*I was going to post this just as part of my reply to the "Ugliest Autobot Attacktix paint-job" thread, but this got to be a bit too lengthy.* While talking about paint jobs, I've never been the kind to whine about colors, of all things. The most I've done is complain if they are not true to the specific incarnation of the character (for example, Beast Machines deluxe size Optimus Primal). What I'm getting at is this: www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?OPFlameIf you choose to click on this, you'll find a petition for the movie version of Optimus Prime to NOT have flames. (I apologize in advance if any of the fine people of this forum have signed this garbage) Out of all of the possible things that could go wrong with this movie: poor writing, a cast that doesn't mesh well together, unavoidable cheesy-ness (THEY ARE TALKING ROBOTS BORN OF AN '80's CHILDRENS CARTOON!), ....These people are choosing to fight the tough battle against the wicked forces of..... PAINT?!?! There are so many more important things to worry about in the TF universe (let alone in LIFE itself), than to obsess and get all bent out of shape over a little paint detailing. I'd like to see a petition in favor of shutting down that stupid petition! If you feel the same, let me know. If not then too bad! ;D Just kidding. Whatever you think about this highly 'controversial' topic, let me know. If you disagree, then speak up! Help me understand the mentality at work here, making it seem like all TF fans have no lives and nothing better to do than cry about paint! *Phewww, I'm done with my whining for now.*

I was so disappointed when I first saw that the movie opimus was going to have flames painted on him that I screamed, them I cried... And then I couldnt sleep for 3 days!
Naa... Just kidding, I think the flames look pretty sweet. It is pretty shocking that stupid anti-flame petition has more than 4000 signatures.
If you start a petition against the petition, I would defiantly sign it.

And that show rocks! Sooo... I am all for it.
I just wish it was a Bay-less movie!

The island was cool... Lots of really cool action sense... But god did pearl harbor suck. *edit* I went and brushed up on bay films... Hes pretty hit and miss. Bad boys was really cool (second one really stinks), the rock was decent, armageddon was great as long as you only watched it once... Lets just hope transformers caught him in the good movie making up-swing.

|sf>*shrugs* The movie OP is basically just a recreation of the Laser Rod Optimus (a toy from 1995). I'm not an Optimus Prime fan, but I think this petition comes from some OP fans who are accustomed to the idea that Hasbro normally keeps OP as the same basic look. I won't laugh at them though, since there are one or two things I've heard about the movie that are distasteful to me. However, I will point out that flame paint jobs are cool IMO, especially on Transformers. If Hasbro repainted any of the current Attacktix figures with a flame paint job, I certainly wouldn't complain.

I like everything I've seen about this movie so far. The changes they are making, imho, are no more drastic than the changes to say, the X-Men outfits for the movies. And last I heard, that turned out ok at the box office.
I just can't see them doing an OP like the G1 version, where the legs are just the back half of the rig split in half and folded up at the feet. And since then, they've done a ton of different versions of him...it's not like they made him transform into an ape in the movie or something.

And last I heard, that turned out ok at the box office. It's interesting that you keep bringing up the X-Men movies for this purpose - I think back even further to the original Batman movie with Michael Keaton, with all-black Batman. It was quite a stir at the time, but it seemed to be relatively accepted because it was Tim Burton's vision, and he was known for being a dark kinda guy, whose darkness fit in well with the Batman universe. I wonder if some of the concern over the costumes for X-Men and Transformers have to do with the unknown "visions" of the directors involved (Bryan Singer was known for The Usual Suspects, and Michael Bay is known mostly for high-budget blow-em-ups). Thus, the fans don't really know *what's* driving the changes in character appearances, besides possibly the money behind it. And I'm another one who just loves The Rock, in spite of its cheesiness that appears ever more glaringly with each reviewing. My wife and I still occasionally relish parroting the line "I'd take pleasure in guttin' you, boy!" the way that Nic Cage does it. We also enjoy his line "Put the bunny back in the box" from Con Air - but I digress. Hee - that last sentence of yours made me think about crossing the Transformers with Planet of the Apes, in which the apes could transform into humans or something. All that would be necessary is for Charlton Heston to see the arm and face of the Robo-Maid from Spaceballs sticking up from the beach as he cries out "You d**n, dirty apes!"
