I haven't played much with my S4 Gunship (the missile shoots about 2 seconds after loading, giving me very little time to aim!) but I just got an S2 Gunship that works much better.
So I used it in a couple of battles, advancing backwards toward the enemy. In the few games I've played, no one has been able to get their guys on the weak side of the gunship long enough to do the destroy it. I just keep moving it away from the nearest figures, with the weak side protected, then fly to the length of the string for the kill.
I guess my question is am I missing something? Is this legal? If so, why have the vulnerable spots on the front? Because everyone should be driving their Gunships backward, right? Its not like you can't shoot wherever you want once the movement phase is over, right?
I haven't played around with it yet, but my next thing will be to start using one Gunship to move the other. See if that gets me anywhere.

According to the current rules, I think it's technically legal, but in my book it's unsportsmanlike. When I play with Megas, I always have them facing forward, though I'll usually move a figure in front of each target to protect them.

The same question was posed about the Spiderman Mega here. It's really a house rules sort of thing. If you'll allow it, then cool, but not everyone agrees with those tactics. Unfortunately, our Attacktix Rules Committee seems to be on hiatus, along with the game itself. Otherwise, I'm sure we'd be debating this topic in-depth.

Definitely not sportsman-like, but some of these matches are not just games - we're talking life or death! Anyway, those important matches are few and far between. I usually play with people that I've introduced the game to, so I already have the unfair advantage of experience. I will set my gunships aside for a while unless I am deploying one on each team with the idea that the tactics will be the same. Anyway, I don't know HOW one would structure a rule that forbade turning the weak spots of the Gunship away from the enemy. House rule or not. Thanks for you opinions.

When I play with Megas, I always have them facing forward, though I'll usually move a figure in front of each target to protect them. This is true, and the committee is in a lull right now. It hasn't come up before with the gunship because at 70 points I think most experienced players could find a way to take it out (a strong shot or strike under the backside or some such thing) with superior numbers. It is a bit obnoxious to move backwards into battle though. My son likes to play Megas and we often just say 6 characters rather than points. My solution: Sabretooth. I love to bowl with anyone, but especially r2's and Megas. It is a great way to clear half the board in one move. ;D

Yes, a strong strike can easily scoot a mega of a table, even if the edge is 20-30+ tix away. There are also certain figures that in my house are like "instant mega killers," as long as they get into range. They include the spiderman mega, ransack, and skorponok.

hehe who's talking about scooting, I defeat Megas with Mr. Creed. ;D (often by knocking them off the play area, but sometimes also knocking them over entirely). Grievous features his original Ransack concepts on Mega killing in the middle of his video Trick Attacks

Uuuuurgh. This is how my friend plays his, It's almost impossible to kill.
I have this problem with a few of my figures, namely Super optimus Prime Robot mode & my brothers magneto.
The magneto is soooo bad that he just pushes it in aims it then lets go, he doesn't even need to press the button. 3/4 times it will shoot the second after you load it.

I have a few figures that do that to, it is extremely annoying. It is funny though if they just randomly shoot when you arn't near them and they knock a bunch of people over.

I've had this problem, too. Also, instead of being powerful, its shot is so weak that I have to have the missile right up against their body, and even then, the kill isn't guaranteed.
Oh yeah, has this happened to anyone? I was using the gunship in a battle yesterday, and the little white rubber band keeping the tix windows in line, I guess, came out. It still plays fine, but neither of the tix windows work right

Can't say thats ever happned to me, but I do have one figure where the window will turn to a certain point and get stuck. I can then turn it back and it goes backward to the same point and gets stuck again. Its annoying.

ARC is not on Hiatus, we're out of questions!
Also, it's easy to kill a gunship - use a striker. Give me an Obi Wan or Wicket and kiss the gunship goodbye!

Actually, we've still got these two outstanding questions:
Q: Mystique's effect states: If you have another Brotherhood in play, as an attack you may take control of an opponents figure Mystique is touching, then remove Mystique. Suppose you get a free move and attack for a specialist. Are you allowed to use this effect for the free attack, or does the effect have to actually occur on your turn? (this is really about the use of effects for attackbacks) A. R.
Q: What constitutes a "Turn" and what constitutes a "Round" in Attacktix? A. R.
If only we could get one...more...aye on the latter of these.

After lots of practice I can kill any Mega, usually by flipping it off the table (fun!).
