Green Goblin's Glider (that's kind of hard to say). For the life of me, I could not force the tabs into the cloud, so naturally he would not stay upright for long. I whittled away the tiniest sliver of plastic from one of the tabs and now he fits in nicely. This might be a silly question, but here goes... from a tournament point of view, is this a modification? Is he no longer legal? I lose sleep over such things.

Though I am not sure, I believe that he would be Tournament legal. Reason being, it's not like you gave him a new gun, you just made sure that he can stand on his dust cloud easier.

Well, some of this would boil down to how noticeable it is in the first place. If there's lots and lots of distressed plastic around the pegs, then someone might look askance at it. However, if the pegs look relatively clean, and the figure can still move out of the cloud, I doubt this would be the sort of mod that would make it illicit for tournament play. You're making the figure act as it was designed to act, not in some special manner. In tournament settings, we'd tend to look for figures that are noticeably different, not subtly so.

Good! I was kind of worried that maybe he was designed to not set quite right in the cloud, making him easier to knock off because now he's remarkably sturdy.

Another old thread, but I gotta ask since I finally got into Marvel Attacktix just recently: I had a terrible time getting my Green Goblin in the cloud as well. I decided that, since I already have the New Green Goblin, I wasn't going to miss out on anything if I planted the old Goblin firmly on the cloud. However, in doing this, I cut the string and superglued him on the cloud. Now he can't fly, but he's also more firmly on his cloud. Is this illegal? I was going to glue him on the cloud with or without the string, but the string got in the way, so I cut it. I'd rather have a figure I can use than a super bad flying figure who cannot even stand on his cloud. If I didn't glue him on the cloud, I would've just tossed him in the garbage - he couldn't stand on his cloud for anything.

It would be an illegal figure for tournament use, as any modification at all is a "no no". But seeing as how you really degraded your figure rather than enhancing it with your modifications, I doubt anyone would make a fuss.

Green Goblin is an extremely sturdy figure, when attached to his cloud firmly. Most KOs I make on GG are when I can bump him off of his cloud, rather than a full knock-down. Being as how he's now glued to the base, I think he may be too sturdy. Sure, you lose the ability to fly and launch uppercut pumpkin bombs, but now he has super endurance. I wouldn't be willing to face that figure in a tournament.

I haven't tested his durability yet, but that's what I was afraid of - making him too sturdy. I just didn't have any other choice besides throwing him out, because he could not sit on his cloud. If I balanced him just right and didn't breathe too hard or bump the table, he might be able to wobble on his cloud for a few seconds. He was simply a crappy crappy mold. So it was superglue or the wastebasket.

See, my green goblin falls over attached much much more often then being knocked off his little cloud.
The thing that makes me think gluing GG to his cloud is just a bad idea, (and basically ruins the figure) is that now he cant fly. The flight is what really makes him worth playing... If he didnt fly, I would never use him at all.

I love Green Goblin but have to say that a mod is a mod. I have a ghost rider who is going to hell so if I take something and strengthen his chain with it is it a mod? Yeah. Certain things in life suck, and that includes having to find another Green Goblin figure or having to buy a whole bunch of garbage figures that come with a Ghost Rider. If I put brass bearings in that Jabba the hut marble shooter do I still get to use it?

Yes, but where's the line? If someone put a better-than-average spring in all of their figures (subtly) and you called them on it, they could just say that these figures are all 100% new and have never been used or some such garbage. In this case, I think it should be declared and disclosed as to the reasoning behind the mod. I can't see the downside to it, but I'm not sure what the rules are if a 'stringed' figure gets knocked off a base - is it killed or no? The main reason to visit that point is that if 2 GGs are opposing each other, one modded and one not, does that not give the modified one an unfair advantage?
