Hey, he has a 200,000 Megabyte capacity! What's not to like? ---Dave Edit P.S. I tend to gravitate towards more obscure characters, especially in my fanfic. The reason I returned to Mainframe for a custom, though, is that a friend of mine has become a big fan of the character since reading my fanfic, and when I run out of stuff I want to do for myself, I do tend to ask, "What would my friends think is cool?"

Mainframe reference. My personal copy has an Autobot symbol on the chest. The head doesn't turn, but otherwise the joints still work (although with some paint scraping inevitable, so I try not to move 'em much). I suppose if I ever get an Attacktix R2 or similar unit, I might make Pushbutton. ---Dave

A fairly simple one to follow Mainframe. Lorenzo Archangeli, one of the most potent Anchors in the world, one of those individuals able to shut down the paranormal abilities of others. This figure represents Rebus during the brief period between losing his eye and clearly breaking with the CSV, wearing his modified "Deep Armageddon" armor sans helmet. M02 Punisher is the base figure. Putty was used to smooth the belt, add wristbands, build up the armored front of the suit, and add mustache and eyepatch. The + and - chest symbols are molded into the chest. The sword hilt was taken from a dollar store Gundam knockoff's sword, with the scabbard shaped from a 1x4mm styrene plank. It's snapped to a hardpoint on the armor, so no need for a strap. I made the Special Ability placard from sheet and rod styrene. In-story, Rebus has finer control of his Anchor ability than that, but I figured a "hose everyone" power would be simplest, and not require boosting his point total. He's such a master planner that he can negate Specials that aren't even paranormal in nature. On the off chance another Anchor is on the field, they don't negate each other's Anchor Special, but Rebus's "Last Stand" Special will cease to function so long as an enemy Anchor is around (if a friendly Anchor is around, Last Stand doesn't work anyway).

Despite her appearance, the Base of the Pillar is a rather frightened young girl. In the 2020s, her native Iran's view towards paranormals is that they are to be killed as demonic abominations, and their entire families usually get killed too, just in case, unless they quietly kill the child before anyone finds out. Base's parents, however, claimed that she had run away one night, but that Allah gave life to the stone outside their house to provide them with a new child. Recruited into the Moslem Confederation's "Righteous Flame" team (which also counts Scirocco among its members), she never speaks, pretending to be practically mindless, although she does still pray, as befits her assumed role. She was crushed by the World Serpent in 2025 and presumed dead, but instead a far more feminine crystalline entity arose from the buried rubble, and now goes by the name Geode. Her parents know she is alive, but she has to pretend to be someone else entirely (she passes herself off as an Egyptian-American) to protect them from reprisals. The base figure is the striker Chewbacca. I removed the bandolier and satchel, reduced the height of the head and carved away most of the face. Removing the figure from the base ended up tearing away part of the base itself (oops), so I used sheet styrene to create footprints, to ensure that the feet would be flat enough to glue over the holes securely. I glued the fingers together (the drawing of her from the cover of ASH #50 has three fingers, but I couldn't get that to work, so I settled on two) before surrounding them in putty. I used a LOT of Milliput to build this one up, almost none of the original figure was visible under it by the time I was done. Rather than making nice smooth surfaces like I usually do, I deliberately used the sander heads on my Dremel to create rough, striated surfaces. The paint was pewter gray with country gray highlights, then I covered it all in a brown ink wash and applied highlights of sandstone and territorial beige. Raw Umber and black were used to deepen the eye and mouth pits. All articulation (just the arms) was retained. I changed the Rally power to affect all Moslem Confederation figures, since there's really just Scirocco. He can bring her out of Back-ups, and she can bring him back. ---Dave

I decided to grab another Marvel booster, promising myself I'd kitbash at least one of the figures, somehow. Drew Elektra and Venom, both of which I'd modified before, so I decided a more radical alteration was called for. I decided to make Elektra into the Chinese telekinetic, Breaker, giving her some sort of new melee attack to represent a short-ranged TK smack. After some fiddling around, I replaced the existing right forearm with a hand from a collapsing-gimmick Shredder, giving her a missile as a club. The original costume doesn't have a skirt, but there was no way to remove it entirely from the Elektra figure, so I figured she'd decided to deploy butt-coverage. She bleaches her hair to a sort of tea color, then dyes one lock yellow. With her larger striker and new power, she might be worth closer to 20 points, but since I'm not really worried about using her in a tournament, I left the point total alone. ---Dave

Another great custom, I think you're the best customizer out of everyone here.

Just a little Work In Progress shot to whet the appetite. Stranglehold is one of the Pretenders, where the robot would go inside a semi-organic shell that was either a giant warrior or a monster (or a beast or a vehicle, etc...some of the Pretenders got wacky). The blob by the foot is just some poster putty I'm using to keep shavings frmo falling into the workings of the tix. Some of the putty still needs to harden enough to let me shape it, so I won't be able to start painting until tomorrow. Similarly with my girder-swinging Elektra-mod (which I'm not taking a WiP pic of). ---Dave

Finished this one before Stranglehold, as the design and paint job were both simpler. In ASH #50, the Base of the Pillar was crushed by the World Serpent, and given a burial where she lay. But the spirit of geomantic sorceress TerraStar was looking for a host body, and she pulled Base's body back together, breathing life into the dying embers and helping her evolve into a more human-like crystalline form. As part of her long term plans, TerraStar influenced this new being into seeking sanctuary from ASH, who outfitted her with a new costumed identity and false background as Geode. Geode now claims to be an Egyptian-American, hence the costume motifs. No drawing available, but I built this HeroClix a while back. ---Dave
