. Until we get a ruling, I'm going to push Spidey all over the place.

Do you mean you can spin it "hard" so it can go around more than once, because isn't it that once you use your attack, weither your attacktix has 1 or 2 or 4 attacks, you can't attack again? (well, with that same person, but you can do it with another person, and only once unless a special or effect says so)

They look nice. Especially the Spidey (of course, this is an unrepentant Spidey-nut speaking)... But is anyone else getting an 'Insane Paintballer' feel from New Goblin's head/mask? yeah, i was hoping for something a little more.....scary or goblin-like? He looks like a techno freak, but i think it looks cool, just not the character i was hoping for this "role/part", but hey, i still can't wait for the move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(well, with that same person, but you can do it with another person, and only once unless a special or effect says so) What I mean is that the instructions that come with the Tournament Set doesn't say if you're supposed to keep your hand on it and move it around the base yourself like with Omega Supreme's arm or if you're supposed to give it a push and then let it swing on its own. THAT is the unclarity. If it is the first and you can keep your hand on Spidey all the way through the attack, there isn't a logical stopping point like with Omega Supreme. If it is the second, then it is obvious that once he stops spinning he is done. Perhaps someone else who has the instructions can correct me but the instruction manual could go either way if you ask me.

Yes, but the rules say "Rotate figure to attack with a swinging kick" not "Push Spider-Man to make him swing around pole" or what not. Rotate, to me, implies that the user actually rotates the figure around the pole manually. Anyways, I decided to do everyone a favor and scan in that section of the instructions so you all can see what I'm talking about...

It also doesnt say "continuously spin (Oops! " rotate") spider-man until intended target is defeated." And it also also doesn't say "Push Spider-Man once and release" or "Move Spider-Man with hand until he makes one full rotation". All it says is... well, you can see it above. Another thing I've come to a conclusion on, if it is "push Spidey and release", this Mega SUCKS. 6 speed and he can only knock down one figure, two if the opponent is dumb enough to place two figures RIGHT next to each other. He's either the best Mega or the worst (next to maybe the Republic Gunship) depending on how this is ruled.
