The shadow before him taunted his with his life, laughing and crying at the same time. He lunged for an attack, his dark blade crashed down with the force of a boulder falling from the sky. His blade, held by his small and young arms, attempted to perform a high block with his blade, then spin his blade, taking the shadows hands away, but his arms, simply fell from their perch above his head, and the dark blade came down with such force, his blade fell to the ground.
He was beaten, as good as dead, his blade laid, still activated, on the floor, burning it. He could only stand there, waiting for the finishing blow, the blow that didn’t come, the dark figure jumped back a good 20 feet, and laughed again, a sadistic battle cry, one that said he had won, but for what.
Suddenly light flooded the dark room they were in, and the shadow was gone, and he was awake. His senses suddenly flooding back into him like a wave of awareness, his bed, his window overlooking the academy he was in, the door. He was sweating, and panting, his masters had told him of these premonitions, they could be dangerous, knowing the future may make someone want to act to change it, thus creating that what they sought to prevent.
He began to wonder, how you could really see the future, if it is only something that may happen, or may not. You might as well guess and hope for the best. Quickly he abandoned that thought, he shouldn’t question the masters wisdom, and he should respect their teachings.
He jumped out of his bed, and onto the cold stone ground, he walked towards his dresser, where he grabbed his traditional robes, by achieving his rank as padawan, and having a master select him for teaching, he was able to create his robes he would wear for the rest of his life in the order. They were dark brown and bright white, the robe was dark brown and the shirt was white, this was much like the robes the others had designed, save for one thing, the selves of the undershirt continued down to his hands, covering all of his fingers tightly, and were laced with cortosis, a lightsaber repellant that any force user would love to obtain upon his promotion to padawan, mainly because it signified great potential in the order, one that may achieve true greatness, and one day lead their order.
Once dressed he hopped out of his room, and walked towards the mess, where most of the students ate and socialized. He walked down the corridor that lead to the mess, sharp turns and twists were abundant in this academy, its original designers did this to gain an advantage in an assault, this now Joruk Temple was once an ancient fortress built by a race long gone, one that is to have invented hyperspace, but that was no more then an old story told by the locals in the small outpost outside of the temple.
Krev had been in the academy his entire life, his father was a transporter for hire and stopped on the planet to look for a job, the Joruk masters found Krev, and realized his potential. Krev’s father didn’t want Krev to have the life he did, so he lets the Joruk take him, to be trained by them to manipulate the force. Krev hadn’t seen his father since that day, he was only 1 standard year old.
The Joruk were exiles of the Jedi order, they were banished along with the Dark Jedi during the Second Great Schism, where all of the force users who bent the force to kill and manipulate life were exiled. The Jedi who formed the Joruk were the Jedi who didn’t follow the Dark Jedi, and their ways. They were called “Gray Jedi” by the order, and were exiled by the very orthodox council of that time. After this, the Gray Jedi continued to act as Jedi, doing what Jedi were supposed to do, but doing it without restriction of the Jedi code, so after a long time of acting by their selves, the Gray Jedi decided to create the Joruk Order. The word Joruk is an ancient word, who’s creators names were lost over the years, that meant many things, Love, Power, Rebel, Leader, and Protector. It described what the Joruk wanted to be well. Lastly they created their own Joruk Code, much like the older Jedi Code.
All is the force and the force is all
Through the force life begins and ends
When light and dark collide they merge into emotion, life, and death
The force is light
The force is dark
The force is all
This is what the Joruk taught to their students, and what Krev learns in the academy. This is where the story begins…
Chapter 1
All is the force and the force is all
Part 1 Beginnings
Krev stood on top of a hill, deep in the jungles of Er’ish 4, a small habitable moon orbiting the gas giant Er’ish. It was a temperate place, full of exotic life, one being the Kork bear, it was an enormous creature, 6ft long, and 4ft off the ground, it had a small head and jet black fur, save for a white line that ran from its 3 eyes to its long tail. Kork bears were dangerous if encountered, they were very territorial and willing to kill for their youth’s well being.
“The Kork bear is a creature of the force, as all life is. It hunts its prey out of necessity; it kills for its youth, is killing of the dark side if it is out of necessity, or is it just nature. Tell me what you think Krev” Said master Oveous, he was a human, at least 2 meters tall if not taller, and covered in huge muscles he kept hidden under his black Joruk Robe, it was long and had a white under shirt. He was Krev’s master.
“If the Kork bear were to kill something for food, and eat what it needed then no it wouldn’t be of the dark side, if it were to kill more then it needed then it would be, but aren’t we taught not to fear the dark side like the Jedi do.” Krev said as he turned to master Oveous
“Right, you are not to fear the dark side, but use it if necessary to a good end, and example being if 3 Gamorrean guards were guarding an innocent person, in captivity of a crime lord and was going to be sold to slavery, you could kill the guards and save the innocent person, a Jedi would ether subdue the guards, or persuade them to let the innocent person go, a Joruk could do that, or kill the guards, while a Dark Jedi might either kill the guards and the innocent person or just overlook the situation entirely and walk away” Said Master Oveous as he turned back to the Kork Bear.
