Me and my friend are making a Star Wars fan film soon and I have a few questions.
1. Does anyone know of any sites that provide tips/tutorials/tricks etc. on how to make a Fan Film?
2.Anybody got any suggestions in what to include?
3.Should we get into character and dress up?
4.Anyone know any good tutorias on how to rotoscope my lightsaber or an easier way than rotoscoping?
Our fanfilm is just a duel between me and my friend. Im the sith and he's the jedi. We both use one bladed lightsabers and I do force 'acrobatics'.

Here's a fairly comprehensive list of fan film tutorials (courtesy of TheForce.net). Based on what you've said so far, you may just want to think about the different combat styles your characters will use and what they reveal about the minds and values of your characters. Absolutely! See my answer to #1 Sounds like it could be interesting to see as "a first step into a larger world" of fan filming for you!

OK, I've been thinking about this for about a year now. I really don't think that rotoscoping is the best way to film a lightsaber fight. I have come to the conclusion that all saber fights should be filmed at night with Master Replicas. It should be a lot faster than animating each frame of a lightsaber and you get cool lighting effects on your characters and surroundings.
Then again, I don't have a photoshop program, so I don't REALLY know what I am talking about.
For your level of filming (not getting paid level that is), I would also recommend that you find a pair of boots, some earth tone color pants, earth tone color shirt, then all you need to make is a tunic and a robe. So that's one trip to your local fabric store....and you can pick up weird looking belts at your local thrift store.
And you can pick up some Master Replicas on eBay for pretty cheap, and if you need help with that, I know a great seller on eBay. (search for: master replicas bundle)
Best of luck, hope to see it sooner than I finish mine (hopefully in a year or so).

Try stop-motion if you have some good figures. That works well. Maybe for some $$$ I'll animate one =P
