I've just learned from www.fbtb.net that actor Phil Brown, who played Luke's Uncle Owen in Star Wars: A New Hope, died yesterday. Such a sad moment...it really hits a nerve when somebody like this, who portrays such an amazing and influential character, dies. 'Tis truly sad. Well, just thought I'd let everyone know. Not to be rude or disrespectful...but on a lighter note, I was just curious how many people here visit the Star Wars-related websites www.galactichunter.com and the above-mentioned www.fbtb.net ? Today I told my friends at school about it. I thought they would be depressed or sad or something, but all they said was "Who is Uncle Owen?".

Uncle Owen was 85. At least he died a peaceful death, with his wife there for him. God rest his soul.
And man, do I miss Alec Guiness. He was a great actor, and a great man. Rest in peace, Alec.

That kind of stinks for Old Ben because he didn't get to see how his character got there.

I don't know, i dont think Ben kenobi would want to see ep.1.
That's sad that phil brown died, he was a big part in the star wars saga.

I don't know, i dont think Ben kenobi would want to see ep.1. Hee. Yeah, Alec Guinness was rather cantankerous about the whole Star Wars thing. I read his first autobiography, and he devoted maybe a paragraph to Star Wars in the whole thing as having essentially guaranteed his financial security for his golden years. The rest was a fascinating read; he was a good writer. I dunno...I always thought it was good that his character had the relatively brief appearance he did in EpIV. However, I still think the skeletal remains of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru was the most gruesome scene of the whole trilogy and helped emphasize just how brutal the Empire was.
