There are many Star Wars classes in Attacktix (Jedi, Sith, Rebels, Droid Army, etc) and I started thinking about how Transformers will play out a bit different because it appears that there are just the two classes (Autobot and Decepticon) in Series 1. I am betting that these will remain the two main classes for quite some time (possibly always). But I am also thinking about where there may be room for more. I am kind of surprised there aren't some subgroups (Dinobots, Terrorcons, etc) already indicated but perhaps those will have some importance later. Here are all the factions I can think of: G1 & G2: Autobot Decepticon Quintesson Beast Formers (heh...how would Battle Beasts work for Attacktix?) Minions of Unicron Beast Wars/Beast Machines: Maximal Predacon Blendtron Mutant Vehicon Vok RID: Destronger (in Car Robots anyway...that was changed to Decepticon for RID) Armada: Mini-con I suppose that there could even be some human Attacktix from the many Transformers series. A Kicker, Circuit Breaker, Spike, or Daniel (in exo-suit) would be kind of cool. Edit: This is a list of (for lack of a better word) subdividions within each faction: Autobots: Dinobots Aerialbots Protectobots Technobots Railbots/Trainbots Junkions Monsterbots Decepticons: Insecticons Constructicons Combaticons Stunticons Terrorcons Predacons (not to be confused with the Beast Wars Predacons...though it is very possible they are related) Seacons There are many others that can be considered a subgroup, depending on what you want to count as one. (Take the Triple changers or jumpstarters for example...they are special but weren't specifically identified as their own division in the story that I recall). I think most subdivisions are listed here: www.tfu.info/subgroup/index.htmBut those only list ones that were made as toys. Factions from shows/comics like the Quintessons aren't listed (and have been used as recently as some of the toys made into attacktix) Did I miss any other factions?

You mentioned dinobots and terrocons, then didnt include them in your list. And what about constructicons?

For the most part, I was just tossing them in as Decepticons or Autobots. The main factions I am trying to make sure I have covered are ones that just don't fit under either of those (like Quintessons).
But since they have a Droid Army class and a Seperatist class (and the droid army pretty much works for the seperatists even more than someone like Jango Fett does), I suppose it would be quite possible for a smaller division to have its own class for gaming purposes. I actually hope they do. It would be cool to see some team dynamics in their special powers.

I haven't played with Transformers for nearly 20 years---but I was a major Transformers' fan during the first three years they were out! They were my primary focus until I discovered that playing guitar rated far more highly with the opposite sex than being able to recite the entire history of a yellow car named Bumblebee.
I still have the "cassette tape" that turned into a bird---I can't remember the bird's name, though---as well as a few other originals.
Anyway, I'm coming into this remembering only the first few years of Transformers, and I recall Megatron as a gun. It seems to me that Attacktix would be a natural place to have a huge gun like Megatron used to have/be.

there were two cassete condors. the red one was laserbeak, and the yellow one that came with soundwave was buzzsaw. but, did I just hear somebody say "quintesson"? the quintessons haven't really gotten many toys. really the only one is alpha Q from TF energon. I think some quintesson attacktix would be awesome. we could have quintesson judge and the quintesson guard/bailiff from the movie, and the scientist from the G1 cartoon, and the standard troopers would be sharkticons and gatorcons. that would make for a really cool squad. bring on the five faces of darkness!

I'm surprised you didn't repeat it during the more recent G1 threads.

Yiminy - as you all discuss this, I never realized that the TF series could have so many troopers. I grew up on what I believe is called G1, and my relationship with the TF line is quite similar to MasterTiMothee's, except for the whole girl thing Oh, and welcome to the boards, safariuz! You've had lots of good ideas and thoughts, and I hope we continue seeing you around here.

Yiminy - as you all discuss this, I never realized that the TF series could have so many troopers. I grew up on what I believe is called G1 If you grew up in the '80s, then yes, that's G1. And I think the list above (which is certainly not exhaustive) shows how messy things could be if we went with each individual team as a faction. And I think Hasbro will stay away from Japaneese fiction (so no Blendtrons, Battle Beasts, "Destrongers", etc.) so as not to confuse the kids who only know American Transformers. I think they'll stick with Autobots and Decepticons for now, and (hopefully) expand into Maximals, Predacons, and Vehicons (Vehicons especially would be great fodder for troup builders, lots of drones). Or maybe they'll go with Mini-cons instead since they are in the current toyline/fiction. Minions of Unicron might be a little tricky since they most of them were Decepticons anyway (but I guess if Darth Vader can change factions, so could they). They could make Quintessons, depending on how far into the G1 mythos they want to go.

That's one of the beautiful things about Attacktix: you don't have to know the characters' back stories. It's not like pegged toys where some people can avoid characters that they don't like or don't know. I certainly didn't recognize where Decepticlone came from in the canon until someone else mentioned it (and I don't even mind figures of TFs that I don't automatically know). I suspect Mini-cons will probably be recycled as troopers for various figure waves, instead of using them as a faction. Alpha-Q was in Energon, so it's more likely the Quintessons could be resurrected. I guess it all depends on how many years kids collect Transformers. If Energon is considered recent enough, they might throw some Quintessons into the mix.

I grew up on what I believe is called G1, and my relationship with the TF line is quite similar to MasterTiMothee's, except for the whole girl thing |sf>My younger brother collected TF figures during the first 4 years of the series (and I played with his collection). When I saw Generation 2 Seaspray (my second favorite Autobot) back in 1994, I decided to start my own collection (In a later year, I gained my brother's collection as a Christmas present.). Before Transformers came around, my brother's first action figure collection was Star Wars. Often I used to play with all the Darth Vaders, all the Princess Leias, the Jawas, and all the pretty little droids. Although my brother still owns his Star Wars action figures, Attacktix gives me a chance to own figures that look close to the older figures. Although Transformers drew me into this Attacktix game, it doesn't hurt to have some supplimental Star Wars troops to keep the TFs company (or give them competition). I was so happy to get a Jawa and Stormtrooper earlier in the week that I felt that my 'gamble' at buying a series 3 package from Kay Bee paid off (Even though it was a higher price than TRU, the KB ones clearly hadn't been tampered.). I don't know if it's just me, but buying a package with three figures in it gets me more worried than buying a package with two. I run the risk of getting three figures I might not want, versus the risk of two. The odds of getting any one of the rarest figures is also harder to find in comparison to the two pack. Thank you for the compliment. Although I'm sure to miss some days here and there, in general I plan to stick around for a while. I confess that I'm very impressed by the general maturity level of posters here (added to the fact that people still enjoy having fun). It's a tough balance to keep in place.
