Well, anybody here going to waste an entire day for Star Wars? I know I am.
This sunday I'm going to throw in Ep. 1 & 2. Then it's off to the theater for #3. Then right back home for 4-6.
It will be pretty cool to see the saga stright through looking at it as Anakins tale.
And on the topic of Anakins rise and fall. Does anybody think that looking at the Star Wars story as Anakins tale take something away from Luke. I know he is still an important character, but I think that all the focus on Annie takes something away from Luke. What do you think?

Beyond all the crap you hear about with the Prequals all the time, that has been my #1 complaint. The focus shifts from Luke saving the galaxy to how Anakin Skywalker fell to the Dark side and was later redeemed. Vader is a fantastic villain, one of the best. But seeing Episodes 1-3 really sour me on him and repeated watchings of 4-6 after seeing the new films only remind me that he is really just some whiny kid under all that terrifying armor.
In other words, Episodes 1-3 were stories that never needed to be told. And the fact that they aren't very good, certainly not even close to the quality of episodes 4-6, doesn't help matters any...

Oh, and no marathons for me! With my two toddlers running around the house, I can barely keep my eyes open for ONE of the LotR films anymore!

It was long. Very long! Over 16 hours! (there were breaks here and there). But it was really cool. It makes you look at events and statements in the OT in a whole new way, at the same time not taking away anything from the originals.

I would need a lot of caffeine to get through 16 hours of star wars...I love it but man it would be long. Glad it was worth it though. I will def attempt one day.

I'm impressed; I couldn't stomach a LotR or Star Trek marathon, not to mention a Star Wars one! Though I've heard amusing anecdotes that if you watch them all backwards, you can hear "Darth is dead" at some point in each one...

Ya I never had it in me for a LotR marathon, so I watched one each day. I just hope I build up enough stamina by the time it comes out on DvD.
