I thought about doing the whole pre- and post-RotS deal, but I think I'll just wait until they're out on DVD.

I would love to be a kid again and just blow a day watching a marathon of any one of the major epics like Star Wars or LOTRs, but there is no way I can stay awake for it now. Heck, I can't even watch JUST Ep I or II without getting sick and walking away. God was Ep II just AWEFUL!!!
I have to agree with Meepo. I get sooooo tired of the whining Anakin that it tears down my original vision of Vader!
I do agree that the focus of the Epic has shifted completely from Luke to Anakin and he has become the central figure in the entire series.
That being said. Did Anakin fulfill the prophecy and was he the ONE that restored order to the Galaxy? I say yes, in the end he actually is the one that restored order to the Force in that he destroyed the Emperor and allowed Luke and his friends to save the Galaxy. So the prophecy was ultimately fulfilled, just in a round about way.

It doesn't get more BALANCED than TWO SITH and TWO JEDI (Vader/Sidious vs Yoda/Obi-Wan) Looks like he fulfilled the prophecy EITHER way you look at it!

Interesting interpretation.
What about Luke/Leia and any other potential future generations of Jedi?
I interpret Balance in this regard as being without conflict. A pool of still water, not that of equal weight or quantity.
I don't beleive that this happens until the very end of Ep VI.

I was in the same boat as ya'll with episode I and II until I saw III,
I just bought episode I on DVD because of III and I have a new appreciation for them now that III has been released. I think aside from the poor quality of the digital scenes in Episode I they work well together...
too bad that as stand alone films they lack something that Episodes IV, V and VI possesed but none the less I need more...
forget complaining about which episode was worst or character was displayed wrong....
rather let us all join together in pleeding with MR.LUCAS to continue with Episodes VII, VIII and IX I need more....
we all do....instead of beating up the poor man for goofing up the first few Episodes lets support him and send him the message the his people demand to see the full thing completed while he is still here...
you know someone will finish themoff once he is gone if he does not do it himself and that is not how it is supposed to go down....is it?
George....please make more movies.....maye this should be a thread of it's own...? toughts?

you know someone will finish themoff once he is gone if he does not do it himself and that is not how it is supposed to go down....is it? Actually, no one would be able to make derivative movies without the licensing blessing of the Lucas empire (or his estate), and I sincerely doubt that it would be granted to anyone outside the Lucas stable. And those within the Lucas estate would likely be too afraid of damaging the master's works and vision. Nah, I'm glad he quit while he was ahead. Eps I and II demonstrated that he'd forgotten how to tell intriguing, self-contained stories. Perhaps it was the fact was too pressured to tell a particular backstory, or perhaps he's much more adept at plotting war instead of politics. Either way, I fear that future episodes would have to feature a substantial amount of political content, which Lucas does not seem to do well or convincingly. Ah, how I wish I had DVDs for all 6 movies, so that I could do a marathon while writing my dissertation...

For sure ... my daughter and I are watching all six on the first Saturday after DVD release in November.
Then, in December, we'll watch it with both volumes of Clone Wars cartoons incorporated between AotC and RotS.

No marathons for me thank you, but I did like what SFX said about seeing things in a new light. I remember watching Ep. 4 back in the day and in the Cantina droids were not allowed. I had always figured that this was George's way of saying "racism is bad", which may have been true at the time, but now we see an intergalactic war started by droids and it is a little more reasonable why he wouldn't want to have droids in his facility. That's one of the things I like about well written (LOTR, Back to the Future, etc.) trilogies (or larger), the films wrap around themselves to make more sense together than they didi individually. -Radar
