Well, it's simple. dictionary.com says this: geek n. Slang A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken. nerd also nurd (nûrd) n. Slang A foolish, inept, or unattractive person. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. There you go. I even have aquix for you to tell if you are a geek, nerd, or a dork. www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=9935030990046738815Interesting quiz, BK---and far better than most of the quizzes on such sites. According to the quiz, I'm neither Geek nor Dork but "Pure Nerd" (86%)---and, I suppose, I do frequently fit the second Dictionary.com definition of nerd ("single-minded ..."). Oh well. For those of you living in the United Kingdom, I'm curious about whether Geek, Nerd, and Dork are used differently there than in the United States. Any thoughts?

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd. Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)! Congratulations! Im a cool nerd, i think thats fitting because i enjoy learning and pull straight A's, but still have a hot girlfriend and life. EDIT: I made a symbol everyone give me some feedback before i add it to my sig.

i think we can all agree dorks are seperated from nerds along with geeks. Where nerds and geeks fit together dorks fall away on its own, do we support dorks?
--confederation of geeks and nerds ( CGN ) or maybe confederation of geek and nerd power ( CGNP )
