A freind of mine tried to get me into heroclix, I just didnt like them, at all.. The rules were too complicated (I like simple easy to play games) and personally, I think the figures look like crap. Even with the disproportionate guns and things, I think attacktix figures look much better.

One time I went to Heroclix.com just to see what they were and everything, I looked at the figure gallery, or whatever it was called, and it had like 5 or 6 Anhiulis figures, I'm no Fantastic4 expert, but i don't think that Anhiulis is THAT popular.

Every standard figure has three versions, Rookie, Experienced and Veteran (right)
So the Rookie one will reflect powers from the early days, and the Veteran from later on... but then they go on and make MORE figures, like Ultimate Spider-Man, who I believe in comic book time is only about 3 years into his powers, so I hve no idea how they can even call him a Veteran crime fighter.
Again, one of the reasons all my sets have been shipped off to new homes.

Well I'm VERY excited about Marvel Attacktix. I've played heroclix, became disenchanted with them (like Joe). The only cool Marvel games I've played are: Spider-Man Monopoly and X-men Legends 1&2 for the Xbox. I do collect Spider-Man figures but they just sort of collect dust on the shelf, this will give me a chance to actually PLAY with my action figures.

Battle Dice have no plans to stop anytime soon. A DC set will be coming out, and the Playmate guys we talked to at MegaCon already have Series 2 Die Throwers (Marvel's Mr. Fantastic and DC's Green Lantern? or Superman?) and prototypes for Series 2 and DC. Taking them well into the last quarter of 2006. Unlike TV scheduling, this kind of thing will have no effect on the release of Marvel product. Attacktix are in a class of their own, as are Battle Dice (IMO). They will compete for shelf space... I'll stick with Attacktix. The Battle Dice launchers I've seen have been Hulk, Thing, Shazam! and Green Lantern...but anyway... I think maybe Battle Dice is closer competition for HeroClix...if for no other reason than scale. You know, when I used to play HeroClix, I always hoped they would be able to do Star Wars (though I knew the odds were against it), so I could play SW vs. Marvel, but hey, now it looks like those dreams will come true in Attacktix...and Transformers to boot...it's like I'm a kid all over again! (Who am I kidding...I've been a kid at heart all along!)

I prefer Attacxtix for a couple of reasons over Heroclix. #1: The self moving dial, I pretty much broke my Corsair (he's a common anyway) because I have to move his dial by hand, I could very well as write a couple of notepad cards of thier stastics then check the box like a dial, but it's just not the same and it slows down the game. #2: The technichal rules. They have to keep changing them because people find new ways to break them, flying comes to mind. #3: Powers are presented by colours on the dials, this would not be difficult if you could remember the powers off-hand, so at all times you'll need a rulebook or a list of the powers and thier abilities. #4: Maps, perhaps my greatest beef with heroclix, I can't just play it anywhere, I need to always have onhand a special map to make sure we don't overmove our characters. And #5: The size, heroclix I feel like i'm going to break it, (and I ended up proving myself right with Corsair. ) Attacktix are bigger, thereby more sturdy. Also it feels more like an action figure, thus the child in me is happy, and the adult authoritian need rules and crap in me is also appeased. About the only thing I miss from heroclix is dice, but I could easily houserule dice to make the game more rpg like. Though it wouldn't be d6, d6 already has it's own rpg line and is used in boardgames and gambeling, d6 is way overused, I'd use the underppreciated die that mathamaticaly go together, d4, d8, and d12. Another fun thing about AttackTix Marvel is by the time it comes out we can reinact The Civil War. ;D

Yay to that, Civil War looks to be a cool series...yes it's been done before with just the mutants, but I really feel they've been grooming everyone for this for a while, should be good. Plus, now I own the first AND final appearances of Speedball.

Plus, now I own the first AND final appearances of Speedball. I think I would have enjoyed a whole series of the Reality Show Speedball was involved in. I am a HUGE reality junkie (I even watched TWO episodes of Una1mous) so I would buy that (once the trade is half-off)

Plus, now I own the first AND final appearances of Speedball. Don't count your chickens yet 'webs'. There is one New Warriors survivor. I haven't picked any of these up so I could be wrong on who the survivor is.

Without a doubt, there is no way of knowing who, if anyone, survived. I'm just guessing that either way he was done. Didn't anyone read the preview story a few weeks ago?
Anyway, back on topic...I read somewhere a review that called Attacktix "law-suitingly similar" to HeroClix. Hunh? Disregard the fact that at the time of the review, 'Tix was a Star Wars only game, so at that point the properties were not overlapping.
But come on, the games are vastly different. First off, all combat is resolved via dice rolls and combat values in HeroClix. In Attacktix, combat is all about physical knock downs. Movement is obviously different, as is the randomization of the special power activation in 'tix versus the rotating rainbow of powers in 'clix. I mean, the most similar aspect is that in both games figures are mounted to plastic disks. That's about it.

Haha, that is funny. Hasbro loves to rush out and infringe on copyrighted material and patented games. Considering Attacktix is patented, and the patent is owned by Hasbro, that alone makes it a unique game. As far as Attacktix and Heroclix competing. Wizkids probably has limited rights to the marvel universe at their scale and NON-articulation. This makes sense when you look at how Marvel has a license (currently) with Toy Biz for action figures, Art Asylum for mini-articulated "brick" figures and Wizkids for miniatures. It's all semantics to us, but I am sure they are all very detailed in the their licensing agreements. Taking Art Asylum for example, when they made their large scale Galactus "mini-mate" it had to be a statue, NOT an articulate figure, because it probably went outside the contract. As long as Hasbro has the Marvel license, and Hasbro declared Attacktix as an articulated Battle Figure Game, there is nothing legally that would confuse them with Heroclix. And the great honorable Judge of Fun Toys, would laugh a suit out of court, should anyone ever claim the GAME is the same.
