Leni Riefenstahl was a devout na-zi and a filmmaker. A talented artist, her influence in the world of filmmaking is what landed her the position as a head of propaganda films for Hitler's regime. Hitler himself spoke highly of her but her connections didn't end there. She personally met Walt Disney and was given a tour of the Disney studios. George Lucas, who often looked to WW2 Germany as inspiration for various aesthetic and world-building things in Star Wars (planet Hoth is named in tribute to the na-zi General for example) was a big fan of Miss Riefenstahl's film work and often referenced it in his early films such as THX but also later in Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Your thoughts? Can we indeed credit 1930's Germany for being the inspiration that gave Star Wars its unique look and exciting visuals?
