I've been playing 200 point matches almost exclusively after TNT's Tourney in July, due to the immense popularity. I played a 1800 point match (per side, only 200 points of backups on top of that) yesterday evening from 7PM until about 11PM, with 8 attacks per side, and that was UGLY.
What is the best team sizes to play with?

I'm a huge fan of 150 point squads with 80 point backups. 100 point games are fun for quick battles but they don't have much strategy and 200 games go a tiny bit long but allow for a ton of strategic figure picking. A good 150 point game has both of these elements. At least, that's the theory.

I used to like 100pt games, but when you start getting competitive, it makes figures greater than 20pts difficult to use.
200pts gives you a whole lot more variety, though I do really like 150pt games with 80pt backups. We used to play those when I didn't have enough figures to make three 200pt teams, and that was a really good point value to play at.

200pt seems to be the most rounded, 100 is fun, but more than 300 just seems to be too long of a game, there is too much time and effort invested, the point of the game is lost, fun. Not that there is anything wrong with playing huge matches, they are good from time to time, but i have to say 200 is where i'm at

I like how important each move, figure, and attack are in a 100 point game. I prefer the concept of a battle in a small room than an all out war. It's just more dramatic.
In fact, some times (instead of 100 points) I'll play a 1 figure game against someone. I think the game is more fun when you can't afford to lose a figure.

I prefer 400 point games. They take about 1.5 - 2 hrs to play. 400 point games resemble the large-scale battles, but it is far more challenging and is much more complex (strategy-wise). 100 point games I consider Basic Training, with very little strategy (only 1 or 2 crucial figures to take out, the rest is clean-up - not much thinking about that one). 400 point games throws you into the war. You have to be 5-6 steps ahead of your opponent on several fronts, and remember a gazillion specials in order to establish a pecking order. Way way fun.

I waver back and forth... I enjoy 100 point games, but as has been mentioned, it makes most figures 30 pts and above hard to use.
I like 150ish best - it's not too long and you can get figures in there who normally would be ill-advised in a 100 point game (such as the Medic Droid and/or many 40 point figures).
Superflytnt you played an 1800 pt game? Wowsa.

Superflytnt you played an 1800 pt game? Wowsa. Sad thing is I didn't use all of my figures and I was the one supplying all the figs for that match! It was like 4 S4 Vaders, 4 S2-38 Obi Wans, 4 Gold KAMS/PloKoons, a slew of random Jedi (including 5 Agens and 3 Kits), a slew of Republic, and a slew of Empire Versus 20 Battle Droids, 4 Destroyers, 4 Grievouses, 3 ATRTs, Jabba, 4 Gunships, 4 Dookus, 3 IG88s, 3 Tarkins, 3 S4 Boba Fetts, 4 S4 Lukes, 14 Royal Guards from S4 and S2, and a bunch of lil guys and Clone Commanders. The worst of all of that was the 7 Battle Droid Cmdrs and the 4 Gold Nutes. They brought back many a destroyer and Grievous. It was UGLY.

I tend to lean towards 100 point games myself. They are "quick and dirty", every figure and attack counts, and there is less of a margin for error. Of course, I'm happy to play games of any size.

I love 300 pt teams with unlimited back-ups, the point total's enough to feild three amazing 100 pt teams or allows you to test out a new fig for your team without having to take out some of your best guys (As you would in a lesser point game). The Stradegey and time are also great, not being too long or too short, and no matter what you do you'll always have enough guys for flanking manuevers (I love them, took out Vader, SOP, and Flying Fett with Chirpa by doing this (and having a Wicket come up white)

LOL - I tend to agree with the 200-300 point position; it does make for a longer game, but the complexities of the game are multiplied, and the team selection becomes much deeper when trying to pair troopers to support the big guns. Further, it allows (like the Greev said) for flanking and more squad-based tactics rather than the 100-point matches where you get one 'King' figure and a bunch of 'Pawns'.

I like 200. It tends to be well balanced. Anything over that, you need Battlemasters to fill out the team well.

Unless you get games past 650 points, I'll just keep pouring Jedi Knights onto the field At any rate, because standard tournies are 100 points, that's what I practice most. However, as has been stated before, the 200 point game lets higher-point figures into the game more effectively, though they can still be overwhelmed by 10-point striker teams.
