Anyone excited for the New Indiana Jones Movie? Good number of parts of it being shot here in New Mexico. At first, I had my doubts - Ford must be in his mid sixties and Shia Lebeauf appears to be his sidekick. They showed still shots on the news night before last and I gotta admit, they look real good! Ford used to be one of my favorite actors until he pulled that midlife crisis nonsense and left his wife and kids for Callista Flockhart. Here's hoping it has that old Lucas/Spielberg magic!

I would be interested in seeing this. I loved all of the other Jones movies. I just hope this isn't a "We'll, I really can't get any other role, and Stallone is doing Rocky and Rambo, so why can't I do Indiana Jones?" type of movie.
Nothing beats the first one though. That one was great.

The first 2 were all I had seen up until a month or so ago. Then I saw The Last Crusade. ...whoa. At first, I was thrown off by the more-than-normal amount of comedy, but by the time the movie was over, I was in love. That one is without a doubt my favorite of the first 3 films. And I'm looking forward to the new one.

Very little is known about the film. They are keeping everything under wraps. However, the title has been confirmed to be called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Yeah, it's being called that. Out of a few other choices they had come up with including "Indiana Jones and the Four Corners of the Earth" and "Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Convenant", they picked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Come on. I'll bet Lucas chose the title. Also, the film was originally supposed to be a 2005 release based on a script that Speilburg said was "the best screenplay since Raiders". But then Lucas rejected it for reasons unknown. Way to go, George. But on a less negative note, I am still pretty stoked for the film, coming out May 22nd of next year. The website can be found here for updates and videos and such. Harrison Ford is back playing the Adventuring Archaeologist we all know and love, with Shia Lebouf playing, from what I have heard, the comic relief for the film, and Karen Allen back as Marion Ravenwood. Anyways, as if I needed another reason 2008 was going to be sweet, they schedule this film to be out next year. And I am okay with that.

How can ya not lurve Indy? I'm sure it'll be a fun movie. But I have to say, I'm more excited about the Indy Lego sets and the Lego Indy game.
edit* Not thrilled about Shia as his sidekick. I could take him in Transformers because my TF Fandom-ness can override my 'good taste' circuitry. My Indy fandomness centers aren't that strong.

Know what you mean. Labeauf was ok in Holes, but somewhat irritated me in Transformers and was it War of the Worlds? But, heck, hardly anyone seems to act anymore!

I loved Raiders went it first came out - just an awesome flic. Anyone notice that the guy who tries to screw over Indy at the beginning "Throw me the idol, I throw you the whip" was Doc Occ?
I sure hope it has the same magic but the sidekick and Lucas/Speilburg's reliance on special effects has me worried. I'll definitely see it though.

Ok, here's some more info:
An extra stole some info, and gave it up to a reporter.
1. Shia is Marion and Indy's SON. 2. This is Indy vs. the Soviets this time. 3. Setting is 1957, much later than usual. 4. Marion makes a return appearance and has a pivotal role. 5. Indy gets tortured. 6. No Daddy Jones (Sean Connery) as he didn't want to leave retirement.
That's all for now!

Yeah, acting in most modern flicks is terrible. I think people take the roles themselves so seriously that they forget that they're supposed to be in character. They go, "wow, I, [actor name] am [character name]", when they're supposed to be going, "yikes, I, [character name] am in [situation name]." Some stuff left in movies I just can't believe the directors didn't re-shoot... Amazing!

Thanks for the info, SuperFly. Please, please let it be real good!
No Sly Stallone/ Rocky debacle type thing.
Heck, I hear even Mel Gibson is coming back to make another Road Warrior movie?!?

Apparently this is the best ever. Ford is quoted saying that he would've never come back if it wasn't for this plot, and remember that the contract was for 5 movies...Lucas shelved every script since Crusade because it couldn't live up to this. I expect that the 5th movie will be a Shia LeBouef (French Muslim of the Beef?) movie where he's the star...but I really can't see that happening.

I don't think that Shia Lebeauf is a bad actor. He was good in Disturbia. He just has that goofy way about him. (that's his shtiq) He is funny and that will help in the Indy movie. Those movies always have a lot of "oh crap we are scared and have funny looks on our face" as they go down a waterfall etc.

I'm not implying in any way that Shia is a bad actor, in fact I've liked him in every movie I've seen him in - I Robot, Disturbia, TF, and others. My point is that he doesn't have, in my opinion, the 'Leading Man' star quality that Harrison Ford has. I don't really know who could fill the role of the greatest adventurer of all time (arguably) but I can say that Shia ain't it. His weak action-scene performaces in I Robot and Disturbia prove that in my mind, to be sure.
I guess it's all academic now, though, as he's been cast and is IN the 4th movie, so if there is a 5th, he'll probably reprise his role.
