Does anyone know how to upload a DVD camera disc to a computer? And when I do upload it,is it possible to edit it? I'm trying to upload the TixCon 08 stuff, but I just can't get it to work.

Yes. Put the DVD in the drive (if it has a spindle, not a open-tray style) and see if it loads. What kind of camera - is it a Sony Mavica?

Is the DVD from a video camera that recorded directly onto it? If so, the camera should have came with software that will enable your computer to interface with the disc, and you would need to load that program onto your computer first.
HTH

Uhh, it's called a Sony Handycam...I'm not too into cameras,so I don't know if it's good or not Is the DVD from a video camera that recorded directly onto it? HTH No,it records on a 1 hour double sided DVD,but I'm not sure if it's 1 hour on both sides separately,or 1 hour in total recording time with both sides together...but it did come with a USB cord that I'm not exactly sure what it's for...maybe pictures or something

If the media is in the camera and you have installed the software it came with you can plug in the USB cable and should be directed to an appropriate application to download the content.
Are you trying to get still images are video off of the camera?
What do you want to do with the content in the end (different output is handled differently).
Do tell.

I'm trying to get the video (DVD disc) onto the computer to upload it online.. the weird thing part is we have the USB cable, but I'm almost positive we never got a CD with the software for it..unless it's a plug that just happens to fit in the camera. I just want to know what to do before the DVD is finalized just in case if I mess up or anything

Well if you're nervous about accidentally erasing the material you could first copy it onto a disk via hooking it up to your DVD and copying it. That is if you have a DVD recorder. Do you? We've done that with some of our tapes for preservation.
I really want to help so that I can see some of the video. Did you watch it yet? Did you get some good stuff?

Are you on a PC or Mac?
Do you have any video software aside from what came with the OS?

I'm on a windows XP laptop with a DVD player in it,so I guess that there's something different that it plays the DVD movies through, unless if it plays it through windows media player. I haven't tried it out yet.

Alright, that should do it. Only 1 more question though...Would Windows movie maker allow me to edit it?Cause I looked over the video and my sisters are on half of the DVD doing random stuff. Definitely want to put music in the backround and chop up their random moments out of the final cut if I can.

Yes, it isn't as friendly as iMovie or other pay-for programs, but you can edit it with WMM. Put some of the cuts on youtube and link so we can see.
