Theres a lot more fractions than the five mentioned. There is also a lot of subgroups within the five mentioned except mini-con. Oh, I'm becoming entirely aware of that now However, what I'm trying to express is that I'm glad Transformers Attacktix aren't following (what I believe to be the biggest mistake of the design of) Star Wars Attacktix and creating figures that fall into those subgroups, rather than just sticking with a few big classes so that even old figures can have their special powers benefit the new figures and vice versa. I'm all for the splitting of the Jedi and Sith from the Republic and Separatists (as they exist even in the Rebellion and Empire timeframes), but when are the Wookiees seen as a fighting force apart from the Republic in EpIII? You have a good point, if the Tf's had over 2 fractions like Star Wars Attacktix, then it would be much weaker than star wars and you would end up with terracon only teams or rodimus fraction teams.(On Energon Rodmius had his own 3 man team)

I'd say by series 3, there should be enough Autobots and Decepticons to introduce new factions (hopefully Maximals and Predacons, as I said earlier). I don't think we'd want to get to much further than the main factions (Autobot, Decepticon, Mini-con, Maximal, Predacon, and Vehicon), as those six would be plenty (maybe we could have Unicronians and Quintessons too). There are so many teams in the Transformers mythos, from G1 combiner teams, the various _Masters, to even the individual Mini-con teams, that making them individual factions would be a mess.

Vector Prime doesn't JUST have a sword. He has Rhysling, a sword forged with the power of primus and infused with the ability to create interdimensional rifts and control time to a certain extent. When they make sword-wielding vector prime, he needs a really cool special power. as for transformers subgroups...
1. autobot 2. decepticon 3. terrorcon ( Alpha Q and co.) 4. Quintesson 5. Unicronian
If you wanted to go further, you could even make sub-factions like dinobots, constructicons, etc. but that would make effects like "strikeback: autobot" a bit less convenient if you decide to include the dinobots or aerialbots, two popular autobot subgroups, in your Autobot team.

I'm glad they only have two factions. It would be too complicated to have terrorcons, minicons, etc. as a seperate groups. Not to mention that the set is a little too small for that anyway. If they did Beast Wars set it would be nice to see Maximal and Predicon factions, but other than that, it should just be left at Autobot/Decepticon.
