All I need now is a date for arrival. I may have just enough pennies in my piggy bank after the first set to, oh, GO HOG WILD ON THIS!!! Anyone else excited beyond belief about this?!?

I am. My 1 concern: how will their defining trait, transforming, enter into it? I mean, GI Joe I get, it's a no-brainer to make, but Transformers...I dunno. I hope it's cool.

That worried me as well. I have to beleive that Hasbro will see this through. Otherwise we're just shooting missles at somewhat familiar robots!
Personally, I'd pay more per figure if they were fully functional transformation-wise. If that isn't feasable, I could also accept two versions of each character in both modes that can be interchangeable in-game with each other.
Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for a teaser!

I've thought about this, too, and I think it's probably going to involve something more along the lines of two different figures per character (perhaps like striker and Force blaster alternatives for the Jedi). Here's an example:
Optimus Prime as a robot = shooter Optimus Prime as a vehicle = striker (especially with that big ol' rear end he's got!)
Now, an intriguing twist for GI JOE would be if the same figure could serve as a shooter and a striker. Has your JOE depleted his ammo? Well then, just twist him around and thwack that Cobra outta the way with the gun!

I dig that idea! I was thinking mostly of the vehicle form being a means of getting to and from battle quickly and not an attack form itself. Very cool idea!

I look forward to seeing what they will do as far as the transformations myself.
I only had three transformers as a kid (and one may have been a GoBot!) But they were always fun and challenging!
I am anxiously awaiting this line, and want to see how Optimus Prime and Obi-Wan interact!!!
I did watch the NEW Transformers on Cartoon Network, but I couldn't figure out the three scooter kids and their roles as controller of the transformers.

Hehe yeah, my love for the Transformers stems from my youth. The new cartoons just confuse me. And scare me a little - probably because I'm gettin' so old and crusty.
The toys are good fun, though, to this day. They tend to be well built, often with metal (gasp) parts and are usually pretty sturdy. If they can transfer those values to an Attacktix line, it could very well attract a whole new world of gamers out there who wrote off Attacktix as a kids game.

Why thank ye I hadn't considered the flip side of that idea (which you did): it would allow you to have the vehicles have a relatively large number of movement points (i.e., the 10-14 now usually allotted to strikers), then convert them to figures with fewer movement points when they're in shooter-robot mode. Indeed, this could be a new Attacktix rule! Think of times when those who don't like strikers as much as I do might want still to have the speed of a striker, only to replace the figure with a big ol' Force blaster once they've gotten up close. Perhaps if the top window reads red, you'd be allowed to switch out a striker (or shooter, for that matter) with the same figure...but only if that figure's in your backups (Yay! Backups now mean something!). And you'd have to stop moving once you did the switch; you'd only be allowed to attack after the switch, if you still have an attack left. For example, let's say that I've got Striker Kenobi marching up in the front line of a platoon of Jedi. I get in really close range to a group of shooters, and I want Shooter Kenobi to attack instead of Striker Kenobi. I pull Shooter Kenobi from my backups and replace Striker Kenobi with him, putting Striker Kenobi in my backups. I then can no longer move Kenobi this turn, so I take aim at the shooter group and fire. Having busted them up a bit, I then peel off a striker from the platoon to finish the shooter group off, thus ending my turn. If I wanted to switch Striker Kenobi back in, I'd have to wait until I was happy with Shooter Kenobi's position for attack (i.e., nestling him up next to another of my opponent's figures on my next turn that happens to be 5 Tix away), then pull the switcheroo again and thwap the opponent's figure.

Swapping the figures out would be fine for me too. But I know my hardcore Transformers friends won't even TOUCH this line unless they do some form of Transforming.
Personally, with all the kinetics involved, I don't see moving/folding/spinning parts being able to work with the Attacktix game we know. Just ask YodaBreaker how he got his name. That lightsaber was completely stiff and it snapped.
But I hope there is a way, I'll leave that to the designers. But I would like to have my junk Transform, so I can play by myself sometimes too.
OT: I just flashed back to the Voltron toys I never got as a kid. I think I hold a personal grudge against giant robots because I didn't get any as a kid. But I had a BUTT load of He-Man. THANKS MOM AND DAD! I really can't complain.

THANKS MOM AND DAD! I really can't complain. Ouch. Old wounds... Same here. Man I remember wanting them bad! I did get the Blue and Red Lion set from my uncle one year for Christmas, but sadly my gimped Voltron never made it without another arm, leg, and torso.

Swapping the figures out would be fine for me too. But I know my hardcore Transformers friends won't even TOUCH this line unless they do some form of Transforming. Can't say I'd necessarily blame 'em, but it's about the game, for me And then snapped again, after it'd been superglued. Hence the "baseball bat" look to distribute the kinetic force across the length of the saber again, which has seemed to work for a couple of months now. I'd hate to see what would happen to parts that are manufactured to have joints at which concentrated kinetic force can be applied, which would likely lead to much snappage. At least the rule I proposed would allow a sort of compromise for transforming (and, as a bonus, it would be applicable to other character sets, so as to make it consistent across the whole Attacktix line). But it certainly doesn't get around the lack of actual transformation action, which is kinda the point of the Transformer toys. It would be really nifty if they did, but I've the feeling that it just wouldn't work out all that well. The joints would immediately become points of breakage upon attack.

Yeah, we will have to wait and see. Hopefully it will be a short wait, if Target is already planning on them!
The hardcore Star Wars collectors also said the same thing about the Attacktix sculpts, didn't they? They just didn't get that it was a game. As long as Hasbro doesn't do anything radical to change or foul up (AKA complicate) the rules in extreme ways, this is gonna be a blast!

Especially with your Striking discipline. Anyway, I am happy with figures that don't transform at all, just to play the game...
I just haven't transformed a real Transformer in so long - three for 7 bucks would be a fun way to start. But I *KNOW* in my heart these babies are figures pure and simple.
Phoenix thinks it could work with ONE main hinge, like folded down its a vehicle (left as a vehicle after moving for better defense/lower to the gound) then flipped up into standing position, left more vulnerable after firing. Kind of the way we hoped the Destroyer Droid would have worked.
So yeah, either way I CAN'T WAIT!

I hope THIS comes in the Starter Kit! And this: "Did you get your tickets to the gun show?"
