I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for participating in TixCon this year. We had 33 players in total, as well as many family members cheering them on. The Attacktix community was out in force, and the results were terrific. I'd like to give special thanks to Joe, Jon (notacomputer) and his wife Liz for all of their help throughout the day, as well as everyone else that helped carry stuff in and out, setup, take down and all of that. I'd also like to thank my crew of my wife Julie and my sister Stacy who braved the registration desk and handled a lot of the "book keeping" for the event behind the scenes. I also want to say that everyone displayed an incredible amount of sportsmanship throughout the day. With 6 players in the 12 and under age group, a number of teenagers, young adults, and more seasoned players, there were a wide range of players all involved in the same events. All of the "grown ups" treated the younger players with a great amount of respect, and all of the youth players treated the tournament with an appropriate amount of seriousness. Details are sure to follow, but to briefly recap, we started the day with early registration and a lot of pick up games. The first scheduled events were the Choose Your Universe tournaments. We had 10- 12 entrants in each of the three universes, and played through a double elimination bracket in each universe to determine a winner. The finalists in each universe then squared off in a three way battle royal using sealed boosters and starters to determine which universe reigned supreme. The Transformers (!) pulled out the win thanks to some long range bombs, and took the crown for this year. In between games, players took the time to vote on their favorite customs and repaints, as well as bid on charity auction items. TixCon participants raised $200 for the Toys for Tots charity this year. There were two tables of entries for the customs, with Hobgoblin and Beethov-Han tying for repaint winner and the Prof. X winning the custom contest. Next was the 200 point main event single elimination tournament. We'll get some detailed reporting on that later, and in the meanwhile, we were able to run a long string of gunslinging events at "the bar with no name" 3D map that featured a scaled street scene that presented interesting challenges to players. Later in the evening, the four youngest players were able to have their own event, allowing them to play just among themselves. Many players also took the time to try their hand at Chief Chirpa Curling. Finally, the last event of the night was a 100 point launcher only event. Details and pictures to come later today, but again, thank you to everyone for making this the best Attacktix event yet! - B

Gunslinging is something I did at the Detroit event. Basically, everyone had a chance to play me in a 100 point game, win, and you get a random prize. The prizes I had were all either Chromes or Tournament figures.

Maybe an attacktix custom contest is in order? Good idea. Also, if I can convince my parents to let me go to an Attacktix tourney that's 9 hours away, I will go. *crosses fingers*

A bit of a drive, yes.
The location I'm looking at is just down the road from the Toledo Airport. It's a hotel conference room, there are a couple of hotels right in that area, plenty of places to eat, and some shopping (Target, Wal-Mart, and a decent strip mall.)

That's about 4 hours for me. Count me in tentatively.

Hmm... 700 miles. Probably not very realistic for me to join you guys, but nonetheless I'm very interested! Do you know anything more specific than "spring" as to when this would be?
If I can find someone(s) to make the roadtrip with me, I am seriously considering coming. It will all depend on what weekend it falls on and what we already have going on here.

Unfortunately, a 9.5 hour drive is too steep for me. Good luck, though! I like the idea of themed tournaments.

Yodabreaker, it's like 4 hours to my place from yours I think. Hook up with me there and I'll drive up to Toledo (about 3.5 hours if I drive normal) with ya. I'll drive ya back to my place and you can drive home or spend the night on my sleeper sofa (of the Gods). Saves you 7 hours of driving!

I left the date vague partly because I was trying to get an idea of what time of year the most people could shake free and get here...I guess I'm thinking April right now...

My vote is sometime in 2007. Sooner the better. And this time, no wife and kid to rob me of my victory! ;D

I hope I can be in - we are very likely taking a long trip in April, so that would wipe out most April weekends for me. I think Easter is the first weekend in April too. Any chance it could be the last weekend in March? Of course April is the only month where we have things on the calendar for 2007 so far!
