Excellion and Hot Shot deserve more consideration than they get, because like Super Optimus Prime, they are among the most bullet resistant figures in the game.
Excellion only has a medium base, but that is a incredibly difficult sculpt to get a decent hit on, particularly with the missle loaded and point as far down as you can manage. Excellion is without a doubt the sturdiest mid-size based figure in the entire game, and I would go as far as to say that Excellion is probably sturdier than most figures with the large base. The Energy Blast he has is a powerful attack, Sacrifice: Trooper is a good power at 54%, and while 40pts is fairly steep in a competitive game, Excellion with his better attack and energy absorbing sculpt could be arguably considered better than any of the force blasters. He's not faction specific either, and can be used with any Troopers in the game.
This transfers to Hot Shot as well. Hot Shot only has a small base and is still a 40pt figure. He's still definitely the most bullet resistant figure in the game with a small base, and likely more durable than a lot of medium based figures. The attack is also still great. The knock on Hot Shot is that he's not as sturdy as Excellion, and that Rally: Autobot at 38% I would argue is less useful than Sacrifice: Trooper at 54%.
Then we get to Overhaul, of whom I made notpicard a believer of at the Attacktix tournament. Overhaul's use is a little more narrow since he needs expendible Autobots for his power, but he's only 30pts, which is a bargain for his shot power. His sacrifice is just as frequent as Excellions at 10pts less, and feeds off of the same Omnicons and Minicons just fine. He's not as durable as Excellion, but that doesn't really give you the whole story, as Overhaul is far sturdier than he looks. In a tournament game against notpicard, it took three shots for him to kill my Overhaul, at a fairly close range of half the table. The first two just glanced off, of which having played Overhaul in a lot of games I must say is a common sight. He's short, he's heavy, and he's very well balanced. All those combine to deflect a lot of shots that are good enough to kill other figures. The Transformers Energy Blast has enough range, accuracy and power to kill consistantly on turn one at enemies on the starting line, and can kill large based figures easily across the table. In a game at Botcon's game night, I was able to get a turn one kill against Landmine with Overhaul. With his decently useful Sacrifice, killer bullet and sturdy sculpt, he's an absolute bargain at 30pts.
