Yeah, I can see where you are coming from, but if Yoda did start killing people we remember, we would probably not like him so much, but as it stands, I can only remember him offing a few clones and a bunch of droids, so he seems like a mostly peaceful guy to me.
Also, I'm not sure Yoda is intended to be a warrior in the story, but instead more of a mentor and spiritual guide through the force.

Yoda was fighting long befor, as he grew older into ep. 1, he knew he couldnt keep doing what he once did.

I see your perspective on Yoda. I don't think that Yoda necessarily needs to be defended, but, if I were wanting to defend Yoda, I'd add this ...
Yoda does win battles---clones on Kashyyyk, clones in temple---he simply doesn't win duels.
Yoda's power is in his capacity to train others and to impart wisdom. So it might be said that his victory is in and through those that he trains---Luke's victory by throwing his weapon aside is also Yoda's victory, for example.
Furthermore, in his duel with Dooku, it is Yoda's compassion that compels him to forego victory. So, if compassion is a higher goal than victory, did he truly lose?
It is only in his duel with Sidious that Yoda accepts defeat. And, this, by his own inner admission---see Matthew Stover's novelization---was partly his own fault, because the Sith had reinvented themselves and the Jedi had not.

I don't think to be a good jedi you need to win lots of duels. I feel he is one of the best jedis purely because of his power in the force.

Is it just me, or did they make Palpatine look too weak in EP3?

Not from my perspective ... I mean, he beats the most powerful Jedi in the universe to a draw, and he does so---it seems---with minimal effort.

He just looked weak because he knew Anakin would come to his rescue. With Mace looking like he was mudering Palpatine, Anakin remembered his friend and helped him that way he would help him with Padme'.
