I finally last night got the chance to play with the new Series 2 starter for Transformers. Optimus Prime (as was to be expected) was amazing. But on the other hand then there was megatron....hes a good figure, but the way his gun is positioned, hes a little bit awkward to shot with. I only played one game with Landquake, but he seems to have a pretty powerful punch (even though its probably causes he's new out of the package seeing as all he is is a Landmine repaint ^.-). And i didn't really play with skywarp seeing as he is just a repaint of starscream...the only thing that has it going for Skywarp is his special. If he's white and you have a captain in play you can move him to your opponent's starting area, which could be potentially dangerous. As far as the specials go for the others, Prime has a very well thought out special...if he is white, and he is your only figure left in play you may stand him back up (hence the name of his special being Last Stand). Megatron's hasn't changed at all its still if hes white and you have a decepticon in play you can stand him back up. Now for Landquake...I nailed my friend with him last night, because his special reads: Jam - If white Launcher figures may not attack for the rest of the turn. Very very handy in most situations. So as of this far I myself am very impressed with the starter set, and cant wait to get my hands on some of the boosters.

In order to use that, you've got to replace one of your other Decepticons. I think this new Megatron is much better. With his Recover, you only need to have another Decepticon in play- no replacing required! ;D

my brother who is prime05 on here says playing with Skywarp and Megatron is devastating... I haven't played him yet, but he said skywarp does a ton of damage when he appears behind enemy lines and shoots bots in the back. Megs is also tough as he stands back up immediately.. i think his command base structures around Megs, Scorponok and Skywarp...

Well if you want help, take out Scorponok first, then Skywarp, then the 2 insecticons, and finish off with megs..hope i help, and your bro sound like he has a hell of a team!

I have played with skywarp and the G1 megatron several times. And it is hardly a "devastating" combo. Skywarps special is very cool, but at 31% its slightly less than reliable. I have yet to actually see it come up in a game. Even if it does come up, really, how much damage can a medium base medium missile launcher do? He may take out one figure, but hes likely dead as a door nail on the opponents next turn (on a second kill hes even less likely to come up white). The G1 megatron is a different story, I would have to say he is by far the best figure in the TF2 starter. He has a solid shot, is somewhat solid footed when attacked... And his special is very strong, and comes up much much more often at 62%. With TF1-16 megs having transform at 31%, and SVT1-6 megs having sacrifice at 46%, I would have to say that the TF2 megatron is not only the best figure in the TF2 starter; hes also the best megatron we have seen yet.

Being a 30 point figure, I would have liked to see Skywarp's percentage a little higher at maybe 38%. Since he's only going to be able to take out one figure at most before getting nailed again. Imagine if he was a striker though... now that would be a devastating special.

The thought was something like "Now if a jedi knight had a teleport special, that WOULD be devastating!".

If he was a striker, he'd HAVE to be 40 points.

If he was a striker, he'd HAVE to be 40 points. The funny thing is he COULD have been a striker, Cybertron Starscream had swords in his arms in the show so the mold could have been made into a really kick ass striker.

That would have been cool. Bottom line the studs from each set is Megatron, Thing, Hulk, and Heavy Stormtrooper.
The freakin Heavy ST is by far my favorite so far. Him, Obi Wan, and Vader get along so well. I now have 7 of him. I still want 3 more. ;D

The cool thing about skywarp ( i just got the starter set off ebay) is that he forces your opponent to switch up their lines immediately. Imagine skywarp warping behind G1 Prime who has been holding back. Prime is dead ASAP. In response he has to turn at least a couple characters to face skywarp which can slow any advance. Thus weakening your opponents front line...
I really like these figures alot and want the rest of this series NOW.
war is cool...

It's a garbage figure IMO - What's the point of having skywarp, who can only kill ONE figure with that gun, MMMMMAAAAAAYYYYYYBBBBEEEE two if the wind is right and the planets aligned, going behind enemy lines. The only scenrio I see as being effective is if he's killed and pops up behind someone who is protecting an effect droid like R2Q5. That would be a good use, otherwise that dude (or dud) is shelved in my book.

I have to agree with Superfly. I won't use him much simply because of this cost vs special ability. Now if he was 20 points, or a striker, that would be a different story all together.
