Hey Dex, I think I saw an article on Boston.com or someplace online. I emailed City Year (which I believe was the charity) and was put on their email list. I would get a form email about every week with the info and ticket prices. Then a few days before the screening an email arrived with the discounted prices.
Wow, hearing about that gift bag I'm definitely sorry I didn't go. You don't know how lucky you are. People who attended the screening in LA got this for a gift bag...
1. A bag from reebok to hold the gifts 2. A light up lightsaber sthingy that is found in Kellogs Cereal boxes 3. A Burger King Star Wars kid’s toy 4. A single package of Star Wars fruit snacks 5. A small bag of Starbucks Coffee 6. A small tin of Starbucks mints 7. A coupon for a free whopper at Burger King 8. A discount card for 20% off at Kenneth Cole 9. A cd from an undiscovered singer 10. A bottle of marinara Sauce 11. A lipstick 12. A box of tea
Sucks to be them...

For AOTC the gift bags were much less too. That's a shame about the tickets though. For AOTC, they started at $500 and went down to $250. They mailed me telling me I could bring another person. I think I could have found another 2 people to come with us But I guess they did ok, the theatres were full. Something that really bugged me though was that I heard some people talking about how they were there b/c they got free/dicounted tickets from their work. Not that I believe in "levels" of being a fan, but I know there were other people that would have appreciated being there more.

Oddly enough, I'll probably end up going to a midnight showing...or thereabouts...tomorrow. A guy a year behind me in my grad program is getting married, so the attendants will be going to Star Wars at 11:59p tomorrow in full formal wear (i.e., tuxes, top hats, and canes). As I bought my tux for my wedding, I'm gonna join 'em in my tux, the tam I wore for my graduation, and a lightsaber (probably Obi-Wan's, depending on which one I buy tomorrow). I'm also gonna be bringing the digicam...those pictures will be priceless:)

I'd go dressed as a Hobbit.

Ah, but which one? Are you more of a Frodo freak, or a Sam fan? Or perhaps you'd be more Merry if you went as Pippen. Of course, you could decide to Baggins yourself up as Bilbo

The crusty old lady who always gives the killer disapproving looks to newcomers and hobbits coming home. I'd make the ticket-seller cry, I would!

Well, 5 years post-wedding, my tux still fit nicely! My friends made it with about 5 minutes to spare. I was waiting for about 25 minutes in the lobby, and in that time, about 4 different groups of people asked me questions about the theater, to which I had to respond "I don't work here, but..." But it was worth it; that opening sequence alone was an incredible space battle odyssey. Here's a picture that was taken after we got out of it (I'm the one in the middle). Next time, I'm hoping to go dressed up in my doctoral robe and hood:)
