Right, I almost forgot... The only reason vader can even be that powerful is if a trooper is in play. So if Vader turns up white, kill the troopers and the white is meaningless.
I got so worked up in his magical loop, that I forgot the actual thing I do to beat it!

After reading everyone's thoughts, I have come to the conclusion that Vader is not too powerful, you just need to know the trick to beating him. Like in video games, evey boss has a trick to defeating it. Kill Vader's support and all you have left is a piece that can move further and has a alittle more powerful strike. You just need to have a plan.

And that is what makes this simple little kids toy so darned cool and addictive to some of us phanatical adults! The strategic element is the hook that keeps you coming back for more again and again!

The strategic element is the hook that keeps you coming back for more again and again! Attacktix is just like Othello - "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master." (I try and imagine that statement with a James Earl Jones voice over)

Actually, if you've got a striker near that you're pretty sure your opponent's going to use (e.g., Armored Vader), it's best to scatter your figures out of formation to avoid having all of them felled in one strike. *Sigh* I had just demonstrated to my wife how to properly use Vader, and then in the following game she took out all four of my grouped Jedi in one shot. I honestly left them in formation because I didn't think she could pull it off. I won't make that mistake again! My wife did the same thing once, and she still doesn't have confidence in her striking ability! Yeesh...I wonder what else it'd take.

Slightly off topic, but I just got back from Target. There was one opened pack that i looked through and found a super battle droid, a mace windu, and a vader. I didn't take it cause I already have mace from my first two boosters and i like a suprise much better than just buying a pack you know considers the (arguably) best figure in the game. So just to make sure It wasn't tampered with, I took the back box on the top shelf. Opened it up in the car and pulled a clone trooper. yay. Then a neimodion guard. yay. Then, whaddayaknow, an armored vader i now have nine figures and a very cool combination of two strikers.

My thinking is this...someone needs to be the best 40 pointer...it might as well be Vader. This is something that HeroClix is just starting to get right, the most popular characters should be the best, they are the ones everyone really wants to play with. Can you imagine if Agen Kolar was the best fig in the game? It would suck!

What heroclix gets WRONG is that their reissues make older figures obselete. Hopefully this doesn't happen in attacktix - although it shouldn't considering there are a lot less total characters issued out in general. I wouldn't want another Armored Vader released for example with a higher point value of 50 just because he is a bit stronger. I agree with you that he should just be a highly valued figure and that is that.
I only get pissed cause he is such a KILLER!

i totally agree with your point about heroclix, phoenix. i too agree that the new series of Attacktix dont completely replace the oldies but goodies. i guess time will have to tell.

What heroclix gets WRONG is... ...more than this even, for sure. Then again, they must be doing something right, they sell like hotcakes. But I digress. Some re-issues are better (KC Superman vs. HT Superman), some are worse (ICONS Aquaman vs. HT Aquaman). It looks like they are up for trying a lot of different options...the new Obi with the high kick for example. Seems like 'Tix has a lot of freedom for innovation of what the Special Powers do more than anything. That's the direction I'd like to see the game designers push things.

I sure love all three of my Tsunami Hulks! The other thing Wizkids (Maybe Wizards) gets wrong is their order fulfillment.
More than once have I received doubles of my orders. THREE Tsunami hulks and TWO phasing GLs, when I only requested one.
I will not complain.
Hasbro introduced EFFECTS this series, and they take the place of SPECIAL POWERS. And along with the gunship's flight ability, these powers are changing the game. Change is good. But Wizkids when too far, because I think the way I last played the game is COMPLETELY wrong now.
Hasbro has the Star Wars license until at least 2016 (or 2018) so Attacktix has plenty of years left (more if they renew) and with that many years left, and the hope I have for Attacktix, I am certain we will see more variations of the same characters and more expanded U. But as long as they keep them fresh - Kicking Obi, Swinging Obi, Shooting Obi, I will welcome it!

EFFECTS? Would you like to elaborate? PLEASE!!! The stuff that the droids do. Like R2's attack multiplier or the Medical Droids "countdown to Rally" effect. It's not an attack, per se, and these figures may be like the Emperor in not having a special power.

back to the topic, today i got my friend hooked on attacktix. we went out to target and he bought three packs, i bought one (giving me four.) he got palpy, dooku, plo koon, shaak ti, tarrful, padme, battle droid, and two separatist clones (one chrome.) Mine had palpy, plo koon, and battle droid.
total, his army was 230, so i made a 230 point army out of my 12 figures. Anyways, he fired the second shot of the game after a miss with padme (his padme, btw, has the best spring ive ever seen.) Anyways, the secong shot of this game was by his battle droid. May I add, our playing surface is a over 7 feet long. Anyways, the shot hit my armored vader in the middle of his body and he FELL! Luckily for me, his special power activated, and he ended up with five of my team's nine kills (notables are plo koon, shaak ti, and dooku.) Mace got one kill (Palpy) and my team ended with 5 of my nine figures standing.
While vader may not be an immortal figure, his special power is in my opinion, way too good.
