That's actually a reasonable idea.
If we all stuck some fliers in and around places where Attacktix players might congregrate, there could add quite a bit of support to the petition. But would people have enough inititive to actually type in the internet address to the petition, or are people just to lazy?

But would people have enough inititive to actually type in the internet address to the petition, or are people just to lazy? Being that people are too lazy to even click their way to the petition, I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt. I tried something like this, on a smaller scale. I sell various collectibles on eBay, and for that past 2 months I've been throwing a SW/TF checklist into the box before I ship any of my items. I've got a ton of them, so I thought they might catch someone's eye and make them curious. Also, inside the little plastic bag that the list comes in, I threw in a tiny "business card" with the url of the petition written on it. It's hard to tell if anyone has actually paid any attention to them, but I'd like to think they've helped a bit. Fliers would be great. There are a few local gaming shops, aside from the one I regularly patronize, that would probably be a good place to leave a stack of fliers.

This is just a random idea, and may not even be legal : ) but what if you threw in an incentive for signing. Like if you sign you'd have a chance to win your own starter set. Draw it at random. Or maybe it could be something related to the petition. People always want free stuff ; )

My concern with the fliers is...
Fliers = Litter
I've found that people pay little attention to fliers unless they already have a pre existing interest in the fliers content. I'm not saying it won't work but is it worth it to print up 1000 flyers to only snag 2 new players.
My neighborhood gets periodically bombed with fliers (darn Scientologists) and take-out menus. All of which either blow around on the ground or end up in the trash/recycling.

Yeah. If there were still product on the shelves, I could see attaching fliers to them (or slip them inside of starter sets). But without people seeing and knowing the product, I'm not sure how effective it would be.

Hey, I'm a big fan of the environment too, so I'm not suggesting that we go around and slap them on cars or throw them on people's doorsteps. I was thinking more along the lines of leaving a stack of them near the cash register in any of our local hobby/gaming shops. That way the fliers only leave the building with those that are interested, thus cutting down on potential litter (hopefully).

I'm guessing I should get my deposit back on the plane I was going to rent so I could fly over each major city dropping fliers on peoples heads. ;D If most people aren't motivated enough to sign it while they are sitting on their butts in front of the computer. I don't see much hope of them seeing a flier, going home, logging on, and then signing it. People are indeed lazy and want something simple. I do have a question though. How come we can't attach some sort of siteometer (not sure what to call this) onto the petition page? What I am talking about is when I make an ebay auction page, I can see how many people visited or looked at my auction because there is a thing up at the top that tells me. Is there a way to attach something like that to the petition just to see if maybe people are in fact looking at the site, but are reluctant to sign for one reason or another. Let's face it, if my son came to me and said he was going to sign a petition on a toy that I had no care for at all, I wouldn't let him sign it. But, if we can at least see if people are in fact looking at the petition, we could use that as a positive.

I hear ya. Let's face it, there's over 1,000 members on this board and yes people lose interest in things, but c'mon, get your butts in gear and sign the petition! Attacktix is still a fun, great game, for kids and adults alike, even with no new figures coming out. So let's do it!

But, if we can at least see if people are in fact looking at the petition, we could use that as a positive. I'm pretty sure I could add a counter to the petition, but the petition would no longer be free for me. That's part of the "Premium Services" package, which requires a fee to upgrade the account. I'd gladly do it if I thought it'd really be beneficial, but I think it will only depress me to see how many people look without signing! As far as fliers gaining new signers for the petition, I don't count on swaying people that have already chosen not to sign. I think it would be more of a way to get people that haven't seen the petition yet. I'm sure there are some people out there that liked Attacktix, but never bothered to check the internet for any news. If we can (hopefully) get that target audience through hobby shops and other places, I think it would help us in the long run..... Even if it isn't much. You never know. Since word-of-mouth kept this game alive, maybe it can bring it back! And I completely agree that most people are lazy, but we might be able to find the ones that aren't! ;D

If it costs money, I wouldn't waste it on adding on a counter service. To me I feel you have went above and beyond as it is. Posted by attacktixman on Today at 11:24am I hear ya. I fear that our numbers are skewed to a large degree. Look at the bottom and see how many are actually signing on in a daily, weekly, or even a monthly basis anymore. Over a 1000 members looks good on paper, but in reality, we are only a handful anymore. That is why we can't get anywhere with the petition. Most of us have already moved on.

Ya, you're right, only a few faithful remain. Some who were heavy hitters don't seem to be around anymore.

Ya, you're right, only a few faithful remain. Some who were heavy hitters don't seem to be around anymore. Yes, this place really is a shadow of it's former self. I do enjoy the new "Active Users In The Past 24 Hours" feature that now appears at the bottom of the main forum page. Some of the people that I thought had completely disappeared are apparently still alive! I'm pretty sure I convinced all of the currently active members to sign the petition, but it seems that it's not going any further than that. Several of you guys have been 100% awesome with the initiative that you've shown by contacting others about what we're doing. For the others.... It must be too much to ask for them to email their friends about this. We're really fortunate that so many action figure sites agreed to advertise our petition (about a dozen at this point). Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the signature count that we have right now. Not that it's a spectacular number or anything, but it's still pretty darn good for a bunch of guys that play with "the silliest, stupidest, ugliest, wierdest & biggest wastes of plastic on the planet". ;D
