I thought I would start this thread to discuss the new Transformers figures. Who is the best figure? Sculpt? Who is your least favorite?
Having these in hand I have to say Optimus Prime is a beast but his vehicle form shoots a bit too hight for battle....that was a disappointment for me. I do really like the planes though!

Boo. Yah.
Optimus is a HOUSE. The metallic paints on some figs rock the hasba. The scaling of figs is more dramatic and works well. The Omega Sentinel is a huge frickin' monster and has a cool defeat pose. My only complaint is the Optimus truck as well...I think I would rather see a mega version of some kind...

I have one impression of the TF attacktix line: letdown.
Let me start by saying that the IG BattlePack set the bar high. Omega Sentinel is INCREDIBLE. Super Optimus Prime is Fantastic.
Its no suprise that I bought the first Omega Supreme. Boy was I dissapointed. Crumplezone, first of all, has a very loose striker arm, and has a tendency to pivot backwards while positioning for a strike.
Even worse, however, is the Omega Supreme. The sculpt looks very good and the knee joints work perfectly. Its his attack. His attack is pitiful. No springs, no locks, no buttons. Just one moving part-- his arm. Although I have not used it in a game, I see only 2 ways to use his attack. 1-Pull his arm back and release, or 2-Pull his arm back and push it forward.
I am sorry if this review disheartens some of you, its just my opinion. Maybe it is this "simple" mechanic that this game needs. But as far as I am concerned, it is a cop out on the part of the designers.
Am I giving up on TF Attacktix?
No freakin way. There is way too much potential to let it go.

1-Pull his arm back and release, or 2-Pull his arm back and push it forward. I'm guessing he didn't come with any special directions. Perhaps he's like Scorponok - it looks like his power is derived solely from how hard you push with his arm. If that's the case, the Omega Supreme could be a powerhouse striker. I'm sure I could create some serious power with him... it'd almost be like swiping them with your own hand ;D

Scorponok is a BEAST because basically you can swipe down any figure with your own force. He's the transformer I am beginning to hate the most. A small bullet to the head in most games will bring him down but you have to be a good shot - otherwise his large base makes him SO hard to bring down. I haven't gotten my hands on an Omega Supreme but if he works the same way I think he'll be awesome. The mechanics of that attack aren't necessarily as fair I think but that doesn't mean I won't use him to bring down mass clumps of figures in a game.

I finally got the TF Starter today! The Skyblast Jabber is AWESOME! There is a lot of power in his spring, and the thin blade can really position itself nicely into nooks and crannies for damage.
The Dirtboss Forked-missile is pretrt neat, too. You can "clothesline" your opponent. Not sure if it is any better that the Large Missile, but it is different, and I like different!
The jet Skyblast and Overhaul are pretty standard launchers, but this set is a MUST-HAVE for the unique weapons.
Now, onto the Mega.
Crumplezone is a bum for 30 points. I was waiting for this guy.. the 3rd TF striker, and he is kinda lame. Scourge has an axe, with some nice reach and Battle Ravage is REALLY cool with a tethered mace. This guy was a let down, he hardly has any reach, and his shoulder is very soft and pliable, so if you try to pull him back by the green fin, it will NOT lead to a successful attack. You gotta use his fist, for a good attack, but even his best attack is not as good as a short lightsaber or a Wookie Paw. I hope he gets re-released with some harder plastic... but...
The Omega Supreme is awesome. The rules state that you MANUALLY manipulate the arm. So you can slowly rise it up and topple your opponent, OR you can pull it back and push it down to add some force to a swinging arm. Both ways are acceptable according to the rule book.. which makes me think this is how Scorponok will work, too.
Which also brings me to the issue of Ransack... he was labeled as a Twist and Throw... but the TF instruction booklets makes it seem like you can ADJUST the position of the Jabber before you jab, but thats it.
I think you just get in close, and you can turn it up and down to apply force to an entire side of a figure, OR you can turn it horizontally to try to wrap it around a neck or limb.
I will add this to my list of questions popping up for the new series.

Crumplezone is a bum for 30 points.
Couldn't agree more. He just doesn't have the range or size to be effective.
The Omega Supreme is awesome.
Oh, yeah! This is what megas are all about! He is a Moose! Everyone complains that megas are not worth the points. Now the Transformers Megas come along and re-write the whole mega book.
Everyone needs to take another look at these Transformers. They are IMO not necessarily better than Star Wars, but at least equal.

BTW. Mini-cons are just about the cutest little things I have ever seen. They make Ewoks look like a pile of puke.
I know that was harsh, I am just stating the simple truth. I just want to hold em' and squeeze em' and name em' George!

This week I did a write up on Transformers attacktix - including my favorite figure and overall opinions. sapph.com/toyblog/I would cut/paste it all here but it's alittle long and I dont want to force anyone to read it!

Yes, nice review. I agree with your perspective on most of the figures except the Sentinel Mega. I believe he is awesome! I agree that he is weak in the knees and needs a little getting used to, but he is a powerhouse when used properly. I do however agree that Crumplezone should had been designed a little bit better.
All in all I have to say that I believe that Transformers are really rubbing off on me. I could actually see myself buying these boosters over the Star Wars at the rate of my affection for them.

I think it makes sense that ransack and crumplezone are both lame figures because they are both the weakest characters in the show. I think they were designed badly on purpose to reflect that.

I can buy that then! Weak like a trooper or padme.... DOES make sense... but it is sad they wasted a striker on a weak guy.
