Here's another thought on the Vader power, specifically whether he should be randomly grinded (ground?) before standing back up on the table. The other discussion about the clone sergeant got me thinking. Why is it that the Wookiee Commando, Agen Kolar, and Ki-Adi-Mundi all say return another defeated figure (wookiee, warrior, jedi)? I think the reason is obvious: because Hasbro is considering those three figures to be among all of your other defeated figures as soon as they are knocked down. Therefore, they have to add wording that keeps those three figures from being able to return themselves from the defeated area. With this in mind, we can then see that as soon as a figure is knocked down, even before its special power is consulted, it is considered to be a part of the defeated area. Therefore, whenever Vader is knocked down, his recover power is bringing him back from the defeated area. And the rules specifically state that you must grind any figure coming back from the defeated area. I think that's air tight! So, naturally, bring on the disagreements

That is very nice deductive thinking.

I can't find anything to argue about within that line of reasoning.

My bad guys, I wrote that in the wrong thread. It doesn't make any sense here, it is actually in response to the discussion about when is a figure considered "defeated" that originated in a different thread and then carried over to a second thread. But I'll follow up in this thread, since I already made my argument. So does that mean you all agree that you should grind Vader before standing him back up?

oops... I saw this disscussion before and I thought it was in this thread. As I guess you did too. But anyway.
I personally thought before your well thought out thought that you should grind vader before putting him back in play.
I mean, seems to me if a figure is knocked down its defeated. His special power may bring him back from that defeat, but hes still defeated. And if hes brought back in you must grind him right.

I had never played it that way before, and I still didn't when we played the other night. But we will switch to that from now on. I agree with you that it's the right way to play it, but I wasn't fully convinced until that last post I made.

Yaggleberry,...I still must disagree. If a characters ability regenerates them before they hit the defeated pile, then there is no sense in grinding them for returning to play. That's why Hasbro only made Regenerating characters that attack at point blank range. If a shooter could regenerate himself, that would be ridiculous, but strikers must move to attack. -Radar Oh yeah about Vader, should his saber break off, the cape really does make a great weapon. -Radar

Radar, you missed the boat. Read the "More Answers from Hasbro" thread. Hasbro states... "Yes, you are meant to regrind the figure after a recover power. It has always been Hasbro's intention to grind as etiquette after anytime a figure comes into play, the recover power is the same as coming back to start except with this power you pop back up where you where defeated."[/b]

When I play with someone, we just grind the figures because we feel it's more fair that way. Until some 'official' rule comes out, just agree on something and play that way, and other people can play how they want to play. Btw, just got my 5th booster pack. Clone Trooper (R), Grievous Bodyguard, and another Vader

Until some 'official' rule comes out Some 'official' rule has come out. Joe emailed Hasbro, Hasbro emailed him back. Doesn't get more official than that.

Dag'nab'it. I still like my way better, but I suppose Hasbro has the final word on these things. So that means that you can kill a figure once, it stands back up, kill it again and it may fall? Seems silly, but OK. -Radar
