Wow this was an amazing trip and experience. Tixcon was a complete success IMO and I hope it turns into an annual event. I want to thank both Webhead and Joe (and wives for putting up with them) for all their time and effort they put into this. I just hope you guys enjoyed it as much as the four Missouri boys did. I have yet to thank the most important person/robot yet, Super Optimus Prime. If it wasn't for this giant bucket of bolts I definitely wouldn't of made as far as I did. There was quite a bit of drama in my final round match of the TF universe, but it all worked out fairly in the end. As for the three way battle, it was really difficult, that SW team was stacked. Yodabreaker thanks for being a great sport, and letting your new Vader surrender to Big Base Mase and I. I do have to mention that for the 3 way it was only fitting that I pulled a SOP from my booster for that battle. Well as no one would of guessed the TF won it all and took home the 1st place trophy in the 100 point choose your universe tournament. Webhead thanks for the Gold Prime it couldn't of been a more fitting trophy. ;D I can't tell you in a post the amount of fun we Missouri boys had but, we look forward to coming back next year to represent our great state next year. I imagine we will be the ones people are gunning for next year. Thanks again and it was great to meet all you guys. Cona Chris I got your number man, and Radar I am glad I could avenge you in the 200 point. Sorry Grievous. P.S. Both Mace and I will be posting all the info/stats on the Marvel 2 and TF 2 starter sets we won soon.

That 200-point semi-final was SO close that I could almost taste victory. If I remember correctly, your gold SOP went down white at one point and I think if it had gone down black I might have been able to pull out the win. I also stress that MIGHT since you had some deadly skills going on.
Also, putting SOP in with Jedi and then using them as thirty point missiles before transforming to become giant shields for your Jedi is an awesome tactic. That, and your skill with lobbing those Prime missiles were amazing. You definitely deserved to win that match and go on to the final. It was definitely one of my favorite games that I played, right up there with taking on Radar with the ending of two figures both with ten speed where it all came down to who misjudged the distance first. Now THAT was nail-biting, especially since I only won due to virtual re-do because of Beast's power.
I figure since no one else has posted this yet, congratulations to the Missouri crew for coming darned close to completely sweeping TixCon. I believe that only Yodabreaker in the SW 100-point round was the non-Missouri tournament winner. I'd assume that with those results it was worth the drive...

My final thoughts on tixcon is wow. I would first like to thank webhead and wife for running such a great event. I would hate to see how many hours it took to run such a great tournament. I would also like to say great job Annointed 1. If only my power strike to SOP would of knocked down that jedi knight it would have been a different story, yet again I wouldn't want to lose to a nicer guy . Also taking yodabreaker down to, 2 greedos and 1 wicket was an accomplish in its self. All in all it was great event. Nice people, Great games, Placing second in starwars, and memory's that will last for a life time is priceless. Also Superfly, I will promise you we do not practice force speed. You can take this to your grave.

Missouri sweeping TixCon?!?!?! Lets not forget who is the Chirpa Curling champion, he comes from the relatively great state of California.
Beast........I never saw that coming. Now I need to go buy a few more.
Anyway, great event. I loved getting to play against such players.
Hope we can do it again.

Yeah Bobafetch0007, our match in the 100 point "shooters only" tournament was quite the battle. My gold SOP came up white like 5 times in that match.
Too bad 8:00 came so soon that we didn't get to finish that side tournament. The way the brackets were, it seemed that Yaggleberry Finn and I would meet for the 100 point shooters only championship (although I'm not sure if we were supposed to do a round robin with Bobafetch included there as well).
The Missouri crew had quite the day - but at least I can lay claim to going 3-0 against them (including 2-0 vs. the Annoited 1)! It was just the other 49 states that have me problems... ;D
So is anyone not going to have 5 SM3 Venoms on their teams the next time around?

I was acually suprised that both me and my sister lasted so long in most of those tournaments! And what really suprised me was that she acually won that 12 and under tournament...plus her getting 3 tournament figures and 5 other figures all in one day

In that 100-pointer, had time allowed, it ended up that I had won 3, Boba had won 3, Yag Finn had won 3, and ConaChris had won 4. After the Boba/Cona match, which Cona won OH SO closely, and after the VERY close match between Yag Finn and I where Yag won, I think it would've ended up looking like I would've been in 3rd place, and Chris or Yag would've won 1st and second, depending on who won. As it ended early, and Joe left a kind-of nebulous ruling for us to work it out, I asked Yag to take first place and pick his first choice (after BobaFetch, who I asked to pick his favorite since he was the youngest, and as Yag stomped everyone else so badly, I thought he had walked away rich enough ;D) then Chris and myself took a fig, and the last (Han Solo, I think) went to Joe for a prize for a later tournemant or contest on the board. All in all, it was VERY close for that 100 point shooters only contest!

It took me all day yesterday to "come down" from the awesomeness that was TixCon. I'm still trying to collect my thoughts and post some sort of meaningful wrap up.
In the meanwhile...
I want to roll out my long list of thank you's again.
Thank you Joe and Sapph for saying yes way back when I started planning this thing. Yes to making the trip from Florida. For agreeing to be the de facto Tournament Organizer, and help make the decisions that crafted the structure of the event. Thanks for running the Star Wars Tournament and the Main Event. And thanks really for fostering this great web community that ended up being a great real community as well.
Thanks to Jon//notacomputer and his wife Liz for 1.) Creating the logo and printing off the posters and decals that really "branded" the event, 2.) For being there from start to finish, setting up and taking down, 3.) for running out and picking me up lunch, 4.) for running the TF tournament, and 5.) for everything else that helped make the day work out right.
Thanks to malform for making the "bar with no name" a reality. Your artistry continues to inspire.
Thanks to Radar and Cona Chris and others that donated items to the auction, which was a great success in my book.
Thanks to the artists that donated signature items, Dave Willis of Shortpacked! fame and Joe DesignDevil.com Allard, to the auction.
Thanks to Hasbro for getting together an incredible amount of prize support, allowing every event to have a winner with great prizes.
Thanks to my sis, who worked for less than minimum wage on her day off to come out and help handle the book keeping of the event.
Extra special thanks to my wife for dealing with all of this, for setting up, taking down, working the front desk, and handling everything that needed to be handled that I couldn't get to.
Finally, thanks to all of you in the 'Tix community that made this event what it really was. Without the players, fans and family members, TixCon would have been just two empty rooms with some nice decorations. You guys came out, played hard, had fun, and treated each other like family. - B

Well, I feel like I could write a novel about the trip/experience that TixCon was. The 1,520 miles put on my minivan were well worth it - I never expected to have as much as we did! The trip itself was quite memorable, from arriving at our hotel at 2am late Friday night, to sleeping in the hotel bathroom under the sink to forgetting we were switching time zones and showing up late instead of early.
Since we thought we would be getting there at 11:30 instead of 12:30, we ended up being quite rushed to get ready to play and I admit I was very nervous my first game. Grievous immediately handed me a loss and I had a feeling it was going to end up being a very long day. I bounced back with two wins before facing Grievous again, and losing again (darn those Daredevils!). Another of the very funny moments on the trip was yesterday on the way home when I realized that (I think) Grievous didn't have his complete team before the tournament and was frantically searching for another Daredevil. So from whom did he get the Daredevil he needed to complete his team? Yes, that's right - from me! I should've told him we'd trade after the tournament was over! ;D
Watching Big Base Mace and Annointed1 win their respective tourneys was awesome, and I was ready to go home very happy after that. I'd like to point out that the unmentioned fourth member of the Missouri Team, Mr. 500, was actually the one responsible for Big Base Mace's great strategic move against Grievous when Mace pinned his Daredevil via the "Sabretooth Hug". Unfortunately for Mr. 500 he drew YodaBreaker in the first round of both the 100 and 200 point tourneys, which is a pretty tough deal for anyone. One last Mr. 500 note - in the Chirpa curling he mysteriously chose to go first against Radar, even after he won the paper-rock-scissors matchup. Oh what could've been!
I never made it in to gunsling with Webhead, but the set up was awesome!! Malform - great job on the map! I'm excited to see what that playing field evolves into in the future, I'm definitely loving the idea of the climbable ladder on the side of the building.
The 200 point tourney was incredibly tense for me, as the game with Malform went clear to the wire with every single one of his Recruit figures coming up white. It's a good thing Hoth Luke only had 10 speed going against my S2 Starter Obi. I thought I had a great matchup with Notacomputer and his multiple Warrior Lukes, but that team kept coming up white and nearly cost me too. I was down to my S2 Starter Obi against two of his Leias and was able to fling one Leia into the other to end the game. (That was a pretty exciting moment for me.)
But just before playing Nota I squared off with YodaBreaker in a very fun match. He did have a complete whiff with his first strike against a formation of four of my figures which cost him big time. And when S2 Starter Obi came up black after being thrown at my team, I had a feeling things were going to go my way. Earlier Mr. 500 and I had been talking about the best strategy to beat YB's team and he gave me quite a few good ideas that were very helpful. Facing Annointed1 in the finale was fun but a bit nerve wracking, as we've been playing each other with the same 200 point teams for a few weeks in preparation - and it nearly always comes down to the special powers. Luckily they were in my favor and I was able to go home with some bragging rights.
If all of that wasn't enough - here's the kicker. When I left Ohio there was snow on my van. But right now, here at home it's a beautiful 75 degrees.
The only thing I would change about the experience is getting to play against more of you. The two tournaments were fun, but it was even better playing Superfly in the much more relaxed 100 point shooters only tournament. It would've been good to get a shot at Cona Chris, and then there were still several forum folks I didn't get to play - Ben Kenobi, Bobafetch, Imvader3, Jango, Mandalore, Radar, Ravage85 and Webhead. (Sorry if I left anyone out.)
Dinner afterwards was also a lot of fun, it was good getting to talk quite a bit with Mrs. Webhead. Thanks so much for putting on this event Brett, and thanks to Joe and Nota for all the help they put in as well. If we do it next year I'll do everything in my power to be there again! (And I'll be gunning for you, Grievous!!)

So from whom did he get the Daredevil he needed to complete his team? Yes, that's right - from me! I should've told him we'd trade after the tournament was over! ;D Yup. That Daredevil you traded to me was what I needed to complete my team. Like I said on site at one point while either you or Annointed1 mentioned to me that I was using a team that you had playtested against, I had never actually been able to play my Daredevil/Elektra team. I did some "proxy" games where I would swap figures in and out as needed (for example, Minicon stands for Daredevil for movement but once I actually need to attack I switched the Minicon and Daredevil's places. Same when I was being attacked) but that Daredevil was the last thing I needed to run the team. I had a backup team of five Beasts (which would have made for an interesting game if I had played notacomputer) but I didn't like the idea of relying purely on special powers. Still, thanks for the Daredevil . Ah ha! Then all mad props goes to Mr. 500 for that amazing move. I wish I could have beaten Annointed1 to play your team. When I looked at your team I could see you were expecting to play Warrior-heavy teams and I think that with a bit of special power luck, I might have been able to pull out the win. Unfortunately, Annointed1 played a much better game in that semi-final round so I'll never know if I could have beaten you again... Just remember not to go handing over any Daredevils before we play the game. ;D

Awesome, awesome event. It was just an all-around fun convention with plenty to do and lots of nice people. I can definitely say I had a great time. Huge thanks to Webhead, Joe, Jon, their families, and everyone else that made this thing possible. It really was a great time. I didn't take many pictures, but I did get a quick shot at the city terrain, with Radar and his clones. This terrain was awesome. With toy cars and bikes to hit down and hide behind, to great detail to sidewalks and pavement, to getting everything to tix' scale, this thing was cool. Great job to Malform and Webhead on this. I actually liked playing on this map better than playing on a standard playing surface. With this, there were obstacles in the way and things to go around. As Big Base Mace said at the convention, this made the battles more real. Unlike on a standard, flat playing surface where Wolverine can hit down Pyro, who flies across the battlefield and kills Magneto. On this board, it gave it more of a one-on-one, hero vs. villain thing going on, where a kill is a kill, a knockdown is a knockdown. All of the customs were great, too. It was cool to see the figures people posted on the forum in real life. I would look and say, "Hey, it's the Hobgoblin! And Indiana Jones! And Professor X! And...Cookie Monster!" There also were some cool customs people had made that I had never seen before. They all were very cool. I also enjoyed watching the games people had in the tournament. Seeing the strategy of other people was entertaining and helpful, seeing I play only two opponents (Bobafetch and myself - heh). Grievous' team was very fun to play. I would have never picked a team of Eleckras and Daredevils, but it certainly is a force to be reckoned with. Awesome. Great event. Thanks again to everyone that set this thing up, and even everyone who came who made this a fun convention for all.

I want to do my part in thanking Webhead and others for putting together such an amazing tournament. I was truly satisfied with the final decision of how the tournament was to be set up.
Even though I did not fair as well as my other Mighty MO teammates, I emencely enjoyed this past weekend. I enjoyed meeting all the people whose posts I have been reading for the past year with great interest. Everyone was awesome. I love how we can gather to compete in a tournament but when all is said and done we can sit, talk, and joke with each other about the tournament and about life. Thank you all for being such great sportsmen.
I hope this can become an annual event. And if so, Mr. 500 will be much more prepared for the competition. He will be much more than a tactition aiding his friends; he will be a forced to be reckoned with. ;D
Again, thank you all for a wonderful weekend and a wonderful tournament.

With toy cars and bikes to hit down and hide behind, to great detail to sidewalks and pavement, to getting everything to tix' scale, this thing was cool. Great job to Malform and Webhead on this. Thanks Ben. I forgot to mention that Joe helped me scale the bricks properly as well, definitely a team project. For those that are interested, I used 1/24 scale die cast model cars from Jada Toys. Joe tracked down the "For Sale" line for me in Florida, the rest I picked up locally or on ebay. They aren't cheap, but they look real nice. The motorcycles are actually 1/18 scale, as bikes come in fewer scales overall, however, since the scale is imperfect to begin with, they are close enough. In fact, 1/18 appears to be the scale used in the Ghost Rider Mega. In terms of the map though, go with the 1/24 scale in general, and just create doors to fit, I think I went with 2"x4" as the default door size, which would allow a figure to move through it if it were open. What I didn't have setup was the TF scene. TF are approximately 1/64 scale, though there is much more variation between them. However, using matchbox/hot wheels is close, and I believe it's HO scale in trains that is closest. There actually is a true 1/64 scale (S maybe?), but apparently it is super rare, whereas HO scale is super common. My plan for next time is to have a 3D map for each universe available.
