ok since Sandman can turn into Sand and like has unlimited amount of sand why not make a figure of him and have like mabye 1-2 inches of just like plastic sand around his whole base so he cant be attacked by strikers.. I guess the same could go for Hydro Man ( atleast i think thats his name?/ you know the guy from spider man just like sand man)
This would prove a great strategy for just charging and not worring about strikers

Maybe, but I think that it should have at least some room for striking, so an all-striker team isn't out of luck if an opponent has Sandman in play.

yea but it would have to be so only like a few stikers would have a chance not short strikers only long

yea but it would have to be so only like a few stikers would have a chance not short strikers only long Err...that's unlikely to work. It'd also make that figure nearly impervious to launcher attacks, as well (remember, adding another inch or two around the base would be nearly equivalent to making that figure's base the same size as a Mega's). So if you wanted these figures to be Megas, I suppose I could see the utility of the concept; otherwise, your attempt to spite one type of attack ends up making both types of attacks futile.

I think he meant a ring around the figure, not a ring around the base.

I think he meant a ring around the figure, not a ring around the base. Hrm...his original post read "have like mabye 1-2 inches of just like plastic sand around his whole base," which leads me to believe he meant the plastic sand to be around the base. Even if it were a detachable ring in some way, for all intents and purposes, it would act like a part of an extended base. Otherwise, a ring of sand around the figure would basically entail having sand sprinkled over the diameter of the base As the largest base for a non-Mega figure is about 2", it wouldn't be much of a change, so I'm not sure how a ring of sand around a figure would stop an effective striking attack.

Ok picture this sanman standing in the middle of a base..
then about mabye 2-3 inches out from his feet going off the base is sand so strikers cant attack him... like this
sand ^ end of base sand--------- fig ---------sand end of base ^ sand
it wouod be like that but and all around coming from his feet

Okay, I think I understand what you're saying. You'd have sand around the feet of the figure, jutting away from the base so that it is hovering over the ground. The amount of sand would be just long enough to keep strikers out of range so they can't hit him with their attacks.
I actually think this is a decent idea when you're looking at it right. I'll see if I can't make a concept image just to see how it looks.

The amount of sand would be just long enough to keep strikers out of range so they can't hit him with their attacks. Yes, but this would still create a "hovering halo of sand" around the surface of the base that would make it pop back up if hit with a launcher. It might wobble a bit around the edge of the ring, but that ring would still allow the figure to pop back up after the minor perturbation of a projectile hitting it. It might be possible for such a figure to be tilted off the playing field by that ring, but the increased amount of plastic in the front of the figure would tend to stabilize it to an excessive degree. Then I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree. I think that the idea of a figure that is specifically designed to defeat an entire class of attacks isn't going to work, as it will also make the other class of attacks much more difficult.

In that case, why not have the sand go up? What if you had the sand curving upwards from the feet to around the chest area? It'd be designed to look like a wave of sand coming up from the figures feet to about waist height. The sand barrier might end up aiming a bit more difficult but it wouldn't be impossible and it would end the issue of making a near invincible figure.

yes the sand curving up would work well also but it would have to come up onyl a little bit for if it vomes upto much the strikers may be able to just hit the sand
