That would be an interesting move. I know at one point Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast, not sure if they still own them or not. The other strange part about that is that Wizards already has the Star Wars miniatures game. Wizards takeing over, or getting involved with, Attacktix doesnt make alot of sense to me. Hasbro still owns Wizards of the Coast. I think they would just promote it at shows, like they do Hasbro's heroscape products. It wouldn't be that unnatural at all actually.

Actually it does make a lot of sense. Not only will Attackitx be available in retail stores like Target, TRU, Walmart, etc. They will be available at your local comic/gaming shop too. With Wizards aboard tournaments will have an official sponsor and start taking place more frequently like Magic, SW Minis ones do.

From a business point of view it doesnt make sense to me for a company to be part of two similar products like Attacktix and SW minis. Can we expect any changes because of this? I've thought that Attacktix could benefit from maps like ones SW miniatures game uses.

I've thought that Attacktix could benefit from maps like ones SW miniatures game uses. They license is the same (Star Wars) but that's about it. The gameplay is SO different, as is the marketing for the two, that I don't expect any changes. I don't think it will hurt business at all. And attacktix is great because you don't need a map to play on - just any flat surface. Official maps would be cool though I have to admit.

I agree, Malform's battle mats are GREAT, but the Attacktix design team doesn't want there to be anything more involved that "bringing your figures" They won't do cards, or maps, or probably any more battle cases. As far as business goes... Minis are for hardcore gamers and are seen in hobby shops, and these are still geared to the action aisle - so that makes them two completely different products, with different venues and markets. (For now... let's see what happens when Marvel comes out)

I also think it's a great idea to go after comic/gaming stores. As a matter of fact, a couple of weeks ago I showed some of my Attacktix figures to a worker at a comic store who had never heard of Attacktix. (I did that before I had found a Starscream figure, because I told the worker that I wanted to make sure he didn't have Starscream for sale.) Comic store workers can't keep up with everything, especially when it isn't promoted to them. Furthermore, having stores stock the open figures might cause a chain reaction as some fans of table top gaming don't normally check the action figure isle.

Now I am totally confused. I have been to Hasbro's website and the newest thing they advertise is SW series 3. No mention of SW Series 4, Transformers series 1, or the upcomming Marvel set. So I then tried Wizards of the Coast website and found nothing Attacktix related there. Where do we go (besides this great site), to get information about products?

This is your best source for up to date information. If it's out there on the web, Joe will find it! Hasbro's website does have a few useful items, but overall it's not nearly as helpful as it could be. (Or should be?)

Under Battle Figures, it shows the entire catalog of packages that have been for sale, including discontinued items (like Jabba). I do agree that it's a bit depressing that Hasbro hasn't updated the figure gallery to reflect series 4 Star Wars or series 1 TFs. I don't have many series 3 figures, so the squad builder is almost useless for me.

It's been a theme of theirs. We were all shocked when they updated for SW Series 3 - maybe they only update it in preparation for / after releasing odd-numbered series?

I just hope that don't release marvel at the same time as TF series 2 and SW series 5. I just think that would be over kill and maybe why TF seems to be not doing as well as it could.

I disagree with you grizz. I have a Walmart in my town and one in the next town over, and live 15 minutes from 3 Targets and at some stores Star Wars are only left on shelves and the next town over Star Wars is gone and only Transformers on the shelves. It seems people will collect what they like, for some of us who like all 3 universes, its goin to be a matter of prioritizing.

Perhaps it takes their research crew some time to create the information behind the squad builder.
