For fair gameplay, it shouldn't be the case that a single relatively low-cost figure should be able to maraude through entire swaths of the opposition with no way of getting him down. However, in point of fact, you couldn't win the game with "just" Armored Vader; his special power requires at least one trooper to be alive to be activated. Remember, games are most fun for everyone when everyone has a chance of winning.

I suppose the personal answer to the question may be reflected in the persons view of Attacktix as a whole. I have friends who see this as just another strategy game, while they have fun...they aren't big star wars fans so they think Vader is too powerful. I on the other hand see this as a star wars game, and Vader could only be killed in ROTJ, by the two most powerful sith/jedi in the galaxy both trying to kill him. If anything, Vader is underpowered. -Radar

Remember, games are most fun for everyone when everyone has a chance of winning. I heartily agree with that. Last night I played my wife, and she was using my favorite 100 point team: 2 General Grievous, 4 Bodyguards. And she slaughtered me every single game! I think it was four in a row before I had to result to the Gunship and Yoda, which turned out to be a winner. I finally threw out a winning team of Vader, 2 Dooku's and 2 clone troopers... although it came down to two clones versus two bodyguards Anyway, it was a major point of frustration when every single team I tried was getting annihilated... the game is definitely not very fun if you don't have a chance to win!

I have 7 Vaders for a reason. He is the most powerful figure in the game. Let's face it even if he does have to have other figures to back up his special he still is a wicked striker with one of the largest bases and the highest movement.
Is he too powerful?
No, he is perfect. In fact no, he's Vader. He's supposed to be badder than the other figures.

Darth Vader #16 too powerful?
No way! I've won many times against DV16-1---especially with the new General Grievous' ability to remove any one of my opponent's Warriors.
If your opponent has DV16-1 in play, wipe out her/his Troopers. Then, take GG24-2 and/or Yoda right up to DV16-1, forcing DV16-1 either to take a hit from a figure that can definitely take him out or to take out Yoda or GG24-2 (either of which gives you a 3:4 chance of removing DV16). (And don't tell me that Yoda can't take out DV16-1---one good frontal hit to the belt from Yoda, and Vader goes down.)

Problem with that is, I personally hate using the new dual saber grievous. Seems like no matter how I position his left handed saber it manages to hit my hand.
I like putting yoda right up there in vaders face though, done it many times. Normally I can keep yoda right there with vader almost the entire game (yoda just following him around where ever he goes), because my opponent wont strike yoda and loose vader. It funny when its like knock down vader, he stands back up, then he moves, yoda follows, yoda knocks him down, he stands back up, so on and so forth. Eventually, even without taking out all the troopers, vader will not stand back up. His SP ration isn’t as high as yodas. Ive seen a lot more black vaders than yodas.

Threads are listed newest to oldest, so the ones that are current and still being discussed will be found on the first page. Just so you know.
