I haven't used customs a lot in games, I just like that it coats evenly and doesn't leave brush strokes.

Well now I can put a bit of icing on this cake...True enamels seem to be in a state of "everwet" on Attacktix. My ROM and Green Lantern (and to some degree Flingfessor X) have never dried and are still tacky to the touch. All of them were painted using Enamels from Testors. Now, that being said, they are FAR FAR easier to use and have nice thick characteristics.
The Testor's "Acryl" acrylic is OK, but its less thixotropic (thick and stays where it was put), more like water, but has nice, bright whites and true colors.
Finally the Apple Barrel acrylics paints are wonderful, but take some time to get used to. Make sure that you shake them VERY well, and put on thick, even coats. It self-levels so even though brush strokes are there when you put it on they level out and disappear (usually). Just be as even as possible. Also, these AB paints have wonderful true colors, and their white is the whitest I've seen. 4 more info, get with Dvandom.
For durability, use a spray-on Acrylic clearcoat to go over the acrylic, but never hold it too close to the figure as it can melt or bubble the paint due to the solvent that's in the propellant. That will make it very, very tough. The Enamels are tough, normally, but they react to the plastic in 'tix and like I said, they never dry completely. You end up with fingerprints all over due to touching the 'wet' paint, even months later.

I use Pactra, Model Masters (both from Testors), Tamiya, Apple Barrel - whatever has the color I'm looking for, but I ALWAYS use acryilics.
