Here is a thread to discuss ways of making the transformer attacktix line more competitive with the other 2 attacktix lines. My 2 biggest beefs are: 1. The FACT that the ability to transform has been very poorly translated into a special power. 2. There seems to be a major lack of imagination when it comes to making striker transformers. My solutions: 1. When super optimus prime (vehicle) is knocked over and is white, then super optimus prime (robot) should come into play. I know everyone agrees on that part.. BUT then the vehicle mode whould be placed in back-ups, NOT the defeated pile. This would then lead to the possibility (very low possibility due to SP ratios) of optimus being able to transform back and forth, as he should be able to do. I know Ive went on about this before, but its a HUGE deal to me... Transformers are transformers because they transform (duh! ), so they should do it right! 2. This is a no brainer, just make some more strikers. How about a new vector prime with the sword that I rarely see him without? Or an energy mace optimus, or megatron with a sword OR an energy axe, or a sword wielding ramjet, or even fortress maximus, or predaking with swords (even though they are outrageously larger in "real" scale)... I mean theres TONS of room for more transformer strikers... Heck, why not a punching grimlock? Anyway, please feel free to chime in if you have thoughts on how to make transformers more of the powerhouse that they should be.

I tottaly agree with you, i think that they should make more stikers! I mean, SW and Marvel have tons of strikers, and TF only has a couple?!? And for the transforming issue, i agree that since they are "transformers" they should have the chance to keep on transforming, and i think that there should be more TF with this capability. (Maybe it wouldn't be a special power, but an effect. Like if you get a white, you do what the special is, then you would transform. But if it was black, nothing happens)

Going forward, maybe make Transform a "sign on the back" special ability instead. At will, swap between versions, trading speed for firepower.

I figured I'd move this over to the TF Attacktix board. commandercody, you've got an interesting idea about what revamping Transform would entail. If I understand you correctly, you would:
1) Have a figure knocked over. That figure wold have some sort of effect panel. 2) If the special power window is white, execute the special power, put the defeated figure into the defeated area, then pull the appropriate figure from backups. 3) If black, put the defeated figure into the defeated area.
I might modify this just a bit: 1) Have a figure knocked over. 2) If the special power window is white, execute the special power, then put the defeated figure into the defeated area. 3) If the special power window is green, put the defeated figure into the defeated area, then pull the appropriate figure from backups. 4) If black, put the defeated figure into the defeated area.

Ah crud, I thought I did have it in the transformer attacktix thread... Must not have been paying close enough attention. Ok, so the current idea seems to be mixing specials and effects in some way. But I dont seem to be following how the events listed here would lead to the possibility of repeating transforms. Still seems like a renamed recruit. To fix it, the "defeated" figure needs to go to the same place that the "recruited" figure came from. I dont see how it could work if it was anything else.

Yep, thats what i was saying, since i agreed, i basically used what you had said and added my own little thing to it. So basically , if it keeps on coming up white, you could keep on transforming, (and use your SP)while the "robot" mode normally has a lower chance of being white, the "vehicle" has a above-average chance of being white. Hey, i like your modify yodabreaker!

Still seems like a renamed recruit. Yep - plus we still haven't touched on replacing the figure where it fell vs. placing it back at the starting line. I'd tend to agree; I figured I'd just riff off the other suggestion The only problem with this right now is that with the limited space in backups, you'll likely have space for only one robot mode (as the vehicle modes have a much higher probability of coming up white than the robots). Then again, this is a strategic consideration we all have to face, anyway - especially with Transform as a special power, instead of an effect. And you can always play larger games to have more Transform possibilities Hey, i like your modify yodabreaker! Heh - except that it didn't come out at all like I meant. I'd meant step 3 to involve a green special power window possibility. Basically, it'd be a way to have a secondary "power" on a figure, though this could change gameplay appreciably.

If you had that, then you would have to ask the questions: 1. If it was green, would that TF ONLY transform, or would it also use it's special? 2. What percentage of the colors would be green, and would it take away from the white? 3. If it doens't take away from the white, then would that character considered super rare, for it's low amount of black spots and it's abilities? (Also, would it's point value be higher?) 4. If you have a 30 pt (vehicle mode), and a 20pt in your back-up (anything else), and you get the "Green", what would you do if the character you would be outting in the back-ups is more than the alotted amount?

Yep - plus we still haven't touched on replacing the figure where it fell vs. placing it back at the starting line. Oh man, I forgot about that! Just another example of why the current state of transform as a special is just really messed up. Like they will transform and disappear, then reappear somewhere else.... Thats just so stupid it makes me want to write angry letters to hasbro, or something... The limitations of back-ups is something really everyone has to deal with from time to time. And if transform worked in the way I imagine, then you would have to just deal with it a little more often than some others. Really seems like a rather small trade off for the ability to swap figures back and forth. And besides, it wouldnt be fair at all if there were no limitations. Like if any figure with transform just got to swap with a free figure from nowhere. That would be like unlimited back-ups.

I'll take the other point Malform laid out and run with that - the point about there not being enough strikers in TF.
Specifically too, there are no 10-point strikers in TF1 or TF2, and I feel that this is the biggest disadvantage TFs face when squaring off against SW or Marvel.
There could be mini-bots (Braun, Cliff Jumper, etc.) that punch or swing their arm. There could be a Rumble that uses his piledrivers from the cartoon to "spring" into a figure or a Ramhorn in animal mode that swings his head up to "gorge" figures. I'd envision these all to be 10-pointers.
Right now most of the TF strikers are 30 pointers, and it's hard to build a competitive team which expensive strikers.

There could be mini-bots (Braun, Cliff Jumper, etc.) that punch or swing their arm. As long as they have more power than this guy!

Thats what Im talking about... There are some very simple ideas for strikers. Why hasnt hasbro thought up more? And crumplezone could have been more effective if they had given him a crazy disproportionately large (ala wookiee slap) arm or something.

an interesting discussion, with our house rules we've played like malform suggests for some while. My wife is quite a fan of Skyblast and often transforms back and forth to keep he team in the game much longer than she otherwise would. It would make them much more competitive. and as far as cassettes as 10 point strikers go I'm all for it.

This is the series that really got me into Attacktix. I have always been a fan of transformers and when Yaggleberry gave me a free TF starter, well needless to say I was hooked. So I began to buy many boosters of TF yet the were only like 5 everywhere I went so I also bought Marvel. I quickly realized that TF just can't compete (yet) with the other lines because of the reasons that have already been stated. This series needs a jumpstart, and lets just hope S2 is the begining of that.
