Great. I see Joe's added Exalt/Smite input. I already feel the negative Karma washing over me.

And that's going to last...how long...exactly? I post to voice my opinions and support my arguments, wrong as they usually are---not to engage in a popularity contest. So, I won't be looking for any good Karma anytime soon.

As long as you don't post 200 posts in 8 hours, you are fine I was hoping to find a time-out period, so you can only post once a minute (or so) but there is no option. So if someone wants their rank to go up so badly they need to make 200 nonsense posts, they will see ANOTHER stat rise instead.. that, and I will also drop their post count back to zero. We want quality over quantity. LGS's posts are all well thought out, and 100% appropriate. If someone says their favorite figure is Vader and you like Yoda, that doesn't warrant feedback. Try to limit your karma to helpful post vs. waste of your time.

Just a question:
Does the staff know who sends karma to someone or is it anonymous? Like, if someone gets bad karma without deserving it, can you figure out who gave it to them?

Yep!
And I can also remove it, too. So PM me if you have a concern.

I like this karma feature. I will be dealing out negative karma to anyone with poor grammar. You have been warned.

Karma is one's aura (essence) of being, loosly good and evil. Exalt is to praise or uplift. Smite is to strike down.
That's a good way to get people to hate you. That would include those of us who know the proper way to use the subjunctive, don't split our infinitives, or end sentences with prepositions.

Karma: Do good things and good things will happen to you. Do bad things and it will come back and bite you in the ass.

Is that a portrait of you, Jay?
Or is that a picture of someone who's had bad things come back and bite them in the ass?

No, it's a picture of Earl Hickey (Jason Lee), the main character of the show My Name Is Earl, which is essentially about a guy working to improve his wretched karma to comedic effect It's one of the few shows my wife and I insist on watching every week.

So if anyone is nice to you or has been a good poster you can exalt them?

Yep, that would be the intent. However, for purposes of the board, it would probably be best to have your karma ratings reflect their posting behavior. I like to award karma for those who have been consistently useful sources of information, providers of good strategy, or collectors of information into one place to make it easier for people to maneuver around the boards. However, your reasons for adding or subtracting karma may vary You can also only edit someone's karma rating once per hour (this is to avoid karma spamming so that you can't uniformly exalt or smite someone you like or hate, respectively). Thus, you'll have to be judicious about your karma doling!
