For those of you living in the United Kingdom, I'm curious about whether Geek, Nerd, and Dork are used differently there than in the United States. Any thoughts? The word nerd would hrdly ever be used and it would have been picked from american programs like Saved by the Bell *shudder* Sabrina the Teenage Witch *shudder* and any other American "sitcom" shows. A geek would be a Star Wars fan or Star Trek fan. A dork would be a clumsy or stupid person. These are not common classifications for people. In my school the stereotype categories are: Hippie Ned Swat (teachers pet) I dont agree with what the stereotypes are based on. Post what you think these stereotypes mean.

Hippie, as in a 60's kind of mind set with the whole stupid looking outfits with the idiotic giant bell bottom pants and the dang flower power and the friggin peace sign flashing? Did I mention draft dodging?
Anyway, hippie like that?
I have no clue what a "ned" would be.... Had a boss named Ned once, he was a real nice guy.

this is my results from the test
You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.
This is not to say that you don't have some Nerd, Geek or Dork inside of you--we all do, and you can see the percentages you have right above. This is just to say that none of those qualities stand out so much as to define you. Sure, you enjoy an episode of Star Trek now and again, and yeah, you kinda enjoyed a few classes back in the day. And, once in a while, you stumble while walking down the street even though there was nothing there to cause you to trip. But, for the most part, you look and act fairly typically, and aren't much of an outcast.
I'd say there's a fair chance someone asked you to take this test. In any event, fairly normal.
Congratulations!

Has any one else seen the show on tv "freaks and geeks", it came on a few years ago and it was like the "wonder years for the mildly socially outcast...good show.
Actually, I believe the definition of a geek is someone who bites the head off of a chicken. That's what I've been told for the last many years of my life anyway.
I agree with copes, guys are cool if they have skills (like copes basketball skills). I have nun-chuck skill, Bo staff skill, drawing skill (I love that movie). Seriously though, if guys can do one thing well, they are accepted. But if girls do one thing wrong they are shunned, at least thats how it works in the public education system. That's all to say, it's easier for a guy to be nerd-tastic than a girl.
I think the terms are all interchangeable. a nerd, is a dork, is a geek (minus that whole chicken thing). I used to be quiet about it, but now I don't care. I play battle front 2 on a projection screen, I get groups of people together to play attacktix, I dress like Obi-Wan Kenobi at the comic con (girls love it), I have no fear of rejection, I've got a whole nerd community now!!!!
Live free.

Nicely said, thats why we must try our hardest to support the fact of geek-e-ness, being a dork or if your a nerd. We have to show people its ok.

I don't consider myself a nerd/geek/dork. I'm good at sports, I'm in an awsome band that's about to record our first single and have a lot of cool friends. I'm friends with some nerds but they can be cool to. I really don't think people should be labeled.

No people shouldn't but they are...and some are meant to be derogitory such as geek and dork. So we should EMBRACE it to have SWEET revenge on them.

The most obnoxious thing about labeling is how 'popular' kids judge people solely by appearance. A lot of my friends are 'popular' but I actually choose to avoid it. I used to hang out with the popular kids and it's not any fun. Just a bunch of kids acting stupid in attempts to impress the opposite sex.

I also don't like how popular kids are labeled as "preps" not all of them are rich and some of them are nice.

The stereotypes in my school are stupid. People think that a hippie is someone who likes rock music!!! If you like rock music it dosen't mean your a hippie!!
A ned stands for Non Educated Dilingquint but in my school its someone who wears sporty clothes. How stupid is that?!!!

I go to a private christian school so I am always surrounded with peace and joy and happiness and fun and peacefulness and peace of mind and serenity and heartsease and ladness and pleasure and delight and happiness and exultation and transport and felicity and ecstasy and rapture and bliss and gayety and mirth and merriment and festivity and hilarity and all that stuff. No placements for me.
...but I still condsider myself a geek...
