This is one of the few units you can know you’re going to get. It is one of the units included in the Transformers Starter Set. The starter set includes two versions of Skyblast, Overhaul, Dirtboss, and if you find the Wal-Mart bonus set (which I recommend doing), an off color Decepticlone. Dirtboss is one of the three shooters in the normal 4 figure set, and the only Decepticon. However his design is highly unique among Attacktix. For starters, his missile is a two pronged fork. The idea I suppose is that it will catch around figures and pull them over. Good concept really. Additionally, his launcher flips up and down from an upright “stored” potition to a forward facing “attack position”. There’s not much point to this function other than helping the figure keep it’s balance. In practice however the spring in this guy is too weak to be of practical use. My experience with spring strength in shooters hasn’t been good but this guy doesn’t even double as a prodder if needed. I suppose if house rules would let them you could use the fork to pick up a figure and shoot it straight up but pulling that off would be tricky at best.

Copied from the other thread: Scourge is one of the few Transformers Strikers. A Striker is a unit that attacks by hitting it’s opponent in a slashing motion. Star Wars is full of strikers with it’s Jedi ranks. Transformers has many more Shooters than Strikers. I’m actually pretty sure Scourge is the only true striker in the entire first wave of Transformers Attacktix. Battle Ravage has that mace thing but it has slightly different physics. There’s a few Flingers and a Prodder, but no other Strikers. And so I was kind of excited to get Scourge initially. I’ve been running Darth Vader in my line up as my lead killer. Vader is an awesomely powered Striker. I was hoping I could trade Vader out for Scourge allowing me to go “pure Transformers”. Sadley, Scourge’s strength is not good. The length and shape of his weapon makes him pretty poor at taking anyone out. It’s a real shame because Strikers certainly lead the pack as far as best attack. Unfortunately for Scourge, while he has a detailed and interesting sculpt, he also doesn’t get the benefit of being a character I like, so he’s pretty much delegated to spend eternity in my “extras box”.

Rather than start a new thread for each figure, let's just keep them in a single thread.

Crumplezone is also a pure striker, but has an even shorter striking surface than Scourge.

Merging thse into one thread is probably a good idea.
I've seen the set with Crumplezone a few times but havn't picked it up yet. I want it mostly for Omega Supreme however.

Ramen - great reviews, keep them coming! I don't particularly like Scourge for the same reason and I never play him in any of my games.
BTW, you have a really rockin' camera and steady aim, those pics are so clear!

I plan to do reviews of each of the figures I have. The plan for now is to do one a day except on weekends. No weekends mostly because I'm also posting them to my blog and I don't update on weekends. Also yeah, the camera is really nice. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly recent model. It's a KodakZ710. I wanted ot get a dSLR camera but recieved this one as a gift from my parents for Christmas. IT's been more than satisfactory and takes really nice photos. You can see more pictures from thsi camera here: www.flickr.com/photos/lameazoid/sets/72157594472074149/The resolution is nice on full sized images as well. Example: www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=382072393&size=oBTW, I hope no one is getting full sized images instead of resized ones. When I post them they look reasonable size.

Just a quick note, the Gold base figure pictured here is from the “Galactic Showdown” Starter set. This set features three Star Wars Attacktix figures and three Transformers Attacktix figures. I picked mine up on clearance for less than the cost of a booster pack, the set is great at that price. The original MSRP I beleive is $30 dollars which is a bit steep for what you get. However, the point is, this figure is nearly identical to the Booster pack version except it has a different special ability. Optimus Prime, without a doubt, is the most difficult to defeat figures in the Transformers line up. Probably in all of the Attacktix line up. He is huge, bulky, and heavy. He’s also fairly squared off with a low center of gravity. His huge missile just helps this even more. However if you can get up behind him he actually falls fairly easily every time. He also features a pretty unique missile. It’s quite a bit larger than other missiles, which helps take out oppenents fairly eaily. However it’s kind of heavy so it doesn’t go particularly far. Still, his defense alone makes him wholey worthwhile to keep in your army. The black base one has the special power of Transformation that can help extend his life a bit beyond death as well.

I prefer to put goldbase Prime in my BackUps and have vehicle mode in my active force. Robot Prime's Transform power isn't as useful as the power the gold version has.
