Thing is as unkillable as Super Optimus Prime.
I've played in a handfull of games with Thing, not nearly as many as I've played with and against Super Optimus Prime, but he just doesn't go down. Not ever. I've seen medium missile shots inside of 5 tix just bounce right off without Thing's base even leaving the ground. To make matters worse, his head sits right in the way of the best target to shoot at on his body, and being round it deflects shots instead of being knocked over when you shoot the head. Just fooling around I fired Gambit at Thing about ten times or so to test how powerful Gambit was, and these were at a fairly close(5-10tix) range. None of those shots were kills.
I can't say this without more play experience, but Thing might even be tougher than Super Optimus Prime. Thing is neutrally balanced, while Super Optimus Prime leans forward, which will mean that Thing will be harder to kill from behind than Optimus. I'm also pretty good at killing Super Optimus Prime with close ranged medium missile shots, and as I said before, I've seen those bounce harmlessly off of Thing.
I wasn't impressed with Thing at first, since I thought he was an inferior Kit Fisto, but if he's as unkillable as Super Optimus Prime, he might actually be somewhat worth 30pts.

I use Thing to swing "backwards" (to get an uppercut) and thus click his arm back so that it can be a good swing. When his arm is in this postion, Thing is very easily knocked down my a missile shot to his front.
However, I have noticed that when his arm is in it's normal spot (as if you were going to use a downward swing) then those same front shots don't always work - so I guess the moral is, if you don't swing with Thing on your turn, make sure his arm is clicked into this position!
I haven't played enough games yet to know if Thing is as much of a tank as Optimus.

I`VE done some testing on this.... and have only gotten one point blank kill againt him, the tactic always works vs SOP... though my SOP's survived stricker attacks and my THINGS alwats go down.

Good strikes can take out Thing if they hit high enough and hard enough, but I've only had one shot at more than 10 tix ever take out Thing. I shot Gambit at him from about 20 tix because I had nothing else to aim at and he went down. Since he had repelled at least 10 shots at much closer range (and killed the shooters) we just stared for a moment in disbelief and couldn't repeat the shot in 20 tries. He is definitely one of if not the most difficult Marvel piece to take out, especially with shooters.

Oh man... that is pretty scary. Just the thought that there are figures out there possibly harder to kill than Super Optimus... do Strikers take Thing out as easily as Super Optimus Prime?

At least in my experience, yes. Furthermore, I'm able to take down Thing consistently at 12 Tix with "Western Ghost Ridrer" shooting Thing in the chin.

OK, sounds like Super Optimus Prime is still better... no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to hit his chin...
