My and my group of friends play Attacktix with my figures, since I'm the only one who has any(that will be changing within the week). They often accuse me of practicing with the figures at home. I don't really do that, but I decided to do just what they were accusing me of.
It took me about 10-15 minutes to figure out how to knock things over with Battle Ravage. I have three of them, and while initially the figure seemed to completely suck, I learned to have the right arm holding the mace in its lowest position, the left arm held above BR's head and used as a handle, position the figure a small distance away from the target figure and get a good position for a solid hit, and finally to release the figure in such a way to not lose velocity from the strike.
I can now kill Super Optimus Prime almost 10 times out of 10.
So I bring my newfound skill to the game a few nights ago. We've been playing almost exclusively with Transformers, and haven't really been using strikers at all. Maybe the odd Landmine or Skyblast(robot), but never striker based teams.
I start out with a 150 pt game with my team as follows:
1x Landmine(30pts)
3x Battle Ravage(3x20pts=60pts)
1x Han Solo series IV starter(20pts)
1x Chewbacca series IV starter(20pts)
2x Mini-Con(2x10pts=20pts)
Nice little team with 4 strikers as the core of my offense, with two shooters with medium missles for support. This team wins both of its matches easily, the first match only having lost Landmine and a single Battle Ravage(though BR's Rally came up at least once, and Han Solo must have been shot down 2 or 3 times only to stand right back up), and the second match with 1 Battle Ravage, Chewbacca, and one Mini-Con on the table. The second to last turn I kill Super Optimus Prime and Starscream in a four figure formation with one Battle Ravage swing, and the final turn, kill both remaining Decepticlones with my remaining Battle Ravage.
We then play two on two and I change my team slightly, substituting Endor Luke for Landmine and Endor Scouts for Mini-Cons, since they needed the Transformers more than I did. The most fun with this game was that my Ravage's rally power just seemed never to come up black.
I see the true power of striker teams now. I am a believer. I also need more Star Wars figures as Transformers strikers suck aside from Battle Ravage.
