The ebay thread is getting pretty off track with the discussion of protos and such. So I thought I would make this thread to take some of the load. To start this thread off, I decided to share with the masses (dwindling as they may be), my most precious proto and limited figures. I was sworn to complete secrecy when I acquired these figures, but seeing the current state attacktix is in, I really dont see what it could hurt. I will share all the information I can about the figures, but I will not divulge the sources of the figures (so please dont bother asking). My only worry is that sharing this information may hinder my ability to acquire more figures like these in the future (fingers crossed). Figure 1I received this first figure pictured above as a set of 4. The grey one is a pre production model, then there is a hand painted model, and the last one is a trial production run. Nifty little tid bit, these figures are the one and the same figures used for the pictures in the SW1 quick start guide. The one thing that bugs me about the set is I cant remember what all 4 of them are. I recall clearly the pre production, the hand painted, and the production model... But thats only 3. Figure 2This second one is the most interesting of the SW1 proto sets that I have. Its the same deal as Anakin in regards to what all of them are for... But lets take a little bit of a closer look at that pre production model. As you can see there are clear differences in the hilt of his saber, the shape of parts of his robe, and most notably the sculpt of his face compared to the final production model. In the close up of the face you can see that the pre production sculpt (on the left) is pretty dramatically different. It seems at least to me that its much more of a animated clone wars look. Figure 3Here you can see the pilot figure with that legendary translucent bullet. Why this one didnt come in a set of 4 Im not really sure of. But this picture really isnt about him anyway. this is about the unassuming green guy on the left. This is Fortress Maximus (fortmax for short). The person that I received this interesting figure from claims that it was one of the original figures ever made, and used to pitch the whole idea of attacktix to hasbro. It is a very unpolished figure, he has a seemingly hand made spring, hes not attached to the base in any way, and he has no special power sticker on the bottom. If this figure pre-dates Joe's monsters, I really can only speculate... I have no real time line, and only that small amount of information. Figure 4Just a mix of marvel and transformer protos right? Look a little closer..... Yeah, thats right. Thats an Arcee proto, looking so clean and finished she could have came right out of a booster. But would you believe I got ahold of her about a year before we even seen the first wave of transformer figures?.. And, would you believe I was able to get ahold of all this, and still, for the life of me... I cant seem to get all of the first set of silver trophy figures? But anyway, thats the most interesting I have. I have several more protos, but nothing really special at all. Please feel free to discuss, ask questions, and most of all share any interesting proto or rare figures you may have.

Thanks, Malform. That was a real treat.
I think that first (grey) Obi Wan looks better then the finished product. I like the hair.
I too hope that this doesn't hurt your chances in the future to aquire more. But, like you said, with the current state of Attacktix (dead), what's the chances?
I forgot all about those monster Attacktix. The mummy looks great. Wouldn't mind having a few of those myself.

Joe raided the cookie jar before I even knew it was sitting on the counter waiting to be raided.. lol.... I would have loved to get the monsters. Oh wells. I would completely agree about grey obi as well. He looks much better. There may be some production reasons for it though. The grey models are much more detailed than the others (same for Anakin). So maybe its not possible to mass produce a figure with that much detail in his fine haircut?

Very nice...
I'll get photos of the few I know where are soon.
I know that Arcee was going to be in the first set of TF Attacktix. I think she was only listed on one of the early lists of figures. Along with a few others that were Held over for Series 2.
I dont know how accurate it is, but I was told by someone who may actually know things, that Series 1 TF was going to have 30 figures. Along with Arcee would have been most of the Non G1 Series 2 figures, and that Series 2 was going to be almost all G1 with 30 figures, Including Ironhide, and those other figures shown as Series 2.
I have to say I'm very jealous of Fort Max there, I do find the master sword to be odd, since the Us Released toy didnt have the master sword. But its fairly obvious that whoever sculpted that was looking directly at either the ACT 3 PVC or a photo of it.
I'd like to see some larger photos of some more of your figures. If you dont mind that is.

And Ill get some better setups, with some nice pics as well... These I snapped during my lunch hour today... Didnt have good enough lighting for the macro mode, and didnt have time to get anything better setup either.

Am I the only one that wasn't shocked by the Cancellation?
I think the death of the line was Marvel. In that Hasbro hoped that Marvel would have insane huge numbers that would save the line, but we all know it didn't quite work that way.
The figures were in trouble before SW3 came out. And then with SW4 and TF1 having their lineups cut down, I was fairly sure it was the beginning of the end.
What is sad is that I didn't actually play the game until after the line died. It was after I found the M2 and SW5 starters that me and a friend actually played. It was quite quite fun. If only the toys had been marketed in a better way.
Even though Hasbro clearly has the Molds, and maybe even has production SW5, TF2, M2 stuff, what we have already is likely it. I think that the line has went from Hiatus, to grave. So its likely the well of Prototypes/test shots will dry up soon.

Oh, I agree. At this point, I'm quite certain that we won't be seeing anything new. It's such a shame. This game has so much potential it's ridiculous.
I still believe it was Transformers that lagged the most. Series 1 was mediocre and series 2 was even worse. The only bright spot for series 2 was the starter set with Megatron and Optimus. The other two figures were just rehashes. There were a few other figures that I was interested in like Soundwave and Bumblebee. Overall though, the series was lacking.
Marvel to me was great! Sure it was goofy to make a Ghost Rider starter set, but you have to admit a couple of the figures are really good. This was the best universe of the bunch. I really hate that they didn't try to expand on it more so. I think I'll try and collect the prototype set of Marvel series 2 like Buttersscotch and Attacktixman are doing.
I'd also like to get some Snowtroopers, Hoth Rebel Troopers, Plo Koon, and Lando. Those were the ones I was most excited about with series 5 Star Wars.
At this point I feel buying protos is the only way I'm ever going to get these figures.

Outstanding collection you have there Malform! Not only am I jealous that you've got them and not me, but I'm also jealous that they, up until now, were for your eyes only! Though I'm sure you had your reasons... But its fairly obvious that whoever sculpted that was looking directly at either the ACT 3 PVC or a photo of it. That's exactly what I thought as soon as I looked at it! The figure doesn't have the exaggerated features that have come to identify the Attacktix line. It's more anime-ish and stylized, just like the ACT/HOC series. I think the death of the line was Marvel. I still believe it was Transformers that lagged the most. No matter which series sold the worst, the blood is ultimately on Hasbro's hands. Like GE said, so much potential. Even though I love TFs and that series is what pulled me into this, I have to agree with you GE. TF-S1 was very lackluster, and contained very few characters that would be recognizable to the casual fan. G1 should have been partly included, and maybe some Beast Wars also, since the series was in it's 10th anniversary back in '06. I love Energon and Cybertron, as silly as they may have been, but those 2 alone weren't enough to sell TF-S1 to most people. Marvel had great sculpts and great ideas, but for some reason they seemed to linger on shelves here longer than the other 2 universes. The Ghost Rider Starter was a big let down I'm sure, but I just found it strange how even the boosters would collect dust. Oh well, it is what it is.

The basic jist of what I was told by people I think were in the know, is that Attacktix were on life support before Series 3 SW Came out. The molds for TF1 were Done LONG before we as a group knew of their release. Hasbro came up with the Idea of Splitting Transformers Series 1 and 2, into Three Series. The first series one Checklist I ever saw, had Strongarm, Arcee, Galvatron (as a booster figure), and other figures from the "armada-verse", And Series 2 was Stocked full of G1 Awesome (Grimlock, Grapple, Ironhide, Soundwave, etc). I believe it was somewhere around this time it was decided that Attacktix was failing a bit, so someone decided to split 2 30 Figure Series into 3 18 figure Series. (Prime and Megatron, were in the original list of Series 2 I saw).
Truthfully I really don't know where the blame should be placed, I really think that if Hasbro had banked on the G1 Toys more so than the ArmadaVerse, It may have worked out better.
I still have Cases and cases of boosters and Starters, that are just waiting for the return of the line. I dont think its happening. Sadface.
But this was another instance of me derailing the topic. All of this could be another 2 threads: 1) When did attacktix die, and what killed it? 2) What preproduction info did you see or hear that was changed, what could have been!
I just today noticed one of my Testshot Series 1 TFs is holding a test shot Solo blaster. I need to get some photos of these guys. And I need to get the battle cases fixed back on the wall and take a picture of my Black and Chrome sets.
Hmmm I may need some more battle cases...

I just thought I should add the link to Joe's awesome monsters to this thread. I wonder if those are the only ones ever produced? You'd think that maybe, just maybe, there's more floating around out there somewhere. 1) When did attacktix die, and what killed it?I still don't believe it's entirely dead. On the shelf, but not dead. The product flew off the shelves when it first hit. Series 2 was from what I could tell a success. So if it was starting to tapper, it wasn't from lack of sales. It must have been from manufacturing costs and expenses. I feel they hit a brick wall with S4, TF1. Then they came out with MV1 and it's hard for me to argue with Butterscotch that maybe Hasbro was looking for MV1 to determine future production. Maybe we should start a different discussion instead of posting it here. I don't know if it really matters or not, seems how there's such a small handful of us who will probably post anyways. Now back on topic........ I have a bullet that was, I guess, a proto at one time. I got them from a guy in Hong Kong. Sold them to me for a very good price, and I'm glad I didn't pass them up. You can see it in my avatar in Godzilla's mouth. I'll try to get a better picture of it up if you guys want to see it a little closer. This bullet rocks! It works in all the force blaster figures and really packs a punch. Anyone who owns one of these knows what I'm talking about. I wish they would have stuck to something closer to these instead of the clear force blasts they did go with.

Ummm... so which is it. If we won't be seeing anything new I'd say that qualifies as "dead" Series 1 was mediocre and series 2 was even worse. Series 2 was worse? How can we judge a series that was never actually released? There could have been some amazing figures/specials, etc. in that set.

Though that does seem like an aufull small amount of figures doesnt it? I have one of those giant red missiles as well. But unfortunately they are not attacktix missiles. Im pretty sure they were never even intended to be for attacktix, I think it may be a fluke that they even work with them.... Yes, it saddens me a little to say... That missile belongs to the "laser blastin electronic buzz lightyear"... As seen here:

Dead in terms of what Hasbro currently will do (or not do).
What I think GE is saying is that there is some finished product out there somewhere. We know this from Brett pulling a Gamorrean Guard and Lando from an actual Booster. So the question is how much finished product actually was made even for let's say SW5? There may be enough to at some point to release it for sale. In my mind someone at Hasbro certainly has done a Cost Analysis; obviously the number crunching shows its not cost effective to put out anything more in its current form which is why we heard "Hiatus" and "Relaunch". Why continue to lose money, no good company purposely does that.
So Dead, but maybe, just maybe, an ever so slight chance of a resurrection. Back from the Dead, wouldn't that be nice?
Ok, who can get me one, just one of those Buzz missiles? PM me...

Those Monster Attacktix are among the coolest protos I've seen! If anyone knows any more about them, please post! Judging from the paint jobs on them, however, I don't think they intended to seriously release them. The Monster paint jobs are far superior to any Attacktix produced, and more akin to an artistic collectors item.
