I have been playing attacktix for a couple of years now and when you have played that long you come up with different ways to play the game. My friends and I have one main variation that we like to play. What we do is we each pick out our teams (usually 100 - 200 points), then we each pick out a captain. The main rules for attacktix stay the same except that when any of the figures gets knocked over, on the next turn we can stand him back up next to the captain. the only way to win is if you knock over your opponents captain and then defeat the rest of there team. It is fun and harder than a regular game of attacktix (and it also takes forever to finish one game).
Another variation that we came up with is similar but instead of a captain each team has two bases that they can re spawn at, and to win you have to capture all the bases.
So those are the two that I play the most and i was wondering if you guys had any variations that you came up with?

I like your capture the base to win Idea. What do you use for a base?

I like your capture the base to win Idea. What do you use for a base? When we play we play on a ping-pong table and we use the whole thing so we have alot of room. We use books as our bases. We have this rule for when we use 3D objects that depending on how tall it is thats how many ticks it takes to get on top. So if its a bigger book we say that it costs two ticks to jump from the board onto the book. I have built several different objects from wood like platforms and things like that that we use. It makes the game a whole lot more fun ( and harder).

Has anyone compiled a list of game variations? I feel like I've heard a lot of great ideas in the year or so that I've been into this. It would be nice to compile them.
Assuming attacktix is dead, I guess its up to us to work out the official rules for terrain and things like that.

This is a good place to review alternate rules, and add them if you develop a good set as well: attacktix.wikia.com/wiki/House_Rules#Transformers

We play three main variants, with one universal house rule: That all figures get to attack each turn.
The variants are: Continuity. Select an era. Each player selects one of the two sides from that era, and builds a squad. Something like: Rebels vs. Empire. But the Empire squad can also include Sith, from the Rebellion era, etc.
Standard. A normal game plus our universal rule.
Grab'n'Growl! All figures are stood up in the center of the table. On the count of three, all players reach out and grab as many as they can. This becomes your squad. The strategy here is to place the useless Battle Masters close to your opponent, and Wicket and Logray close to you.
Additionally, we have some "Mix'n'Match" rules. These vary game by game, independently of variant.
1. Capture the Central Flag.
2. Emperor does not die, but converts to team which kills him, with one turn recovery period.
3. This is almost a universal rule: If the Emperor brings a possessed figure back to his(the Emperor's) starting area, that figure becomes part of the Emperor's team permanently.
4. Dead pile=backups. This is useful as we rarely actually use backups.

me and my friends play with video games as terrain. And we did once play on a ping pong table but we used these wheel things and started attacktix bowling. That destroyed the table and got my freind grounded

My Friend sammy and I just tested out a new way to play. we get two boards, and add "portals" to teleport to another board. it's normally fun with around 200 to 500 points worth each.

We play three main variants, with one universal house rule: That all figures get to attack each turn. Finally! Someone else who believes that all figures on the table should be able to attack! Me and my brother used to play original rules - only 2 figures attacking per turn, but that ultimately led to only the strikers duking it out while everyone else stands around, which in turn led to the remaining strikers wiping out said crowd of useless army. The best way to play is to allow one team to first move its entire army, then the second team gets to move its entire army. Strikers must be allowed to attack during movement phase if they end their move next to an enemy (otherwise said enemy would simply move out of range during its move). If a striker attacks during the team's movement phase, it cannot attack again during the combat phase, and must wait until next turn. Now, if a striker hadn't attacked during the team's movement phase, it certainly can attack during its combat phase if an enemy figure is dumb enough to end its turn during its movement phase next to a striker. During combat phase (after each team has moved all of its figures), teams alternate attacks - Team One attacks with one figure, then Team Two attacks with one figure, then Team one attacks with a different figure, the Team Two... etc., until both teams have allowed all figures to attack, at which time the turn ends, and the next turn begins with Team One moving all of its figures. This game play works great! And it allows your entire army to actually do something rather than sit around on the battlefield unused (what's the point of a 300 point battle when only 2 figures get to do something per turn? lots of standing around for lots of figures....). Anyway, that's our take on playing Attacktix, and we've been playing the game this way since they came out - much more interesting than original rules! Try it out!
