One of my VERY favorite guys had his little rubber wheel disintegrate. Any hints on repair? This one's got even ME stumped...

Oh, man. I had one of my Orange Clone troopers (from the starter) blow a wheel at the Comic -Con tournament 3 minutes before it started. I was freaking out.
Anyway, I've been thinking about it. You should be able to switch them out with another. I'm not sure if it is universal between all figures or if the axle is different between base sizes. I recommend that you practice with an extra clone trooper before performing surgery on your favorite figures. You should be able to take a thin or angular (trapezoid) razor blade vertically to separate the top (outer) part of the base from the bottom (inner) part. then "transplant" your axles and you should have a successful surgery.
Best of luck, and remember even the best surgeons practiced before going pro, so get a clone and have at it.
Oh, and I almost forgot, kids don't play with razor blades and adults; focus, be careful, cut away from the body, and don't cut any thing you like, self included.

sfx5000 and I put together a couple of tutorials that might serve as guides about how to do what Radar's suggesting, for reference I would imagine that the axle length differs between base sizes, as otherwise, the axle would either be too short to fit in large-based figures, or too long to fit in small-based figures without sticking out of the sides of the base.

I had the same thing happen to my son's medic droid. I have not tried to fix it because the medic droid has no special so when he wants to move it we use a trooper to see were to place the medic droid. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

My chrome Han lost his rubber wheel. So I busted open a smaller based figure to do the axle switch... DUMB! It has to be the same size base (I couldn't get JUST the rubber to come off and go back on)
So then I ultimately swapped it with the same size base and it works fine, but I lost the tip of my finger in the process. But you can chalk that up to my lack of focus... try to get some sleep before you use any sharp tools.

But you can chalk that up to my lack of focus... try to get some sleep before you use any sharp tools. Here's what I did, with poor results. I killed an ATST Driver, took his rubber wheel. Cut the rubber wheel in one spot, CLEANLY, then put a dab of super glue on it. Held against Obi-Wan's wheel for 10 minutes. WORKED WELL! Slowly put a few more dabs of glue and rotated. WORKED WELL! Used hemostat (why would I have one of those...??LOL) to pinch ends together while glue set. WORKED WELL! After 20 minutes, tried to roll. NO DICE! He rolls backwards exceptionally well, but forwards, not at all. Also, he moves MUCH further in between clicks; a Jedi Knight clicks 15-16 times where Obi-Wan clicks 12 for the same distance. Surgery tonight; will kill a Bossk and see if I can steal his 'rubber' and place it on Obi-Wan's wheel...Axle size shouldn't matter as the rubber wheels are uniform. Will publish results, and thank you ALL so much for being so helpful. My chrome Han lost his rubber wheel. So I busted open a smaller based figure to do the axle switch... DUMB! How curious - well, at least you're willing to share your experiences with us, superflytnt! Hopefully, we can all learn from them. And I hope that the Obi-Wan that derubbered wasn't the one I sent And Joe - DID YOU GET YOURSELF TO A HOSPITAL, MAN?!?

I am so glad to hear that Bossk filled out his Organ Donor Card. It's great to know that he won't be going to waste.
God's Speed Obi Wan, and may the force be with you as well as our prayers! ;D

Yes, it was the Obi Wan...1 game and the wheel disintegrated like a 3$ watchband. MF Kenobi...d**n. I guess that's what I get for sending figures I haven't playtested Sorry that my apparent ineptitude in figure selection is causing you such problems. At any rate, I think that the idea Radar was advancing was to transplant the entire axle, rather than messing around with carving out bits and pieces of it. That way, you don't have to worry about such extreme surgical maneuvers.

I'm thinking I'd just swap out the base using a heat gun and something sharp. But thats just me.

Well, here's some new info:
The rubber wheels peel away pretty easily, so during the Bossk appeasiotomy I learned that a VERY thin blade is pretty good for seperating the glue bond. I initially tried a few chemicals, but the thermoplastic is SOOOO soft that anything melts it and makes it so malleable that a paper towel wipes the plastic away....so I went with the knife. He came apart with NO ease, and I snapped his bottom plate to get at his guts. Like I said, the rubber tire came right off, with no problems. Obi-Wan, that's tonight. Any TRIED AND TRUE ways to open him up without damaging him?

NO, Phoenix is a nurse, and she says it was just the "padding" on the fingertip so I doctor wouldn't do much. So we just took the lump of skin that was in my lap, held it in place and bandaged it back up. My finger looks pretty good now, but you can see a faint circle of the old missing pad.
