Here's a summary of my first games with attacktix:
One thing we didn't do was to stack bases together. This is our first time playing Attacktix, and both me and my friend who I was playing against really don't like the thought of that.
First battles:
Excellion x1
Rodimus x1
Skyblast(jet) x1
Mini-Con x1
Omnicon x1
Bench--Skyblast(robot) x1, Mini-Con x1
--vs--
Megatron(gold base) x1
Dirt Boss x1
Decepticlone x3
Bench--Megatron(robot, black base x1
Tim thought Optimus Prime sounded cheesy from what I had told him about it, so we started without it. The Decepticons(played by me) won both of these battles, both times with one figure left.
Second matchup(with Super Optimus Primes)
Super Optimus Prime(Gold Base) x1
Dirt Boss x1
Skyblast(jet) x1
Mini-Con x1
Bench--Skyblast(robot) x1, Battle Ravage x1
--vs--
Super Optimus Prime(Truck) x1
Overhaul x1
Rodimus x1
Mini--con x2
Bench--Super Optimus Prime(robot, black base) x1, Omicon x1
These battles proved how much of a house Optimus is. We split these matches, but the second team did win more often.
Then we threw in the Omegas for fun:
Omega Sentinel x1
Megatron(gold base) x1
Optimus Prime(gold base) x1
Skyblast(jet) x1
Decepticlone x1
Bench--Skyblast(robot) x1
--vs--
Omega Supreme x1
Optimus Prime(truck) x1
Overhaul x1
Rodimus x1
Mini-Con x2
Bench--Optimus Prime(robot, black base) x1, Omnicon x1
After one game where Omega Supreme managed to destroy Omega Sentinel, Skyblast and the Decepticlone with one swipe, Tim didn't want to play with the Omegas anymore.
Figure notes:
1. I do not have Landmine, Scorponok, Insecticons, Starscream, Scourge, or Megatrons vehicle mode or I would have tried them.
2. Out of 13 booster packs, I got five freaking Excellions
3. Super Optimus Prime the robot is a tank. I fired a shot from Rodimus at point blank range, hit the upper torso, and the figure didn't even move. That being said, there were some small missle kills from the side and back, and Overhaul and Megatron did manage to kill Optimus Prime with force blasts with a good shot fairly frequently. As for his attack, it doesn't have any range, but d**n if it doesn't kill almost everything.
4. The Transformation powers really work. Using the vehicles for Optimus and Skyblast nearly always brought out the robots, and the power seemed among the most useful of any we were using.
5. Optimus Prime's Truck--We had a house rule in effect that you could lift part of the base off the table to aim the gun lower. At long range this wasn't necessary. Got some kills with this figure.
6. Skyblast(robot mode)--Once in range, his prodder spear was an automatic kill. When the jet transformed into the robot, Skyblast was the figure I focused all my energy on destroying. Tim tried to prod Omega Supreme with Skyblast, trying for a K.O. and not for a knee. Seemed a good idea to start with the jet, since this figure isn't very fast and the transformation allows Skyblast to start play closer to the action, without having to worry about everything else trying to kill it.
7. Megatron, Excellion, and Overhaul--I hear people hating the force blasts, but we were doing great with these. I wasn't noticing that big of a difference between the kill ranges of these and the small missles. A well aimed shot could kill something(including House Optimus) from a fairly decent range, I even had a bullseye with Overhaul on Skyblast(jet) from about 2 1/2 feet. Megatron's big base made him suprisingly durable.
8. Rodimus's power is pretty good. Wish I had more than one.
9. Dirt Boss--His missle is strong but we find him somewhat harder to aim than most figures. My Dirt Boss also had a hair trigger which made it a bit more difficult. the missle seems to rise when fired, which makes you have to aim low, and its really hard to get right. I don't think we got a single kill with it, though it may just take some practice. I like his power though.
10. 10 pt troopers. Got in some good shots at close range, and some lucky hits at long range, mostly against other small based figures.
11. Battle Ravage--tricky to use, all I'm going to say.
12. Omega Supreme--The three figure kill turn was a highlight. I managed to get it to the enemy lines unscathed and then it just ripped things. Threw Omega Sentinel about 4 feet, completely off the tabler. This figure just isn't fair. On a side note, mine seems impossible to knock over. Shoot out both knees and he just leans back, and does not tip over. His throwing arm even falls to the ground and makes an incredibly strong tripod. We had to implement a house rule stating that both knees being shot was a kill, since he doesn't fall over, ever.
13. Omega Sentinel--The four shots is nice, but he's a bit trickier to aim than most figures. In a test game by myself, I managed to shoot out both knees of Omega Supreme in one turn with his four shots. Unlike Supreme, shoot his knees out and he falls, since his gun arm really unbalances him.
14. Figures I didn't use:
Vector Prime--sux, don't have any insecticons
Hot Shot--Don't like the small base
Ransack--Haven't determined what you're supposed to do with this figure.
Crumplezone--My spring for this is REALLY strong, though it has no range. Hard to hit things, but has never failed to kill what it hits.
