As I sat ready to get shot at by Gambit the other night I called a cease fire to examine his cards. Why is it that the diamond card is black and not red?

This is a pretty strange color flaw. I was surprised when you pointed this out to me, since I'm usually the one to pay attention to details like that. Maybe it was done on purpose, some sort of Hasbro inside-joke?

hmmm, I'm not sure about an inside joke, but this issue has been mentioned here by superfly, and here as well by grizz. If there is a story behind it I'd love to hear it, but I think it is just another subtle slip of quality control as are other things mentioned in the links above.

Forgive my repeat of past post. I don't get to play with Marvel much so it was new to me. As for Electra (in the old post) I did notice her variations before and like the silver opposed to the pearl which just looks like her hands are extended.

One of my buddies loves playing Gambit, but is always making jokes about it. "KO'ed by a black diamond" had a brief lifespan as a saying around my house.
No guesses on my end, just making conversation.

If I remember correctly, it was Cona Chris who pointed this out to the majority of us at "Tournament of Stars and a guy named Superfly". ;D

After she mentioned it, I looked around on the board for references to this mistake, but I guess I missed those ones. And I thought we were the first... ;D

Keep thinking it, Mister. ;D I suspect that the reason for the black diamond is that the "Evil Arch Nemesis" of all Super Heroes, the "Baddy-to-beat-all-Baddies", the "King of Kuh-rime" LUCKY, the Marshmallow addicted sugar junkie from the hard streets of Dublin and former kingpin of the militant wing of the IRA had stolen all of the red diamonds for his evil purposes (to fund roadside bombs in London, no doubt). Gambit clearly was stuck with a poorly-manufactured Chinese copy of Bicyclye (comically labelled Bisexual - a simple mistake in translation) playing cards that had black diamonds only. That MUST be it. Beware little persons that believe they are leprechauns....chances are they're geezers.

I've used Gambit countless times and never noticed it, probably cause im the only only one in the group who uses Marvel on a regular basis and am not getting shot at by the missile. Detail flaws are always interesting.
Hilarious sig Superfly.
